- Episode 29 - Please Go Straight to Hell
You wanted to meet with me repeatedly through letters—was it to align our stories?
Did you really think I would cooperate with you, Lord Luki? You assumed I liked you, and that’s where everything went wrong.
There’s no way I could ever like a despicable man like you.
“Luki! Are you telling me that everything was a lie!? Were you trying to deceive me!?”
As expected, Lord Georg erupted in furious rage.
“You…! Mimosa… You!”
“Luki, you’ve gone too far. Even if you inherit the Shinacle Marquis, it won’t end well.”
Lord Luki glared at Lord Mimosa, realizing that he was the one who had exposed everything. But Mimosa remained unfazed and responded coolly.
“Give up and hand over the position of head of the family to me. Just leave this place already.”
I agree. Lord Luki is unfit to be the head of the Marquisate.
“Isn’t Lord Luki the fiancé of that fake Saint of Kotokoris? The former fiancé of Lady Yuna?”
“I heard that Lady Emil meddled and tore them apart, but it seems the truth was quite different. Lord Luki betrayed Lady Yuna along with Lady Emil.”
“How foolish for a Marquis’ son. Unbelievable.”
The nobles, upon hearing my revelations, all turned their gazes toward Lord Luki in contempt.
“Y-Yuna! Please, help me! It’s all Emil’s fault! I was deceived by her! I’ve always loved you, but she manipulated me!”
Realizing his precarious situation, Lord Luki desperately pleaded with me.
He tried to put all the blame on Emil, acting as if he were merely a victim. Worse still, he shamelessly claimed that he and I had always cared for each other.
Did he really think he could get away with such an outrageous lie?
“Even if you were deceived, the fact remains that you betrayed me, doesn’t it? And I also know about the questionable advice you received from your father—the Baron of Kotokoris. Now, what is it you plan to do by obtaining this Saint? Are you going to beg His Majesty for a title next?”
“! Shut up! Don’t say another word! You were the one desperate for my attention! You were in love with me! I was willing to love someone like you, someone who’s never been loved by anyone!”
“…Love? You think I loved you?”
I never loved you, Lord Luki.
But… I had thought that, at the very least, you had chosen me as your fiancée instead of Emil. So, I tried to love you. I tried to build a relationship with you. I put in the effort.
When I saw you cheating on me with Emil, I was shocked.
But you know what? I’m grateful. Thanks to you never sparing me a second glance, I never truly fell for you in the first place.
I should thank you for that.
You were cold to me, so I’ll return the favor in kind.
“There’s absolutely no way I could ever love someone like you, Lord Luki.”
It was the right choice not to fall for a wretched man like you.
“You…!”
“Enough! Luki, I will decide your punishment later. Leave this place at once!”
Lord Georg, holding his head in his hands in exasperation over his son’s disgraceful conduct, signaled the attendants to remove him.
“Father! No, you don’t understand! I should be the one to inherit the Shainacle Marquisate! If I obtain the Saint, I can make our house prosper! With her power, I can surpass Lord Rein! Everything will go perfectly! For that, I—”
“Be silent! Get out of my sight!”
“Father!”
Dragged away by the attendants, Lord Luki was finally removed from the room.
“Lady Yuna, I deeply apologize for my son’s disgraceful behavior.”
Lord Georg and Lord Mimosa bowed deeply in apology in place of Luki.
“No, neither of you are to blame.”
“Your kind words are appreciated. However, I still bear responsibility for failing to see through my son’s foolishness. I suspected something was wrong, but I assumed Emil, a woman vile enough to impersonate a Saint, had simply deceived him…”
How could such an upright and serious man have a son like that?
Perhaps his overwhelming inferiority complex, growing up with two exceptional younger brothers, led him down this path.
“Lord Rein, I also owe you an apology. I often told Luki to ‘learn from the brilliant Lord Rein.’ That may have fueled his resentment toward you.”
“I don’t mind. After all, it’s true that I am brilliant.”
The fact that he can say that so naturally, without sounding arrogant, is what makes Lord Rein truly remarkable.
“Lady Yuna, in place of Luki, the Shinacle Marquis will do whatever it takes to make amends. If you have any requests, please don’t hesitate to ask.”
Lord Mimosa, the mastermind behind the plan to send Luki to ruin, spoke with unwavering resolve.
They’re not at fault. I know that.
But I doubt they’ll be satisfied unless I say something.
