- Episode 52 - The Airheaded Emil Strikes
“Do you need something?”
“How cold. Are we not allowed to talk unless there’s a reason? Despite the relationship between you and me, Yuna-sama?”
What relationship? There’s nothing between me and Luki-sama anymore.
“You’re my former fiancé whose engagement was annulled. What could we possibly have to talk about? I have nothing to say to you.”
I have completely severed ties with Luki-sama. I hate him. As I made this clear in front of everyone, I heard the murmurs of amusement directed at Luki-sama.
“He’s completely ignored by the Saint of the Finable Empire.”
“He threw away Yuna-sama himself, and now look at him—what a pitiful man.”
“Tch!”
For someone as prideful as Luki-sama, this must be humiliating.
If he didn’t want to be ridiculed, he should have just stayed silent in the corner, ignored by everyone, just like I once was. Then, at least, he wouldn’t have embarrassed himself like this.
“You sisters are both so insolent! If only you would just shut up and do as I say! I was willing to marry you, and you should be grateful!”
Just because you got dumped after claiming you found “true love” doesn’t mean you can lump Emil and me together. And the fact that you still talk down to me is infuriating.
“Marry Luki-sama? What is this, some kind of punishment game?”
“What did you say!?”
“It’s just the truth. Do you honestly think there’s a single noble lady in this empire who would want to marry you?”
After being disowned as the heir of the Shainacle Marquisate, abandoning me—the Saint of the Finable Empire—cheating with my sister, and annulling our engagement, you’ve completely destroyed your reputation. You’re the very definition of a disgraceful man.
“I’m so glad I didn’t have to marry someone as unfaithful as you, Luki-sama. Thanks to that, I was able to get engaged to someone truly wonderful—Rein-sama.”
It’s a bit embarrassing to say it so openly, but I don’t mind flaunting it in front of everyone. It’s the truth, after all. Rein-sama is a hundred times—no, thousands of times more wonderful than Luki-sama. There’s no comparison.
“You…! Yuna, you dare—!”
Luki-sama, with his short temper, quickly lost control and raised his hand. Ah, I’m really glad I never loved someone like this.
“—Luki.”
Before he could bring his hand down, a cold, murderous voice echoed through the hall, making him freeze in place.
“If you lay a hand on Yuna, you won’t get away with it.”
“Rein-sama…!”
Against Rein-sama, an elite magic knight, someone as powerless as Luki-sama wouldn’t stand a chance. He must have realized it too because he quietly lowered his hand.
“Damn it…! Why!? I was engaged to Yuna first! If I had just married her, everything would have been mine!”
“A man like you is not worthy of Yuna.”
*”That’s right! The idea of marrying Luki-sama is absolutely repulsive!”
*”A disgrace to the Shainacle Marquisate!”
“Does he still think he’s important?”
The nobles attending the Shainacle Marquisate’s banquet echoed Rein-sama’s words.
Once, as the eldest son of the Shainacle Marquisate, Luki-sama was admired in high society, with noble ladies fawning over him. But now, he was nothing more than an outcast, cast aside without a second thought.
It’s all in the past now. It’s too late.
“…Heh, haha… Hahaha! You’re right. There’s no way I can restore my reputation now. I’ll never be able to surpass Rein-sama! I’ll never regain my position as heir to the Shainacle Marquisate!”
As the servants of the Shainacle Marquisate moved to restrain Luki-sama, he suddenly burst into maniacal laughter.
…Laughing like that out of nowhere—has he lost his mind?
“But in that case, let’s go down together, Rein-sama. Let’s both be consumed by that selfish woman!”
That selfish woman… could he mean—
“Rein-sama!”
The moment the unwelcome guest arrived, the hall was filled with hushed whispers.
“Emil.”
Why? Why does Emil always appear before me, trying to ruin my happiness?
There’s no way the Shainacle Marquisate’s hostess, Mimosa-sama, would have sent an invitation to Emil, the daughter of the Kotokoris Baron family. The only way she could have entered this banquet was if Luki-sama had arranged it.
“I’m so glad… I finally found you, Rein-sama.”
The way Emil looked at Rein-sama—it was unmistakably the gaze of someone in love.
This wasn’t like with Luki-sama, when she was just trying to take something from me. No, this time, Emil was truly in love with Rein-sama, just like I was.
“Rein-sama! I know that you were forced into an engagement with my sister against your will! I came to save you!”
She said it with a blissful expression as if it were the undeniable truth, despite it being a complete lie.
“Rein-sama, come to me quickly. Hold me in your arms, just like you always do. Ah, I love you, Rein-sama.”
How dare she say something so misleading in front of everyone?
She’ll do anything—say anything—to take Rein-sama away from me.
She’s trying to steal my fiancé again.
What a horrible sister.
I hate her. I really, really hate her.
