- The Reincarnated Young Lady Will Finally Grasp Happiness This Time!
- Episode 6 - Marina’s Perspective (Part 1)
Everything is so frustrating. It has been two years since I was chosen as a candidate to be Prince Ryan’s fiancée, yet he still hasn’t chosen me. I am beautiful, intelligent, and from a noble duke family that could support the royal family.
I am the one who deserves to be Prince Ryan’s wife.
For some reason, my father, the Duke, only comes to the royal capital when absolutely necessary.
After receiving the offer to be a candidate, I moved from my family’s estate to the royal capital to receive training as a future princess. I now live in my father’s mansion in the capital along with the butlers and servants.
My father, however, spends only about a third of the month here, always returning to our estate, saying he is too busy with work.
When he is in the capital, he sometimes looks troubled, his face dark and heavy.
My mother rarely leaves our estate due to illness, but she is always kind to me. However, she often fights with my father. Whenever they argue, she mutters things like, “This isn’t how it was supposed to be… It’s all that person’s fault.”
Who is that person?
I want to know, but I can’t bring myself to ask my mother. Even when I ask the butlers and servants, they all refuse to answer. It feels like there is some kind of secret being kept from me, and it gives me an uneasy feeling.
Did something happen in this mansion in the past? Unlike our estate, this is supposed to be my home, yet I always feel uncomfortable here. But maybe that’s just because people are intimidated by my beauty and talent.
One day, when I was still living on our estate, I decided to send a letter to my grandparents on a whim, even though I had never met them. But I never received a reply.
Since they are barons, a much lower rank than a duke, they probably feel too nervous to speak to me. I suppose that’s understandable. After that, I never heard from them again.
Then one day, my father spoke to me while he was working.
“Marina, we received a message from the royal palace. You have been chosen as a candidate to be the fiancée of the Third Prince, Ryan. You will be moving to the capital for your training as a future princess.”
“Father, is it true?! I’m so happy! His Majesty the King must have recognized my worth!”
“…They simply called noble ladies of high rank who are around Prince Ryan’s age. Don’t misunderstand the situation.”
Even though this was an important announcement, my father’s expression didn’t change at all. He must have expected this outcome and is just trying to stay calm.
“Hehe, of course, I will be the one to marry the prince. And maybe, someday, I could even become queen. I need to start thinking about that now.
I must move to the capital immediately and begin my princess training. Father, please arrange for my move as soon as possible.”
When I told my mother about being chosen as a candidate, she smiled and said, “No matter what it takes, make sure you secure Prince Ryan. Do you understand? You are a duke’s daughter. If anyone tries to stand in your way, use your title to crush them.”
She’s absolutely right.
My mother rose from being a baron’s daughter to a duchess by defeating countless noble ladies. I must not lose either.
So, I moved to the capital as quickly as possible to begin my training to become Prince Ryan’s wife—or perhaps even queen. Then, I sent another letter to my grandparents, feeling it was necessary. This time, I finally received a reply from my grandfather.
“Congratulations. That’s good news. But we are of low status. We don’t want to cause trouble, so you don’t need to contact us anymore.”
It seems they don’t want any favors from me, even though I will be a princess.
My father’s relatives also only interact with us when necessary. Apparently, I have cousins, but I’ve never met them.
It’s strange, isn’t it? Perhaps they are jealous of us, and my father is keeping them away.
After I became a candidate, my training as a future princess began. My teachers often praised me, saying I was more talented than the other noble ladies.
During tea parties hosted by the queen or my meetings with Prince Ryan, the other candidates always glare at me.
As the leading candidate, I can’t afford to lose.
I often host tea parties at my mansion for the other candidates. They are always lively and fun.
Once, Prince Ryan himself attended. He smiled so beautifully while drinking his tea and said, “I’m lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful flowers.”
Prince Ryan is handsome, kind to everyone, and simply perfect. He must be my husband! I need to work even harder to make that happen.
Now that I am old enough, I will soon enter the academy. I’m excited because I’ll be able to spend more time with Prince Ryan. I’ll also be able to keep an eye on the other candidates and make sure they don’t get too close to him.
…But then, on the very first day of school, I learned about her.
Lia Notes, the daughter of a marquis. She has light magic—something rare. Until recently, she didn’t have any magic at all.
During a royal palace tea party, she was caught in a magic outburst from another noble boy and lost consciousness. When she woke up, she suddenly had light magic.
Even though we’re in the same class, she didn’t even greet me, a duke’s daughter! How rude. But with her rare magic, the royal family will surely try to bring her into their circle.
I need to keep an eye on her.
At first, she didn’t seem interested in Prince Ryan, which was a relief.
But that didn’t last long.
One day, I saw Prince Ryan invite her to lunch.
I’ve never even had a private meal with him! How frustrating!
Just because she has light magic…
I won’t allow anyone else to get close to Prince Ryan. I need to put her in her place.
