The Savior Says She's Having a Breakdown - Chapter 27
Chapter 27: Seeking the Truth (Part 2)
When Feng Qingyu saw Margie standing at the door of her guest room holding a bouquet of deep blue flowers and looking at her coldly, her newly awakened brain was so startled that it commanded her hands to shut the door with a loud “bang.”
Wait a minute… Where had she seen this scene before?
The door opened again. Margie was first stunned, then perhaps remembering something, she quickly forced out a smile a cold smile, at that before handing the flowers to the person in front of her and saying softly, “Good morning.”
Feng Qingyu looked at the bouquet, unsure whether to accept the flowers or to close the door immediately. Thinking that she couldn’t let today turn into yesterday, Feng Qingyu finally took the flowers after much hesitation.
As the saying goes, don’t hit a smiling face. Although Margie’s smile was a bit unsettling, it successfully changed Feng Qingyu’s on-the-tip-of-her-tongue “Your problem is getting worse again” into “Why… are you here again?”
“To invite you to eat.”
Feng Qingyu turned and went inside to put down the flowers, mumbling, “It seems my suggestion has made no progress.”
Margie stood at the doorway, not clearly hearing what she said, merely staring blankly at her back, lost in thought.
As for why Margie appeared at Feng Qingyu’s door again, and even with an unsettling cold smile, this goes back to early this morning.
Hena, with eyes that looked even more like a national treasure than before, knocked on Margie’s bedroom door—in ten years, this was the first time she had gone directly to the bedroom to find Margie.
Margie, still wearing her black silk pajamas, sat on the sofa, frowned at the weary Hena opposite her, and asked, “What is it?”
“Regarding the new dating plan Your Highness mentioned yesterday, I thought about it all night, and felt it was better to report to you face-to-face.”
“Speak.”
“I carefully considered what Miss Feng Qingyu said yesterday. I think she meant that if love involves a plan, it’s fake. True love is not something that can be planned.”
Margie raised an eyebrow, motioning for her to continue.
“Whether it’s the Earth novels we’ve read or her own accounts, when a person truly loves someone, everything they do comes from the heart. Similarly, to make someone fall in love with you, you must first love them. Sincerity for sincerity.” Having learned a few more terms from novels overnight, Hena continued, “I think as long as Your Highness tells herself from the bottom of her heart that she must give her the best and treat her with the best attitude, I believe that even a stone will be warmed one day.”
Margie was silent for a moment, then nodded to her: “I understand. You go back and rest. Yuna will continue to cover for you today.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
After Hena left, Margie looked at the somewhat dried-up ‘Dark Night’ roses in the vase on the table and repeatedly considered Hena’s words sincerity for sincerity? Give her the best attitude and the best things? This task didn’t seem particularly difficult.
Moreover, as long as it could be completed, Alpha Star would likely continue to exist, and she could inherit the throne and realize her initial ideal. After giving herself a pep talk, Margie got up and walked to the closet, about to pull out her Legion uniform, but suddenly remembered the “must separate personal dating time from work” mentioned in the novels she had read. Her hand deftly slid to the side, taking out a long, light blue cocktail dress that she hadn’t worn in a long time.
Yes, she had also read those novels from Earth.
Margie originally thought these things were a waste of time. When Hena first passed them to her, she had thrown them aside. But yesterday, seeing Mina and Hena quite knowledgeable about Feng Qingyu and Earth culture, even understanding some things better than herself, she felt a strange sensation.
When she returned to her bedroom from the lab, she, surprisingly, opened an Earth novel and became engrossed in it. No wonder Idith and previous Kings strictly prohibited any recreational activities in the Star Kingdom that were unrelated to physical fitness.
Looking at herself in the mirror, who seemed to have gained a little weight, Feng Qingyu was in a good mood. If her suggestion yesterday was effective, then she wouldn’t have to fulfill that strange bet!
Although she didn’t think she would lose after all, the four words “go all out” were very subjective and highly maneuverable—she realized last night when she opened the novel and saw the description of the male protagonist as “handsome, tall, and charming”—Margie was tall, but she was still a woman!
Making her fall in love with Margie, who was also a [woman], was like forcing her to walk barefoot on a mountain of knives across a thousand-meter-high steel wire! Fortunately, she was smart. Feng Qingyu secretly gave herself a thumbs-up in her heart.
Coming out of the bathroom, Feng Qingyu walked to the closet and changed into a short skirt. The weather on Alpha Star was getting warmer and was probably entering summer. Humming a tune, Feng Qingyu walked to the door, about to open it and head to the restaurant for dinner, when the opening scene unfolded.
Walking side-by-side with Margie on the road, Feng Qingyu couldn’t help but ask, “Did my suggestion yesterday lead to any useful discoveries?”
“Mhm.” Margie originally intended to leave it at that, but then remembered the “communicate more with the other person” from the novels she had read, and said, “The animals in the Star Kingdom do not reproduce relying on the Spirit Spring itself, but through the water that flows into various sources after the Spirit Spring permeates the groundwater.”
“It really is like that.” Feng Qingyu was inexplicably proud that she had guessed correctly.
“However, it’s a pity that the Spirit Spring has dried up now, and the energy contained in other water sources is also decaying. It probably won’t be long until even the animals face extinction.”
Feng Qingyu suddenly didn’t know how to respond. Should she say “my condolences”? But she was here to save them. She simply gave an awkward laugh to move past it. Fortunately, they soon arrived at the restaurant, relieving the tension.
“Where is Hena?” Upon entering, she only saw Yuna and Mina sitting there, but not Hena.
Margie walked to her seat and sat down: “She was up all night again. I told her to eat early and go rest.”
To better cultivate feelings, Feng Qingyu’s seat at the dining table, which was originally the furthest from Margie, was now moved by the maid to Margie’s side, in Fiona’s former spot, at Margie’s instruction.
“Please.”
Following the maid to this seat, Feng Qingyu suddenly asked, “By the way, is Fiona still confined?”
Margie originally wanted to say, “Didn’t you not want to see her?” but she stopped herself and instead asked, “Why do you suddenly ask about her?”
“Nothing, I just feel like Hena is too busy these days, dealing with my matters and leading the Imperial and Guard teams.” Seeing Margie staring at her, Feng Qingyu became a little embarrassed and turned her head. “If, and I mean if, Fiona can calm down a bit, then let her come back.”
“Mhm, I see.” After saying this, Margie thought for a moment and added, “Thank you.”
Hearing these two words from Margie for the first time, Feng Qingyu was so startled that her chopsticks dropped onto the table.
Yuna and Mina, who were sitting further away, hadn’t heard the conversation between the two, but hearing the sound of the chopsticks dropping, they instinctively looked over and asked with concern, “What’s wrong?”
Feng Qingyu quickly picked up the chopsticks and smiled at the two of them: “Nothing, just a slip of the hand.”
Perhaps that “thank you” was too unexpected, as unbelievable as a country’s football team suddenly qualifying for the World Cup. Feng Qingyu only ate half of her breakfast, while the others had already finished.
Margie, who usually left the restaurant immediately after finishing her meal, remained in her seat even after Yuna and Mina had left.
Feng Qingyu asked curiously, “You’re not leaving?”
Margie now thought for a long time before saying anything. This simple question was no exception. After settling on the best answer in her mind, she said, “I want to accompany you.”
“Clatter…” The chopsticks dropped onto the table again.
When the person in front of her was unreasonable, violent, and barbaric, she was terrified and wanted to stay miles away from her. Now that the person had suddenly become gentle and could say sweet nothings, she was even more afraid! What kind of logic was this?
Ultimately, it must be because the contrast was too great. It must be!
Thinking this, Feng Qingyu said, “Don’t you… feel that the contrast between you now and before is a bit too big? Other people might not be able to… accept it immediately?”
“I apologize,” Margie’s tone was very sincere. “How do you want me to act? Tell me, and I will try hard to change.”
The more she said this, the more afraid Feng Qingyu became. Just imagine, a person who transitioned from violent threats to cold indifference to gentle consideration in just two months what kind of split personality must that be!
“Just… be like how you were a while ago. We each go our own way. Just smile and greet each other when we meet.”
“I can’t do that.” Although her face was still stern, her tone was no longer as aggressive as before.
But she was still a volatile lunatic! She just said she would change, and the next second she said she couldn’t. That was too perfunctory!
Perhaps realizing her tone was a bit inappropriate, Margie asked again, “Where do you want to go after eating?”
Feng Qingyu was on the verge of tears facing this person who wouldn’t let go once she latched on: “I need to go to Mina’s lab. We are testing ‘friendship’ today.”
Speaking of this, Feng Qingyu had never hoped for her divine power to break its shackles more than now.
“Okay, I’ll accompany you.”
I really don’t need you to accompany me! Go and attend to your own matters! Although she desperately wanted to say this, Feng Qingyu, who had signed the contract, couldn’t voice her thoughts she had initially thought that “go all out” had a lot of operational space and was an advantage for her, but she forgot that “going all out” still required some facade.
