- The Saint is Not My Sister, The Real Saint is Me
- Episode 1 - I Am the True Saint, Yet My Foolish Family
In the Finable Empire, the Kotokoris Baron family was blessed with a saint.
Before the saint was born, the Kotokoris territory was barren, with polluted land where no plants could grow. However, after her birth, the land was purified and flourished with abundant harvests.
The saint protected the land, brought forth prosperity, and healed the wounded with her restorative magic. She was revered as the Saint of Kotokoris.
That saint was my twin sister—Emil.
“—Lord Ruki, what is the meaning of this?”
“Yuna!? Why are you back so soon!?”
The scene before me upon my return home was my fiancé, Ruki, and my younger twin sister Emil, their bodies pressed together in an intimate and indecent manner.
My sister and I were identical twins in appearance, but there was one difference—my hair was straight, while hers was naturally wavy.
“I asked you a question. I’ll say it again—why are you in Emil’s room, Lord Ruki?”
My twin sister, who shared my face, was in bed with my fiancé.
It was disgusting, nauseating—there was no way he could talk his way out of this.
As I glared at him, demanding an answer, he finally resigned himself and spoke.
“Emil is my wife.”
“Wife…? You mean to tell me that you married my sister? While still engaged to me!?”
“Yes, a year ago.”
Ruki and I had been engaged for three years.
So, while still engaged to me, he married my sister!?
“Emil told me that even though I was engaged to you, she still loved me. She said she didn’t care and wanted to be with me. Her unwavering devotion moved me, and I chose to answer her feelings.”
“And how is that devotion? That’s just cheating!”
“Let me make one thing clear—you are the affair in this situation. You have no right to condemn our pure love.”
“I’m so sorry, Yuna… but I fell in love with Lord Ruki. Of course, I still love you too, my dear sister.”
“…Love me? After stealing my fiancé? Let me guess, Father and Mother are on your side, aren’t they? They always loved you more than me.”
“Father and Mother understood my feelings. They supported me. I love them so much.”
Since childhood, Emil was adored by our parents as the saint.
Meanwhile, I, who possessed no special powers, was treated as worthless, constantly compared to her.
Always smiling, always beloved, always showering others with affection—my sister was cherished by everyone.
“Yuna, I won’t allow you to blame Emil. To be honest, I wanted to get rid of you long ago, but Emil wanted to keep you around out of kindness. She’s truly a compassionate woman.”
“So you’re saying that after stealing my fiancé, she forced me to stay engaged to you? That’s just two-timing! How is that kindness!? It’s disgusting!”
“Yuna, please don’t be mad…! I didn’t want to hurt you…!”
“Yuna! How dare you insult your sister when she’s being so kind to you! You’re the disgrace here!”
No matter what Emil did, the moment she cried, I was the villain.
No one ever listened to my side of the story.
“At this point, I officially annul our engagement. Although, to be precise, it was already annulled a year ago.”
“…”
Father had annulled my engagement behind my back. All to grant Emil’s wishes.
“If only I had been engaged to Emil from the start, this would have been much easier. But Baron Kotokoris—my dear father-in-law—was reluctant to marry her off to me, so I had to settle for you.”
“…What? What do you mean settle for me?”
The first time I met Ruki was three years ago, when my father introduced him to me as my fiancé.
As the son of a Marquis, Ruki was far above my station. At first, I couldn’t believe I was given such a high-status engagement.
“I never wanted to be engaged to you. From the start, I only wanted to marry Saint Emil. But your father was too greedy. He wanted Emil to marry a Duke or even royalty. So I had to settle for you instead.”
“No…”
Emil, as a saint, received numerous marriage proposals from high-ranking nobles.
Father had higher ambitions for her. That’s why he forced Ruki to be engaged to me as a temporary substitute—just to maintain ties with Saint Emil.
So I was chosen out of compromise?
“I see. And then Emil persuaded Father to approve your marriage, is that it?”
“Yes. Father loves me dearly. When I told him I wanted to be with Ruki, he agreed.”
It was devastating.
Ruki had always been cold to me, but I had hoped that, over time, our bond would grow.
I thought he had chosen me.
But it was all a lie.
“Ruki chose me over you. He loves me more. So, Yuna… please give me your fiancé.”
She always did this.
She would tell me she loved me, while stealing everything I had.
“Yuna, you’re in the way of our love. Stop interfering.”
“Ruki, please don’t say such cruel things to my dear sister! Yuna, I’m sorry my husband spoke so harshly.”
“My husband.”
She stole my fiancé and dared to act like a concerned sister?
Emil always acted like she had no idea she was hurting me.
And everyone around her believed her every word.
“To think Emil is so compassionate, even to such an ungrateful sister. You, on the other hand, are truly wicked, Yuna.”
Emil was always right.
I was always wrong.
“Now, Yuna, go to your room and rest. We’re leaving for our honeymoon.”
“Yes, it was delayed because of Emil’s saintly duties. But now, I vow to cherish her and give her all my love.”
“Ruki…”
They gazed at each other, lost in their own world.
My heart froze over.
“Yuna, I know you’re upset now, but in time, you’ll calm down. Then, we can be loving sisters again.”
I had endured enough.
“Just because you say you love me, doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want.”
For so long, I endured.
Because she was family.
Because she was my twin.
But I’m done.
“I hate you, Emil.”
“Wha…? No… Yuna, you hate me?”
For the first time, I spoke my true feelings.
Emil’s eyes widened in shock.
Then, she burst into tears.
Ruki screamed at me, but I didn’t care anymore.
I had never felt so relieved.
“YUNA! How dare you make Emil cry!?”
Later, our parents summoned me.
“You worthless daughter! How dare you hurt your sister, the saint!”
“She stole my fiancé! And you still take her side!?”
“Of course! Emil is kind. She let you pretend to be engaged for your sake!”
No one was on my side.
I had no power.
I was useless.
“Sign this and get out.”
Father threw a disownment document at me.
If I signed it, I would no longer be a Kotokoris.
“…Fine.”
“You should be begging for forgiveness!”
Beg for what?
“Here. It’s done.”
“Good riddance! Now get out of my sight!”
They never loved me.
I didn’t need them.
“Goodbye, Baron Kotokoris. Baroness Kotokoris.”
I walked away.
I would never call them family again.
Even if they begged, I would never help them.
“The true saint is me.
And yet, those fools—they never even noticed.”
