The Rebirth of the Socialite's Glory (GL) - Chapter 13
Ye Qiu!
She was certain her memory wasn’t faulty; Ye Qiu had absolutely not appeared in Country M in her previous life, and it was even more impossible for her to show up at this finance competition. Not to mention whether Ye Qiu was excellent enough to be invited, just Ye Qiu’s background alone was definitely not enough to touch the edge of this competition.
Could this Ye Qiu merely be a namesake?
Or, had Ye Qiu already recognized Feng Heng ahead of time, and then with Feng Heng’s full support, Ye Qiu was sent here?
The latter conjecture gave Feng Hua a chilling cold sweat. Feng Hua continuously comforted herself, telling herself not to worry. At worst, she would lose everything back home, but now she had more than just the Feng family; she could rely on herself now. She would not lose, don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid!
However, the trauma left from her previous life was not so easily overcome. She kept her eyes wide open, unable to sleep, until her body could no longer endure it, and the exhaustion of her body gradually pulled her into slumber.
The final round of the competition was in three days. During these three days, the ten contestants were free to move around, resting for three days in their own way, relaxing and adjusting their state.
Feng Hua slept straight until the afternoon of the second day. When she woke up, her stomach made an unseemly rumbling sound. If it weren’t for the fact that she was the only one here, she thought she would definitely dig a hole and bury herself.
Feng Hua yanked open the curtains. Sunlight scrambled to rush into the room, illuminating the originally desolate room and warming it up. Outside the window, traffic flowed, and she could clearly see fashionably dressed men, women, and children of all ages passing by. Pretty, colorful flags fluttered in the wind.
Feng Hua merely glanced outside, then turned to enter the bathroom to wash up.
She hadn’t brought many clothes on this trip to N City, intending to buy more clothes here to take back. With no other choice, she casually grabbed an outfit and entered the bathroom. After changing her clothes and combing her hair until it was sufficiently smooth, she looked at herself in the mirror for a full three minutes before returning to the bedroom.
Picking up her phone, there were hundreds of new text messages. Feng Hua saw that they were all messages of congratulation and encouragement from friends and classmates. Feng Hua replied to them one by one. There was also one from an unsaved number. Out of courtesy, Feng Hua also replied with a “Thank you.” The last message was from Anna, sent an hour ago, inviting her downstairs for a meal.
Feng Hua called Anna back, and hearing that she was waiting for her downstairs, she agreed without hesitation.
When leaving the room, Feng Hua used the metal next to the door as a mirror to check that her makeup was also sufficiently exquisite. Then, Feng Hua picked up her bag and walked down the stairs with rhythmic steps.
The Langham Hotel was famous not only for its long history and expensive prices, but also for its impeccable facilities, service, and dining. In this hotel, the individual rooms were naturally magnificent and flawless. The gym in the hotel’s basement was fully equipped and even included professional personal trainers. The indoor swimming pool, sauna, and steam room were delightful, and the world-renowned chefs, the gorgeous cocktail bar, and the time-honored classic afternoon tea were all surprising. Even more enticing was the hotel’s all-day offering of various global cuisines.
The exorbitant price paid to stay at this hotel guaranteed a comparable level of luxurious treatment. For the wealthy, this was an excellent place to stay.
At this time, there were few people in the indoor restaurant. Most had gone to the outdoor afternoon tea, the bar, or were out shopping. Therefore, Feng Hua easily found Anna, who resembled a beautiful, vibrant rose.
“Good day, Teacher Anna.” Feng Hua nodded at Anna. The waiter standing nearby thoughtfully pulled out a chair for her.
After sitting down, Feng Hua smiled at the handsome male waiter and ordered a few Z-Country dishes from the menu, plus a banana milk. After ordering, she looked at Anna and asked, “Would you like something?”
“I’ve eaten, just another glass of juice will do.” Anna casually checked an item on the menu.
Soon after, their ordered items were brought to the table.
“Very authentic Z-Country cuisine…” Feng Hua was surprised and looked up after tasting a few dishes.
Z-Country was a globally famous country of cuisine. Just like its language, Z-Country’s food was difficult to learn, or even if learned, it often wasn’t authentic. However, these few dishes tasted genuinely like local Z-Country cuisine.
“My dear, the chef who cooked Z-Country cuisine for you at the Langham Hotel must be a famous chef from Z-Country,” Anna explained with a smile. She looked at the food in the bowl, which had been prepared using strange methods. Although the aroma was enticing and mouthwatering, she was still deterred by the red chili peppers used as a side dish.
Feng Hua felt she should first check the details of this hotel, though it was also nice to gradually discover its surprises.
Rarely, Feng Hua ate until she was very full this time. The feeling of no longer being hungry or thirsty was wonderful. Gently covering her stomach, Feng Hua leaned obliquely against the chair, slightly less formal and more languid.
This was the first time in half a month that she had a proper meal. That grueling competition truly had the capacity to wear people down.
“You performed well this time. No, I should say you were exceptionally outstanding,” Anna said, looking at Feng Hua with an appreciative and focused gaze. “You are the only person from our college to enter the top ten. You have brought honor to the college.”
Feng Hua was not one to claim credit, humbly saying, “It is the result of the college and your good teaching, Mentor.”
Anna shook her head and smiled, “Actually, I never thought you could make it into the top ten. It is simply too difficult. But you brought a surprise, not only making it into the top ten but also ranking second in the theoretical competition. That is truly astonishing.”
“Who is the first place?” Feng Hua was startled. She had only looked at the list of qualifiers and hadn’t checked the scores and rankings yet.
“Another young girl from Z-Country, the same age as you. Her name is Ye Qiu,” Anna praised, “Oh, the powerful Z-Country.”
Feng Hua’s fingernails dug into the flesh of her palm.
Anna noticed Feng Hua’s expression was a little off, but she didn’t probe, skillfully changing the subject. Feng Hua also deliberately followed the topic, diverting her attention.
Neither of them noticed that a pair of eyes was watching them from a distance.
“Is there anything I can help you with?” the waiter asked with concern.
“No need, thank you,” a low, cold female voice replied, containing a metallic timbre that exuded a strange charm.
Anna and Feng Hua sat there for over an hour. Anna suggested going to the indoor swimming pool for a swim.
Swimming was a highly favored exercise among fitness enthusiasts. Its body-shaping ability was naturally powerful. Anna was a fervent fitness lover, which was evident from her perfect figure and firm skin.
Feng Hua wasn’t keen on fitness, but she particularly enjoyed swimming. It not only maintained her figure but was also a very enjoyable activity.
After swimming for about forty minutes, seeing that Anna was still enthusiastically taking selfies, her beautiful, fair body vaguely visible in the pool, she said goodbye and went to change her clothes.
Walking into the private changing room, as soon as Feng Hua entered, she felt the breathing of another person. Alerted, she planned to back out, but someone grabbed her and pushed her against the wall. The door of the changing room snapped shut, locked tight.
In the quiet changing room, gasps and breaths became exceptionally clear. The opponent’s scorching breath hit Feng Hua’s earlobe.
In this position, Feng Hua couldn’t see the person’s face. At this moment, she was like prey captured by a hunter, her weakness firmly grasped by the other, not daring to move.
