The Saint is Not My Sister, The Real Saint is Me - Episode 14
Father, having been denied by all three of us, trembled with frustration.
“I hereby formally bestow upon Yuna the title of ‘Holy Maiden of the Finable Empire.'”
“—Huh?”
“Calling Yuna here was also for the purpose of conveying this. She has demonstrated achievements befitting of the Holy Maiden of the Finable Empire. Thus, I officially grant her this title.”
The Holy Maiden of the Finable Empire—was I truly receiving the title that the people had been calling me?
“I will not allow this! Never, Yuna!”
“Baron Kotokoris…”
Father, who had been dejected just moments ago, revived at the mention of the title and glared at me with burning intensity.
Being called a nickname by the people and being officially granted a title by His Majesty the Emperor carried a vastly different weight.
The title of Holy Maiden of the Finable Empire—bearing the name of the empire itself—was an honor comparable to that of a duke. No, perhaps even greater…?
“Why? Why someone like you?! Even Emil hasn’t been formally granted the title of Holy Maiden! So why is a failure like you receiving it?!”
“…It was you, Baron Kotokoris, who decided I was a failure, wasn’t it? How unfortunate for you that the daughter you cast aside turned out to be the more capable one.”
You threw me away yourself, so it’s too late for regrets now.
“Yuna!”
As he lunged at me in a fit of rage, Lord Rein swiftly restrained him with magic.
“Baron Kotokoris, such disrespect toward the Holy Maiden of the Finable Empire cannot be tolerated. It seems you need some time to cool your head.”
“W-What are you doing?! Stop! Where are you taking me?!”
With his movements sealed by Lord Rein’s magic, Father was swiftly taken away by the imperial knights.
“To the underground prison.”
“The underground… prison?!”
“Of course. You assaulted the Holy Maiden of the Finable Empire. This is only natural.”
The underground prison, located at the outskirts of the imperial palace, was a three-tatami-mat-sized cell with no sunlight. Prisoners received only one meager meal a day through the gaps in the walls. The filthy room, the stench, and the infestation of insects made it a place unfit for a nobleman.
“F-Forgive me! Your Majesty, please! I only wished to serve you! For the sake of the Finable Empire! I merely wanted to express that Emil would be more fitting as the Holy Maiden than this failure of a daughter!”
“Baron Kotokoris, mind your words.”
Duke Ainakura glared at Father with an expression as cold as absolute zero.
“Lady Yuna is now a person of higher status than you. Not only should you be mindful of your words, but you must also show proper respect in your gaze, tone, and attitude.”
I was once the pitiable daughter cast out by my own father, yet I had already surpassed him. Overwhelmingly so. How amusing.
“Baron Kotokoris, if we ever meet again, please use honorifics when addressing me.”
Oh, and don’t forget to add “Lady” as well. After all, I am now above you.
“Yuna…!”
That glare of yours won’t do either. Otherwise, even if you manage to get out of prison, you might find yourself right back in.
“Goodbye. Reflect on your actions.”
I watched as my former father was dragged away, crying and screaming.
His pitiful state stirred no sympathy in me. It was refreshing, if anything. Not a shred of pity. He brought this upon himself.
“Yuna, are you okay?”
Lord Rein spoke to me with concern.
“Yes, because you protected me.”
As expected of the strongest magic knight in history. He had gallantly shielded me from my father’s grasp.
“Your Majesty, Duke Ainakura thank you for believing in me.”
“Of course.”
“Indeed.”
“Though, Baron Kotokoris has been quite a nuisance. We’ve repeatedly warned him not to abuse the Holy Maiden’s power.”
“But since the people themselves desire the miracles, it’s difficult to suppress it completely.”
Emil, who had obtained my power, performed healing magic so miraculous that even supposedly incurable wounds and near-death conditions could be healed.
Even if such miracles came at an exorbitant price, there was no end to those who sought them.
I had expected Emil’s power to fade much sooner…
Perhaps because she was my twin, or because I had granted her power for so long, Emil was still able to use her healing magic as effectively as before, even months after we had been separated.
“Baron Kotokoris has also gained backing from noble houses through the Holy Maiden.”
“…Marquis Shainacle’s heir is among them, isn’t he?”
Marquis Shainacle’s heir, Lord Luki. He was my former fiancé, stolen by my younger sister, Emil, who is now his wife.
“That family has been troublesome as well. Luki is ambitious and calculating. He was desperate to obtain the Holy Maiden in order to secure his place as the head of House Shainacle.”
As the eldest of three siblings, Lord Luki was considered the next head of the marquis family, but both of his younger brothers were exceptionally talented. To solidify his claim, he sought the Holy Maiden’s power.
He initially lost that battle for Emil and settled for me, her sister, but my sister, who always desired what was mine, managed to take him for herself.
“Now that I think about it, ever since Luki married the Holy Maiden, Baron Kotokoris’s demands have grown increasingly unreasonable. Perhaps Luki has been whispering advice into his ear.”
