- Episode 7 - The Saint of the Finable Empire
Several months had passed since I was disowned by the Kotokoris Baron family—
As a saint, I spent my days revitalizing lands, traveling to regions struck by disasters, and granting power to Lord- Rein to heal the wounded.
“Thank you, Lord Rein.”
“No, this healing magic is only possible because of the saint’s power, so please direct your gratitude to her instead.”
“Oh, I see. Thank you, Rein.”
Each time people thanked him, Rein made sure to explain that it was my power as well. He didn’t have to… Lord-Rein is such a sincere person.
“Lord-Rein, please have this. These are vegetables harvested from the garden today. Ever since you blessed the land, our crops have grown strong and healthy.”
“Wow, these tomatoes look delicious! Thank you, I’ll gladly take them.”
The magic that brings vitality and fertility to the land had now been officially recognized as my power, and people had come to appreciate it.
No one interfered anymore when I talked to someone, received gifts, or helped others. My sister used to constantly pester me with things like, “Who did you talk to besides me?” or “You don’t need something like this, do you, Yuna?” or even, “You just need to stay by my side, so don’t do anything.”
Life without those interferences was truly comfortable and free.
“Mmm, it’s delicious.”
Taking a big bite, I found the freshly picked vegetable to be incredibly juicy and flavorful.
“Yuna, that looks tasty.”
“Would you like some too, Lord-Rein? I received plenty, so please have some.”
“Thank you.”
Lord-Rein took one and sat down beside me.
We were currently in a remote town, far from the imperial capital. When we first arrived, the land was barren—withered plants, dried-up water sources, and cracked, parched earth.
“You said you wanted to live freely, but I ended up bringing you all the way out here. I’m sorry.”
“No, I’m just glad the land has been restored.”
The scene before us now was completely different—lush green fields, crops sprouting in the farmlands, a flowing river teeming with fish.
“Besides, I’m free now. I can live without worrying about my sister’s watchful eyes.”
My sister had an unhealthy obsession with me, pulling people away from me whenever I spoke to them.
Because of that, I eventually stopped talking to others. Not that it mattered much—most people disliked me anyway.
“About your sister… proving that she’s a false saint has been difficult. Many people have seen her act as one.”
While I lived in my sister’s shadow, she had, to some extent, performed the duties of a saint.
Since she isn’t a real saint, she can’t restore land, so if I continue my work, inconsistencies will start to show. However, right now, she has ceased all activity.
“It seems that she’s still healing those who seek the saint’s power in the Kotokoris territory. But the Kotokoris baron is demanding exorbitant fees for her miracles. If people can’t pay, he’s even asking them to send their sons and daughters to become servants.”
…Father, please don’t disappoint me any further.
I always knew he was arrogant, but I didn’t realize he had become so tyrannical.
Now that I’ve left and learned more about the outside world, I can only shake my head at my former family’s disgraceful actions.
“You don’t have to go out of your way to prove that my sister is a fake. Once my power fully leaves her, she won’t be able to perform miracles anymore.”
We had been together for so long—perhaps because we were twins—so my power had lingered within her for a long time. Even after several months, Emil still retained some of it.
But that, too, was only a matter of time. Eventually, her deception would crumble.
“I understand that, but I’m more concerned about the increasing number of victims.”
“Ah… You’re right.”
The Kotokoris baron continued to make outrageous demands from those seeking the saint’s blessings.
“Well, the rumors about a new saint are starting to spread, so the number of victims should decrease soon.”
“You mean… me?”
“Of  course.”
Over the past few months, my work as a saint had become well known throughout the Finable Empire.
“People have started calling you the ‘Saint of the Finable Empire.'”
“The Saint of the Finable Empire?”
Emil was known as the ‘Saint of Kotokoris,’ but my title seemed to carry a much grander scale.
“You treat everyone equally, kindly, and simply walking upon the land restores it. People admire you as the true Saint of the Finable Empire.”
“I-I’m not such an extraordinary person…”
I had help from the Ainakura  ducal family and the imperial household. This wasn’t my achievement alone.
“You’re too humble. If only the so-called Saint of Kotokoris had even a fraction of that humility.”
Yeah, I doubt that. Emil is the type who thinks she deserves admiration and love from everyone.
“I plan to leave here tomorrow and return to the imperial capital. You’ll have some time to rest, so live as freely as you like for now.”
“Alright, thank you.”
Lord-Rein had stayed by my side as my personal magic knight, always supporting and cherishing me.
Until now, no one had ever treasured me, praised me, recognized me, thanked me, or protected me.
But now, I had people who treated me with kindness.
I was truly happy.
Ah, I’m so glad I cut ties with that family and left Kotokoris territory.
