The Savior Says She's Having a Breakdown - Chapter 18
Chapter 18: Another Wave (Part 1)
There was no need for an experiment the next day, so the idle Feng Qingyu had no choice but to wander around Maggie’s house.
She didn’t know until she wandered, and when she did, she was startled. Feng Qingyu walked until her back ached and her legs were weak before she realized the enormous size of Maggie’s residence—the main house where Maggie and the several “Na”s and maids lived, the East Courtyard where the Royal Guard and Security Guard resided, the West Courtyard where the Rose Legion resided, the North Courtyard where Mina’s laboratory was located, and two large front and back gardens.
“Corruption, corruption!” Looking at the gardener trimming the flower branches in the garden, Feng Qingyu couldn’t help but sigh. “Extravagance, extravagance!”
Seeing Feng Qingyu approach, the gardener smiled and greeted her. “Good day, Miss.”
“Hello,” Feng Qingyu nodded, looking curiously at the clusters of deep purple flowers. “What kind of flower is this?”
“This flower is called the Dark Night Rose. It is Her Highness’s favorite flower.”
“Rose?” Feng Qingyu picked one and looked at it closely, finding it completely different from the roses on Earth.
The gardener thought she liked it, picked a few more, and handed them to her. “Yes, Her Highness loves the Dark Night Rose the most, which is why the emblem of Her Highness’s private army, the Rose Legion, is also the Dark Night Rose.”
Feng Qingyu took the flowers and nodded, smiling at her. “Thank you for the flowers. I’m going to look around elsewhere, so I won’t disturb your work.”
“Take care, Miss.”
Back in her room, Feng Qingyu carefully arranged the flowers one by one into the vase on the table. However, since she hadn’t learned flower arrangement, the result was no different from just casually sticking them in.
Despite this, Feng Qingyu felt good about it. After arranging the flowers, she admired the vase for a long time before realizing that the flower had a very faint, cool scent, perhaps due to having just been watered.
During lunch, Feng Qingyu sat next to Hena and casually asked, “Your planet’s roses are completely different from Earth’s. Why are they still called roses? Do you have the kind of roses found on Earth here?”
“Actually, ‘Dark Night Rose’ is the result of the language conversion chip’s automatic translation. On Planet Alpha, this flower is called ‘Dark Night Rose,'” Hena explained. “We also have flowers similar to Earth’s roses on Planet Alpha, but those are called ‘Rose.'”
“…But the chip still translated your second mention as ‘Dark Night Rose,’ and translated ‘Rose’ as ‘Rose.'”
Hena suddenly realized something. “Oh, the language conversion chip’s activation can actually be manually controlled.”
“It can be used like that? Does everyone have a controller? Can you give me one?”
Seeing Feng Qingyu’s very expectant gaze, Hena looked at Maggie, then whispered, “There is no controller. The function to control the chip’s switch is built into the communicator. However, the communicator has an extraordinary significance on Planet Alpha. If you want to get one, it might require a bit of… procedure.”
Feng Qingyu followed her gaze to sneak a peek at Maggie, who was sitting at the head of the table, eating properly and not looking their way. She then asked, “Isn’t a communicator just for communication? How extraordinary can it be? Giving one to me won’t violate any rules on your planet, will it?”
“No, it won’t. It’s just that every Alpha Star person can only have one communicator in their lifetime. This communicator is bound to all the person’s information, including the language conversion chip implanted in their body. It’s similar to your ID card on Earth, but it contains much more information,” Hena shook her head. “When you had the chip implanted, you should have been assigned a corresponding communicator.”
Feng Qingyu immediately seized the main point. “So I already have one? Then why didn’t you just give it to me? If it hadn’t come up today, were you planning to keep it from me?”
“No, don’t misunderstand,” Hena explained urgently. “You are staying at Her Highness’s residence and are not a resident of Planet Alpha, so the communicator is essentially irrelevant to you. Plus, everyone has been busy with the matter of awakening your divine power, so the communicator might have been forgotten.”
“Well, in that case, please give me mine after dinner.”
Hena rarely hesitated. “The registration, collection, and activation of a communicator must be approved by the relevant officials of the Star Kingdom. Since you are staying with Her Highness and are an outsider, your communicator should require Her Highness’s approval. My authority is insufficient; I cannot make the decision. Therefore, you need to ask Her Highness.”
As soon as she heard she had to approach Maggie, Feng Qingyu quickly said, “Then I’ll leave this task to you. Since you told me about it, you should be responsible for me.”
Hena was about to say something when Maggie, who had finished eating, walked over. “Is something the matter?”
Feng Qingyu saw Hena looking at her, so she looked up at the two standing people, smiled, and chose to remain silent for the moment to observe the situation.
Seeing this, Hena had no choice but to lower her head and say, “I just mentioned to Miss Feng Qingyu that the language conversion chip is controllable, which naturally led to the topic of the communicator…”
Feng Qingyu realized that Hena had let something slip. Fearing Maggie’s anger would also make her unhappy, she interjected, “I think since we’ve already been open and honest, shouldn’t I be given the communicator that’s bound to the chip inside me?”
“Good. Follow me to the study.” After saying this, Maggie turned and walked toward the door.
Feng Qingyu had prepared a whole set of mixed soft and hard arguments to present to Maggie, but this response completely cut her off.
Feng Qingyu looked at Hena. Seeing the latter’s surprised expression, she could only shrug and follow.
This was Feng Qingyu’s first time entering Maggie’s study. The room was only a quarter the size of the conference hall. Inside, there was a simple desk, a princess chair, and a few floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with physical books.
Maggie walked up to the desk, pressed a few numbers on the drawer’s password lock, pulled open the drawer, searched for a moment, and pulled out an object, handing it over. “Yours.”
Feng Qingyu took it, carefully observed her expression repeatedly, and after confirming that she was still maintaining her poker face, she took it. “Okay, thanks.”
“Next time, speak your mind.”
Feng Qingyu, who was walking toward the door, only heard this sentence. Before she could even ask a question, the door was closed again.
“She was so easy to talk to this time?” After retrieving the communicator from Maggie’s study, Feng Qingyu pulled Hena aside to a corner of the corridor. “Seeing how nervous you were before, I thought it was a huge deal.”
Hena looked thoughtful. “I also thought I had misspoken. It seems Her Highness has genuinely changed quite a bit recently.”
“Then I’ll head back to my room,” Feng Qingyu was about to turn and leave when she suddenly remembered. “Wait, tell me how to control the chip first.”
“First, turn on the communicator, then find this icon, then select this option…”
“Let me test it out,” Feng Qingyu said, turning off the chip. “Say something for me to hear.”
Hena was a little helpless but spoke anyway: “… Hena.”
Feng Qingyu turned the chip back on and asked, “What did you just say? But I think I heard your name.”
“I just said, ‘Hello, I am Hena.'”
“Your language is quite interesting too. By the way, I’ve turned off the chip. Tell me what ‘Dark Night Rose’ is called again.”
Seeing her enthusiasm, Hena good-naturedly indulged her.
“Alright, I’ve turned it off. Say it. Just the name of ‘Dark Night Rose’.”
“maji.”
“Say it again?”
“maji.”
“Then… what about Maggie’s name?”
“…maji.”
Turning the chip back on, Feng Qingyu exclaimed, “Did you just say the name of ‘Dark Night Rose’ and Maggie’s name?”
Hena nodded. “Her Highness Maggie’s name and the name of the ‘Dark Night Rose’ are homophones.”
“No wonder she planted so many Dark Night Roses in her garden.” Feng Qingyu muttered, then added, “Thank you for today. I’m going back to my room to rest. Good afternoon!”
“Good afternoon.”
