The Savior Says She's Having a Breakdown - Chapter 24
Chapter 24: Love Contract (Part 1)
When Feng Qingyu saw Maggie standing at the door of her guest room, holding a bouquet of dark flowers and staring coldly at her, her newly awakened brain was so startled that her hands acted on their own, slamming the door shut with a “bang.”
A moment later, the door was opened again from the inside. Outside was still Maggie, dressed in her dark red legion uniform, black leather belt, neat ponytail, and holding a bouquet of Dark Night Roses.
With a “bang,” the door was slammed shut again from the inside.
Maggie looked at the tightly closed door that had nearly slapped her face, her expression darkening little by little. Hena, in the corner, kept gesturing to her, indicating that she must be patient and tolerant.
Meanwhile, Feng Qingyu leaned against the door panel, frantically rubbing her eyes and pinching her thigh, lamenting internally: There must be something wrong with how I opened my eyes this morning!
When the door was opened for the third time, the person outside was still the upright, uniformed Maggie, though her face seemed a little darker than before.
“Did you… injure your head yesterday?” Feng Qingyu half-held the door panel, poking her head out and tentatively asked.
Not answering her, Maggie extended the bouquet past the door, handing it to her. “For you. Let’s go eat together.”
Feng Qingyu took the bouquet, looking it over left and right, but couldn’t see anything unique about it. Seeing Maggie constantly watching her, she asked, “Why are you suddenly giving me flowers?”
She had clearly anticipated this question and prepared an answer. Maggie replied without hesitation, “They suit you well.”
This non-answer dialogue made Feng Qingyu feel that the person in front of her had not only injured her head but also taken the wrong medicine during subsequent treatment! Mina, that quack doctor, is truly unreliable!
Mina, who was hiding in the corner with Hena and Yuna, couldn’t help but sneeze twice.
Afraid of being discovered, Yuna quickly covered her mouth.
Hena quietly asked, “Are you sick?”
Mina shook her head. “No. I suddenly felt like sneezing, and I couldn’t stop it.”
“Let’s go eat.” Seeing Feng Qingyu standing motionless at the door, holding the flowers, Maggie repeated her intention.
Feng Qingyu thought for a moment and said, “Then let me go inside and put the flowers down first.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the door was once again slammed shut from the inside with a “bang.”
And Maggie’s face completely turned as black as the bottom of a pot.
This was the first time Feng Qingyu had actively made a call after getting her communicator, and it was hung up.
Half-furious and half-scared, she sent a text message. The content was concise yet powerful: What exactly did you do to her?!
Not long after, she received Hena’s reply: We didn’t do anything. Perhaps Her Highness feels that since you are our partner, she should treat you better.
Couldn’t you at least make up a more believable lie! Feng Qingyu thought, her fingers rapidly typing a reply: No need. She just needs to maintain her status from the past few days!
This time, Hena’s reply was quicker: Sorry, we cannot decide Her Highness’s matters.
As if! Feng Qingyu angrily turned off the communicator and plopped down on the sofa, agonizing over whether she should go and open the door again maybe Maggie had gotten angry and left. After all, she had just slammed the door on her three times in a row. Given Maggie’s temper, she should have exploded by now.
Just as she was secretly moving toward the door, a knock suddenly sounded, followed by Maggie’s cool voice: “You should go eat once you’ve put them away.”
…At this moment, Feng Qingyu, realizing that a persistent ghost was much scarier, suddenly began to miss the old Maggie who would turn and leave without a word if things didn’t go her way.
In the dining room, Hena, Mina, and Yuna were already seated. Seeing the two walk in side-by-side, they all smiled brightly and greeted them: “Good morning, Your Highness. Good morning, Miss Feng Qingyu.”
Feeling somewhat uncomfortable under the gaze of the three, Feng Qingyu felt like a little lamb that had wandered into a wolf’s den, radiating the unique scent of prey. This made her instinctively want to poke and carefully check the food brought by the attendant for any strange ingredients.
After a breakfast filled with anxiety, Feng Qingyu managed to catch Hena before she slipped away and questioned her: “What exactly is going on! Tell me! Confess and receive leniency, resist and receive strict punishment!”
“You’re overthinking it. It’s really nothing.” Hena looked completely innocent, as if the matter truly had nothing to do with her. “Isn’t it nice to have one more person caring about you, showing concern, and keeping you company?”
Feng Qingyu was half-skeptical. “It’s nice to have someone care about me and keep me company, but that person is Maggie! It just makes me feel like you’re plotting something bad against me.”
“How could that be! You are currently our Star Kingdom’s only hope for salvation. How could we harm you!” Fearing she wouldn’t believe her, Hena dragged Edris into the conversation. “And we’ve already informed Her Majesty of your existence. If anything were to happen to you, Her Majesty wouldn’t let us off the hook.”
“I’ll believe you for now.” Seeing her certainty, Feng Qingyu pouted.
Seeing Maggie already walking toward them, Hena waved to Feng Qingyu. “Since Miss is fine, I will go to the training grounds now.”
Watching her slip away so quickly, Feng Qingyu felt a cold wind blow across her back. Turning around, Maggie’s stunningly beautiful face was already close by.
This distance was truly too close; she could even feel the warmth of the other person’s breath! Feng Qingyu instinctively took a step back, frowning. “Is something the matter?”
“We’re going to admire the flowers.”
With that indifferent tone that left no room for negotiation, paired with her cold, emotionless face, there would be no sense of incongruity if someone called her a robot.
“No, I’m going back to my room.” Rejecting the person’s inexplicable request, Feng Qingyu turned and walked away.
Maggie followed behind her, neither fast nor slow. “Let’s go admire the flowers.”
“Are you very idle?” Feng Qingyu couldn’t stand her following her like a ghost. She stopped and turned around. “If you’re really that idle, go find if there are any other records about saving your planet. Can you do something serious?!”
Maggie, who didn’t understand why the other person was suddenly throwing a tantrum, was also a little annoyed, but remembering Hena’s instructions, she still explained seriously, “I can put everything aside for you.”
At this point, even if Feng Qingyu were slower, she would have guessed what the person in front of her was trying to do. But she knew the culprit behind this was not the person in front of her, but—
“Hena! How long are you going to keep up the act!”
Hena, who had been called out, asked Yuna to continue training the people below and followed Feng Qingyu to a nearby rest area. “Why are you so angry?”
“Tell me, did you ask Maggie to pursue me, wanting me to fall in love!”
Hena initially wanted to continue playing dumb, but under Feng Qingyu’s pressing gaze, she relented. “I apologize. We just wanted to ensure we had as many chances as possible and didn’t miss any potentiality.”
“But do you know that ‘romantic love’ truly isn’t something you can get by sending a couple of flowers and having a meal together!” Hearing her answer, Feng Qingyu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. These aliens’ understanding of love was too superficial, yet their execution was incredibly strong.
“I apologize. Alpha Star people are born emotionally indifferent. Aside from loyalty, even familial affection is rarely present, and they have never experienced ‘romantic love.’ Therefore, our understanding of love is derived from Earth materials. Due to cultural differences, the information we finally obtained might have errors compared to the real situation. We hope Miss Feng Qingyu can forgive our past actions and explain the true meaning of ‘romantic love’ to us, so that everyone can find a method sooner, complete the cooperation, and send you home early.”
Although her tone was very ordinary, Feng Qingyu suddenly felt that they were actually… quite pitiful? It was a miracle that a race with little familial affection and no romantic love had been able to reproduce and thrive until now.
Startled by her own saintly thought process, Feng Qingyu quickly changed her focus. “Since you truly won’t give up, why don’t you call everyone and we all go to the conference hall to have a good talk? This way, we can avoid having to deal with a new problem every day. Hena finally calmed down today, and tomorrow morning I might have to deal with Mina or Yuna. I can’t handle that.”
Hena, far from being offended by the mockery, was somewhat happy. “Then I will go notify Her Highness.”
People came and went in the conference hall, but the five people sitting there were still the same. However, this time, the person sitting in the main speaker’s seat was Feng Qingyu.
“I know everyone is very concerned about my divine power, and I feel the same way. But I hope everyone can use scientific and efficient methods to solve the problem, instead of just reading a dozen novels and directly using those unrealistic clichés.”
Hena and Maggie, the targets of the insinuation, listened attentively, not blushing at all, forcing Feng Qingyu to wonder whether these people were thick-skinned or just didn’t understand the hidden meaning in her words.
“Since you are all so interested in ‘romantic love’ on Earth now, then let me explain what ‘romantic love’ actually is.” Although she said this, Feng Qingyu, who was single from birth, didn’t actually have a very clear understanding of romantic love. However, it was more than enough to fool these aliens.
