The Saint is Not My Sister, The Real Saint is Me - Episode 6
“Good work, Yuna.”
“I was so nervous…”
Inside the carriage on our way back from the royal palace, exhaustion from tension and accumulated fatigue overtook me. Despite being in front of Lord Rein, I leaned against the wall.
“Really? At the end, you looked quite composed.”
“I was just desperate.”
I was also fed up with my family’s and Emil’s foolishness.
I had believed she was saving people as a saint, but I never imagined she was acting so selfishly.
“Could you find someone who can use healing magic? I can’t use magic myself, so we need a replacement for Emil.”
By myself, I have no power. My magic only manifests its true value when someone else is there.
“I can use healing magic.”
“You can!?”
I had heard that Lord Rein was a magic knight and the most powerful magician in history, but I never expected him to be capable of healing magic as well.
Healing magic is a rare ability, with fewer people able to use it compared to other forms of magic. That was why my parents believed Emil, who possessed such a rare power, was the saint.
“The reason I sought out the saint was because of what His Majesty said about the land’s restoration. The saint—your sister—has refused to continue her saintly duties for the past year. I went to ask her to resume her work.
A year ago… That was the year Lord Luki and Emil got married.
Now that I think about it, Emil’s activities as a saint did decrease. I had naïvely assumed it was simply because times were peaceful. But in reality, she just wanted more time to flirt with Lord Luki.
“Have you ever met Emil before, Lord Rein?”
“No. My father and His Majesty handled all the discussions directly.”
Even though my sister and I look very similar, he showed no sign of recognition when we first met.
“Actually, a long time ago, Baron Kotokoris proposed a marriage alliance between me and your sister.”
“What?
My sister?
Father wanted a good match for Emil, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he hoped for an engagement with Lord Rein, the second son of a duke and the most powerful magic knight in history.
“Back then, the saint already had a terrible reputation, and I thought marrying such a woman would be the worst thing imaginable. But I considered accepting if it meant gaining a connection to the saint.”
However, both Lord Rein’s brother and father, as well as even His Majesty, stopped it.
“As a noble, I had resigned myself to the possibility of a loveless marriage, but I was relieved when they stopped it. That’s why I was prepared to beg, even if it meant bowing to the ground or being used by Baron Kotokoris, for the sake of restoring the land.
But then, I met you, Yuna, and suddenly, everything became clear.”
Lord Rein’s expression as he spoke was incredibly gentle, yet for some reason, I also sensed a passionate intensity.
“I’m glad you are the saint, Yuna.”
“Ah… Thank you.”
Being told that made me feel embarrassed, but it also made me happy.
“His Majesty has formally granted permission for the Ainakura ducal family to take care of you, and I have been assigned as your personal magic knight.”
“My personal magic knight!? Lord Rein!?”
“Yes. From now on, I’ll be at your service, Yuna.”
To think that Lord Rein, the son of Duke Ainakura, Â would be protecting me… It made me feel like I had suddenly become someone important.
“From now on, I will remove all obstacles in your path as the saint. So, Yuna, rely on me without hesitation.”
“…Yes, I look forward to working with you.”
I never imagined I would take on the role of the saint…
Until now, I had lived in my sister’s shadow, treated as the useless elder twin.
“The saint is working so hard to save people, yet her sister just stands there, doing nothing. What was even the point of being born as the other half of a twin?”
“She must have had all her good qualities stolen by her sister.”
Emil always took me along to her saintly duties, but she never let me do anything. She only wanted me by her side to take care of her.
She knew exactly what people were saying about me.
“Yuna, it’s so sad that people call you useless… But please, don’t do anything. Just live for my sake.”
I hated accompanying her. But if I didn’t lend my strength to my sister, then the wounded and suffering wouldn’t be saved.
And besides, we were family—twins. I had to help her.
“I love you, Yuna.”
—I hate you.
I whispered it in my heart.
I had always hidden my true feelings, endured everything, and lived as my sister’s shadow.
But now, I will live as the saint.
The people of Kotokoris territory will surely be shocked when they learn that I am the true saint.
They looked down on me and treated me as inferior to my sister.
I look forward to the day when my name and accomplishments reach even the distant borders of Kotokoris territory.
