The Saint is Not My Sister, The Real Saint is Me - Episode 50
“Welcome home, Lady Yuna, Lord Rein.”
“Lady Mimosa.”
As soon as we arrived at the Ainakura Ducal Residence, Lady Mimosa greeted us while leisurely enjoying tea as if she owned the place.
“What are you doing here?”
“Oh, don’t make such a face when your dear friend comes to visit, Rein. I just wanted to see you. The maids kindly prepared some tea for me.”
After finishing her remark to Lord Rein, Lady Mimosa turned her gaze toward me.
“Congratulations on your engagement to Rein, Lady Yuna.”
“Thank you, Lady Mimosa. You already knew?”
“Yes.”
Our engagement had only just been decided, yet she already knew about it? I found it strange, but I chose not to pursue the matter further.
“I never thought Rein would ever fall in love with a woman, so I was quite surprised.”
“Surprised…?”
“Yes. Rein has always been approached by countless women, yet he never once paid them any attention. No matter the situation, he remained composed, handling everything indifferently, never showing any attachment or interest in anything. That’s why he never entertained Duke Luki or Lord Hueish’s competitive advances, which only made them more determined to challenge him.”
Now that I think about it, both Lord Luki and Lord Hueish openly displayed hostility toward Lord Rein.
“But after meeting you, Lady Yuna, Rein began to show genuine emotions, reacting like an ordinary person. Not only I but also His Majesty and Duke Ainakura could clearly see that Rein held special feelings for you.”
While I was struggling with my own uncertainty, it seems that everyone who knew Rein well had already figured it out.
“So? Mimosa, why are you really here? Did you come all this way just to congratulate us?”
“Of course not. I’m not that free. I came to give you a warning.”
“A warning?”
“Duke Luki has divorced Lady Emil and returned.”
“…What?”
Lord Luki and Emil… divorced?
“That was quite sudden.”
I had expected them to divorce eventually, but I thought Lord Luki would remain with Emil since he had nowhere else to go…
“It seems that Lady Emil was the one who demanded the divorce. Apparently, she has awakened to what she calls ‘true love.'”
“‘True love’?”
I had a very bad feeling about this.
“Apparently, Lady Emil has fallen in love with Rein.”
I knew it…
“How annoying. I only have Yuna. I have no intention of entertaining any other woman, not even for a moment.”
“Of course, we all know that. But unfortunately, that flower-brained lady does not.”
Declaring that she had found her true love, Lady Emil had told Lord Luki,
“I never wanted to marry you! I always wanted to be with Lord Rein! We were lovers, cruelly torn apart by fate!”—all while crying dramatically.
“The moment Lord Luki returned, he was absolutely livid. ‘I married that selfish woman, and this is how she repays me?!’ he fumed.”
Honestly, they both seemed equally troublesome.
More importantly, Emil’s obsession with Lord Rein was terrifying. Could it be that she truly loved him now…?
“And so, Lord Luki is currently staying at the Shainacle Marquisate. For now, he’s assisting me with my duties, but it’s obvious he isn’t satisfied with the situation.”
Lord Luki had already lost everyone’s trust because of how he treated me during our engagement. That’s why he ran away to the Kotokoris territory. But now, with his divorce finalized, he had no choice but to return.
“I wanted to inform you both before he caused any trouble.”
“You sound as if you’re certain he will cause trouble. How can you be so sure?”
“Let me ask you this instead, Lady Yuna. Do you think Lady Emil will quietly back down without causing more trouble?”
“…No.”
There was no way Emil would simply walk away. I was absolutely certain she would stir up more trouble.
“It’s the same with Lord Luki. As his brother, I know him too well.”
That made sense.
“Just as Lady Emil is fixated on Rein, Lord Luki may once again try to claim you, Lady Yuna, in an attempt to restore his honor.”
“I… No! I… I only want to be with Lord Rein. I can’t accept anyone else!”
“Yuna…”
“Save the flirting for when you two are alone.”
“F-Flirting!? I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…”
“Haha. You really are pure-hearted, Lady Yuna—completely different from Lady Emil.”
What on earth had Emil been doing in her husband’s household? Did she really act shamelessly affectionate in front of her in-laws? That thought alone terrified me.
“Of course, I have people keeping an eye on my brother. But just in case, I wanted to warn you. Especially with that flower-brained Lady Emil in the picture.”
Soon, with the approval of His Majesty and Duke Ainakura, my engagement to Lord Rein would be formally announced. Once that happened, there was no telling what my thoughtless sister might do.
“Lady Emil is now isolated in Kotokoris territory, abandoned even by the people there. Only Baron Kotokoris and his wife still believe in her.”
Father, Mother… how stubborn can you be? Do you love Emil that much? You never once believed in me…
“In any case, do not let your guard down. Both Lord Luki and Lady Emil are undeniably fixated on you two.”
“…Yes, I understand.”
Lord Luki and Emil, always interfering with my happiness.
I wish they would just leave me alone. If they could simply stay quiet and behave, I wouldn’t have to do anything.
But if they dare to hurt me again—
I will show no mercy.
