The Pitiful One Transmigrated into a Wealthy Family's Live-in Alpha (GL) - Chapter 7
The company’s closing time was 5 PM, but Jiang Sixian often worked overtime until 6 or 7 PM. The drive from their home to the office took about twenty minutes, so Jing Ye planned to go ahead and wait, and also get familiar with the people at the company.
Knowing that Jiang Sixian was in a video conference, Jing Ye sat obediently in the lounge, like a waiting guest, and was careful not to disturb her. The door to the lounge was open. She saw the pot-bellied man talking to someone outside the door. He came in expressionlessly to grab his coat, looking like he was in a bad mood.
When he saw a young girl sitting in the lounge playing on her phone, he raised his eyebrows, but his expression immediately turned fierce when he saw Jing Ye’s face. He was clearly all bark and no bite. He watched Jing Ye while keeping a safe distance, grabbing his jacket and making to leave, but he couldn’t help but turn back for another look as he reached the door.
After a whole day, Jing Ye already knew how to play the part. She lazily crossed her long legs and looked at him askance:
“What’s wrong, Mr. Zhang? Wasn’t it embarrassing enough this morning that you want to try again now?”
“You!”
Mr. Zhang hated Jing Ye to his core, but since they were at the company and he had already been humiliated that morning, he didn’t want to get into another fight with this lunatic. She was just a live-in Alpha who was sponging off her wife. Acting so arrogantly, he thought, if Jiang Sixian ever fell from grace, she would be hit harder than anyone else. He cursed her silently several times in his head, but he didn’t dare stay in the same room as Jing Ye. He turned and hurried out.
Jiang Sixian’s meeting didn’t finish until 8:30 PM. Working overtime was a regular thing for her. In fact, in the past, when the company had just gone public and was trying to stabilize its market, she had even stayed up all night at the office.
By this time, most people had left the company. Even Secretary Zou had been sent home. Jiang Sixian didn’t have a habit of inconveniencing people. When she was thirsty, she would pour her own water, and she would get whatever she needed herself. She didn’t like people staying behind to keep her company while she worked overtime.
Her last meal was at noon. After more than eight hours, Jiang Sixian, as an Omega, whose body was not as resilient as an Alpha’s, naturally felt hungry. She looked at her phone’s missed calls and saw that Jing Ye hadn’t called her.
Tsk. Why am I even thinking about that wolf cub? Even though she had suddenly had a change of heart, she was definitely not the type to be a considerate person. This was probably just a three-minute wonder. Jiang Sixian opened her messaging app and was about to call a driver when she saw a person in the doorway of the lounge.
The person was lying lazily on the sofa with their long legs bent. Their eyes were closed, and they were clearly asleep, sleeping soundly. A strand of hair had fallen across their lips, and they were unaware of it, occasionally puffing out their cheeks to get rid of the strange feeling.
“Jing Ye?”
Jiang Sixian was genuinely surprised this time. As soon as she spoke, Jing Ye suddenly opened her eyes, and upon seeing the person in front of her, she sweetly called out:
“Wifey!?”
Jing Ye’s long legs unbent, and she slid off the sofa, jogging over:
“I’ve been waiting here for so long that I fell asleep without realizing it. Let’s go eat, wifey. I found a restaurant with really good reviews.”
Jiang Sixian didn’t immediately agree. She was still a little skeptical:
“How long have you been waiting here? Why didn’t you call or text me?”
“I left home at 4 o’clock and got here at 4:30. They said you were getting ready for a video conference. How could I call you? And texting would make a notification pop up.”
From 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM, that meant Jing Ye had been idly waiting for her in the lounge for four whole hours? Jiang Sixian still didn’t believe it. Jing Ye had always been the type who couldn’t sit still. So she thought for a moment and suddenly found a flaw in her words:
“My phone is on Do Not Disturb during meetings. Didn’t you know that?”
Jing Ye replied with a confident look:
“I know, but I’m your wife. How could I be on the list of idlers that get silenced?”
Jiang Sixian: “…”
She hadn’t actually put Jing Ye on Do Not Disturb because they didn’t communicate much on the messaging app, and Jing Ye never randomly texted her.
Forget it.
“What do you want to eat?”
Although she didn’t know what Jing Ye was up to, Jiang Sixian had to admit that if she had to spend another year or so with this wolf cub, at least her feigned politeness was more bearable than her previous behavior. She knew it was all an act, but at least it was a more pleasant one.
Jiang Sixian assumed she would choose an expensive restaurant that cost tens of thousands, but Jing Ye chose a mid-range private kitchen. The private kitchen had beautiful decor, was clean, and had high ratings, but for Jiang Sixian, the prices were quite cheap.
Jing Ye had been an ordinary office worker in her old world and was very good at managing her finances, so she would never choose overly luxurious places. Many private kitchens were delicious and didn’t have to be big chains.
Jiang Sixian was also hungry and didn’t want to choose anything else. She nodded and called a driver.
The two soon arrived at the location and ordered a table of small dishes in a private room. This way, they wouldn’t waste food and could try a variety of dishes. Jing Ye ordered a hot red bean milkshake for her, saying that since she worked overtime, she should drink something to replenish her bl00d and energy.
Jiang Sixian often had low bl00d sugar because she skipped breakfast. It was a minor issue that she herself didn’t pay much attention to. Jing Ye’s thoughtfulness was rare. Since she would be parting ways with the wolf cub eventually, she no longer felt awkward. At least on the surface, she smiled gently and said “thank you.”
As soon as she finished speaking, her phone on the table rang. When she saw the caller’s name, Jiang Sixian’s face fell. After a moment of hesitation, she answered it in front of Jing Ye. A man’s voice came through the phone, not on speakerphone, with a hint of sarcastic laughter. He started by calling Jiang Sixian by her nickname.
“Yanyan, I heard your little live-in Alpha is all better and went to the company today? Why don’t you bring her to see the old man this week? After being bedridden for so long, now that she’s better, it’s about time for you two to start thinking about having a child, right?”
