The Pitiful One Transmigrated into a Wealthy Family's Live-in Alpha (GL) - Chapter 9
The moment the call connected, Jing Ye used the fastest reaction time of her life, and with quick reflexes, hung up the phone. The Omega who was trying to burrow into her arms was scared by her cold expression and retreated to the side, hiding behind Chen Yue with a look of injustice.
Chen Yue was hugging an Omega who was having fun. Seeing the beautiful Omega sister pout and complain to her, she couldn’t help but laugh and patted Jing Ye on the shoulder:
“Hey, why are you so unromantic? She’s one of Lancheng’s top-ranking…”
Chen Yue trailed off, realizing that Jing Ye’s wife was the number one Omega in Lancheng, someone many people only dreamed of. Why would she be interested in these wild flowers? But seeing Jing Ye rush out, even Lin Xiudi, who was usually unrestrained, couldn’t help but sigh:
“Sister Yue, it seems like sometimes the home flower can be more fragrant than the wild flower.”
Jing Ye couldn’t care less about their “home flower” and “wild flower” talk. She didn’t know what Jiang Sixian had heard or seen in that brief moment the call was connected. If she thought she was at a karaoke bar picking up girls, she would be completely finished. Even though she hadn’t called them and had no such intentions, it was not an easy thing to explain to her wife.
Jing Ye went to the rooftop, closed the windows, and blocked out the noisy sounds from inside. With a pounding heart, she called Jiang Sixian back. As the phone rang, Jing Ye felt like a fish on a cutting board that had just been sentenced to death. All she could do was flop around in a few drops of water, frantically trying to come up with a solution.
Lying and saying she was somewhere else wouldn’t work. What if Jiang Sixian asked her to show her around? The trust between them would be completely shattered, and it would be very difficult to rebuild.
The wait was only about twenty seconds, but for Jing Ye, it felt like an eternity. When she saw Jiang Sixian’s face, she did her best to put on a flattering smile and sweetly called out, “Wifey.”
“I was studying for the past few days, and my friends called me out to relax today.” Jing Ye raised her phone and slowly panned it around, showing that there was no one else around her. “My friends are all Alphas.”
Jiang Sixian gave a low “mm” on the phone. Seeing her nervous look, she smiled:
“I just had some free time and wanted to see what you were up to. There’s no need to act like your boss is checking in on you. You’re 19 and an adult. You can go out whenever you want.”
After a pause, her smile remained gentle:
“Just don’t do anything you’re not supposed to.”
Jing Ye, who had just started to relax, felt her heart leap into her throat again. Did Jiang Sixian see something just now? God, I swear I didn’t have any bad intentions.
But before she could explain, Jiang Sixian changed the subject. Her tone was light, as if she were discussing the weather:
“Oh, A-Jing, when I get back next week, let’s go for a checkup. I have to give my grandfather an explanation. We’ve been married for a year now, and it’s around this time that Alphas and Omegas start thinking about having children. You’ll be turning 20 soon and will be of legal age.”
Jing Ye thought she had misheard. She repeated the key part of what she said in shock:
“A checkup?”
“Yes, a checkup.”
Jiang Sixian on the video call smiled, her eyes curving into crescents. She was naturally beautiful, and her every feature was filled with a gentle warmth that made it hard to look away. But Jing Ye felt completely uncomfortable because of what she had said.
A checkup for what?
She wasn’t an Alpha. A checkup would reveal her secret! Once it was discovered that she was a Beta pretending to be an Alpha, there would be no way to explain it. The entire plot would collapse, and since she was new to this world and not yet familiar with it, leaving abruptly would be a huge risk. But of course, she couldn’t refuse Jiang Sixian’s request for a checkup.
The woman on the other end brushed a strand of hair from her ear and, after glancing at some documents, said softly:
“Besides, your susceptible period should be coming up soon. Don’t worry, since we’re married, I won’t let you bear all the risks alone.”
This was a very clear hint. If she had said this to the original owner, the original owner would have been overjoyed and would have already cleaned herself up and been waiting to mark the Omega she had been dreaming of.
Jing Ye could barely manage a smile. With sheer willpower, she managed to wave goodbye to Jiang Sixian. After hanging up, she returned to the room with a dark expression on her face.
She couldn’t even bother to look at what her fair-weather friends were doing. Her mind was completely occupied with the fact that Jiang Sixian wanted to take her for a checkup. If she, a live-in Beta, was discovered to be a Beta during the checkup, her journey would come to an end. The system had previously stated that she had to survive under Jiang Sixian until the contract expired, otherwise her new life could also be taken away. This was a real problem.
Seeing Jing Ye’s inattentive state, Zhu Xichen, who had already argued with her, didn’t bother to pay attention to her. After a few words of reproach, she was completely smitten by an Omega next to her and left with the Omega wrapped around her arm.
Jing Ye wanted to leave too, but Chen Yue hooked her arm around her neck and asked with a mix of gossip and concern:
“What’s wrong with you lately? Is something going on at home? What’s the point of keeping it all to yourself? Tell your sisters, and we’ll help you figure it out.”
Jing Ye’s head was already throbbing, but hearing Chen Yue’s words made her feel a little better. These people were all party animals, so they might have some knowledge in this area. Of course, she couldn’t say it was about herself, so she subtly asked:
“My wife’s cousin’s friend had a differentiation prediction that said there was a 50% chance he wouldn’t transform. He doesn’t want to be a Beta, and his girlfriend is an Omega. A Beta can’t be with an Omega. What do you think he should do?”
“A 50% chance? That’s not low.” Chen Yue genuinely wanted to help her with her problem. She thought Jing Ye was just trying to please the Jiang family, so she leaned in and whispered a few things in her ear with a grin.
Jing Ye’s face turned beet red, but she could only pretend to understand.
After the party finally ended, she had the driver take her home, then she secretly went out again. She didn’t want anyone to see what she was doing. Although she had a specific purpose, this was the first time in her twenty years of life that she was doing something like this, and it felt very embarrassing.
However, she didn’t expect that as soon as she left the house, the idle butler would accurately notice her movements and promptly report them to Jiang Sixian.
“Miss Jing went into an adult store and seemed to have bought some…” The butler hesitated, but still reported truthfully, “…things to get people in the mood?”
