The Savior Says She's Having a Breakdown - Chapter 14
Chapter 14: Alpha Star Nation (Part 2)
The spacecraft landed smoothly at the spaceport. Feng Qingyu walked ahead of Yuna, following Maggie. As soon as they exited the port, they saw Hena already waiting at the exit with a motorcade.
Sitting in the luxurious car, which looked no different from those on Earth but was actually driven by AI, Feng Qingyu looked out the window. Landing on Planet Alpha again, she finally saw the scenery beyond Maggie’s garden.
There were no suspended buildings envisioned in science fiction, nor were there any bizarre vehicles. Looking at the roadsides, everything was similar to Earth, which gave her a sense of familiarity.
However, most of the buildings here were European-style, just as their clothing was mostly European gowns. Judging from the distribution of shops on the streets and the flow of pedestrians, the population here was sparse. She wondered if this was due to the geographical location or the depletion of the water source.
“The people on your planet don’t look very different from us Earthlings,” Feng Qingyu withdrew her gaze and asked Hena, who was sitting opposite her. “I thought there would be people with all sorts of colorful hair on the streets, like in an anime.”
Hena hesitated for a moment upon hearing this and then said, “Actually, hair color is a symbol of our social status.”
“Oh?” Feng Qingyu was quite curious about this.
“Since you will be living on Planet Alpha for a long time, some things about the Star Kingdom should be clarified with you in advance. Since the journey is long, it’s a good opportunity to give you a detailed introduction. Would you like to hear about these matters?”
Feng Qingyu didn’t hesitate at all about gossip: “Of course.”
“This goes back about six hundred years. In the Sigma Galaxy, there were initially five planets with long-term human habitation. These five planets were: the militarily powerful Planet Alpha, the gold and silver resource-rich Planet Upsilon, the highly developed construction industry on Planet Lambda, the highly developed technology on Planet Epsilon, and the highly developed entertainment industry on Planet Delta.”
Hearing the names of these planets, Feng Qingyu, who had an arts background, regretted not having studied science. If she had, she would definitely remember these familiar Greek letters quickly. Now, after listening, she could only remember the main planet, Alpha.
Fortunately, Hena’s next sentence slightly relieved her: “The leaders of the five original planets felt that resources were unbalanced across the planets. To prevent the Sigma Galaxy from falling behind other galaxies, they simply formed a federal nation called the United States of Sigma. But the good times didn’t last. Due to varying degrees of closeness in inter-planet relations, resource allocation began to become unequal. Additionally, the people of Planet Epsilon, who relied excessively on AI, began to show signs of degeneration, and a large-scale war within the galaxy erupted.”
Feng Qingyu leaned slightly forward, listening with great interest, as if listening to a storyteller the history of an alien planet was, after all, very distant to her.
“In this great war, due to the overuse of various energies, the defeated Planets Lambda, Epsilon, and Delta were completely annihilated; the environment of the victorious Planet Upsilon also gradually began to worsen. Ten years after the end of the war, Planet Alpha was the only one in the Sigma Galaxy suitable for human habitation.”
The names “Upsilon” and “Epsilon” gave Feng Qingyu a headache, so when she heard Hena say that only Planet Alpha was left, she was relieved finally, she didn’t have to try to distinguish who was who.
“The survivors on the three dead planets were forced to surrender to Planet Alpha, and the people of Planet Upsilon, who had lost their homes, also immigrated to their former partner, Planet Alpha. The King of Planet Alpha at the time accepted everyone, established the Star Kingdom of Alpha, and strictly divided the social hierarchy based on the origin of each planet.” Hena’s voice carried a sense of unconcealed humiliation at this point. “The black-haired and brown-haired survivors of Planet Delta are the third-class citizens; the dark-green-haired and dark-blue-haired survivors of Planet Lambda are the second-class citizens; the silver-haired and gold-haired survivors of Planet Epsilon are the first-class citizens. The pink-haired and orange-haired people of Planet Upsilon are the nobility, and the red-haired people of Planet Alpha are the royal family.”
This seems similar to racial or national discrimination on Earth? Hair color discrimination? Planet discrimination? Thinking this, Feng Qingyu asked, “Has no one ever resisted over all these years?”
Hena shook her head. “The destruction of our mother planets left the people of our three planets rootless. And the defeat in that war led to a severe loss of vitality, requiring decades of recovery. However, the Planet Upsilon people, as nobles, gradually became dissatisfied with the status of ‘nobility’ and attempted to contest the throne with the Planet Alpha people, which ultimately led to their extermination.”
…It seems the current Empress’s habit of wiping out entire planets is a family trait? No wonder Maggie has that potential too. Feng Qingyu silently complained in her mind.
Seeing Feng Qingyu stay silent, Hena thought she might have scared her, and quickly said, “That was hundreds of years ago. Since Empress Edris ascended the throne, she has become less inclined towards war.”
“Is that so?” Feng Qingyu thought: Don’t lie to me. Your Empress sent people to invade and occupy a planet in the Beta Galaxy just recently!
Hena likely guessed some of the meaning behind her tone and explained, “Even when Her Majesty and Her Highness engage in war now, it is only for the Star Kingdom’s self-preservation! When the demise of a planet is predetermined, if we don’t strike first, then another planet will obtain its resources, and we will be in danger.”
“Then how do you know that the demise of others’ planets is predetermined? Why can’t you find a different solution? Wouldn’t it be better to use your strong military power to protect them and establish harmonious cooperative relations with them? Frankly speaking, your Empress is still a selfish person!”
Feng Qingyu’s words were powerful and resonant, stunning Hena into a long silence.
It wasn’t until they were about to get out of the car that Hena lightly said, “Perhaps, you are right.”
Compared to her last visit to Maggie’s residence, when she was brought in as a hostage, this time Feng Qingyu was openly invited in. Her mood was different, and consequently, the scenery she saw also looked different. Even the dark flowers in the courtyard didn’t seem so depressing.
Maggie’s residence covered a vast area. Even though Feng Qingyu had been there once, she had only seen a small portion of it. This time, after being led by the butler to be introduced to the main areas, Feng Qingyu felt physically exhausted.
“I think, after a long journey, I need rest more than I need to know about this place.”
Perhaps Hena had given instructions in advance, as the butler was almost obliging to Feng Qingyu’s every request. Hearing her say this, he promptly led her to the guest room she had stayed in before.
Seeing the familiar door, Feng Qingyu couldn’t help but recall the room full of pink items, feeling a headache momentarily. “Can I change rooms?”
“Perhaps you can take a look before deciding.” The butler said, pushing the door open.
Inside, all the pink items had been removed and replaced with the beige color scheme used in Feng Qingyu’s bedroom at home. Even some of the items were arranged like those in her own bedroom.
Realizing that she was finally being valued and respected, Feng Qingyu felt half of her fatigue dissipate, and her tone softened considerably. “Please thank Hena for me.”
“I wish you a relaxing time.” The butler nodded to her, backed out, and courteously closed the door behind him.
Feng Qingyu walked to the large wardrobe and forcefully slid the door open. Inside, there were not only over a dozen long gowns but also over a dozen casual outfits of different thicknesses, mostly made in the styles she had previously worn.
There was a vase on the previously empty coffee table by the sofa, holding freshly picked flowers, presumably from the garden. The window was open, and a gentle breeze blew in, carrying the scent of flowers, which was refreshing.
After a quick shower, Feng Qingyu changed into silk pajamas and lay down on the soft, large bed. She instantly had the illusion of entering a wealthy family and becoming a pampered young lady surrounded by endless affection.
Is this how the life of the rich is so comfortable? What if I get used to living here and become spoiled, and then can’t adapt back on Earth? Ease indeed leads to moral degradation; this is not good. I should heed the wisdom of my ancestors, “Prosperity leads to ruin, adversity promotes success”…
After countless internal deliberations, Feng Qingyu’s eyelids grew heavier, and her consciousness became increasingly blurred. Before falling asleep, her last thought was: The elders are right, one must always be wary of sugar-coated bullets!
