Chapter 30: Withered and Flourishing Spiritual Spring (Part 1)
Feng Qingyu nodded, stating confidently, “Yes.”
Idith was slightly amused: “Is there anything I can help you with? You wouldn’t have asked Margie to invite me if you didn’t need assistance, would you?”
“I heard that your kingdom has always relied on a spring called the ‘Kuro Spring of Life’ for reproduction,” seeing Idith’s smile slightly fade, Feng Qingyu sighed and said, “I know it has dried up now.”
“Yes, it has dried up now,” Idith completely dropped her smile, deliberately emphasizing a few words.
Feng Qingyu understood the unspoken meaning but didn’t care at all: “Don’t worry. I’m not interested in the process or reason for its drying up. I just feel that since its effect is so miraculous, it must contain unique energy. Even though it has dried up, I think there will be residual energy near its source. I only want to study this energy.”
“I’m afraid I cannot agree,” Idith said coldly. “Since you know about the Spirit Spring, you should also know its significance to the Star Kingdom. It’s not a place anyone can approach.”
“But it has dried up.”
“Even if it has dried up, not just anyone can go there,” Idith’s expression gradually showed displeasure. “Didn’t Margie tell you this?”
Feng Qingyu seeing this, said, “Please calm down. I know this. If it weren’t for this, I wouldn’t have come to talk to you in person today. I heard from Mina—Margie’s personal physician—that the physiological structure of Alpha Star people is different from people on other planets. I want to see if this is related to the Spirit Spring’s energy.”
“Even if it is, so what?”
“If the Spirit Spring genuinely caused your body structure to be different from others, then to ensure your existing genes can continue, the humans I create must have the same physiological structure as yours.”
Idith frowned: “What is the connection between the two?”
“The connection lies in the similarities and differences between the Spirit Spring’s energy and the energy I possess. This point will be crucial for the continuation of your star’s existing genes,” Feng Qingyu noticed her hesitation and secretly rejoiced, but maintained a calm and composed expression. “I heard that after you sent people to investigate the reason for the Spirit Spring drying up, you strictly forbade anyone from approaching it. While I don’t know what you found, it is irrelevant to me, so you can be assured. I simply want to complete the agreement with Margie as soon as possible and return to my home planet.”
Hearing this, Idith fell silent.
Feng Qingyu pressed on: “As an alien, I came to your star with one goal: to complete the contract with Margie. I only hope to do what a ‘savior’ should do. I believe this beautiful planet and your people are much more important to you than a dried-up spring source, aren’t they?”
“You may go, but,” Idith said, “only you can go. Moreover, I will accompany you the entire time to supervise. If you don’t mind, we can set a time.”
“Of course, I don’t mind,” Feng Qingyu smiled slightly at her. “If that makes you feel more at ease.”
The two reached an agreement, finally setting the time for three days later, with Idith personally going to Margie’s residence to pick up Feng Qingyu.
Hena was extremely surprised to learn that Feng Qingyu could go and investigate the Spirit Spring: “You actually convinced His Majesty?”
Feng Qingyu nodded: “I told you before you were worrying over nothing.”
“Was His Majesty not angry?”
“Of course not.” Seeing the questioning look in the eyes of the three, Feng Qingyu added, “If you don’t believe me, ask Margie yourselves how harmonious my conversation with your King was.”
Margie nodded in agreement: “Mother was not angry, but she set a few restrictions.”
Seeing the three about to start worrying again, Feng Qingyu quickly said, “Do you know what restrictions are for? Restrictions are for breaking.”
“How do you plan to do that?”
“Do you have any concealed-type energy detection devices?”
The three shook their heads in unison.
“Then do you have any inconspicuous, high-tech products that can record various information there, such as air and soil information?”
The three collectively looked at the communicator on her wrist.
Margie, however, shook her head: “Since Mother will accompany you the entire time, you cannot rely on any instruments.”
Feng Qingyu had cold water poured over her head and looked slightly displeased.
Hena quickly comforted her: “It’s okay. Even if you only observe the surrounding natural environment, it’s already a huge step forward for us. As for the rest, we can slowly figure out a way.”
“No,” Feng Qingyu rejected her comfort. “Since I’m going, I must find useful information! Although I was able to convince your King this time, I truly cannot guarantee if there will be a next time. Therefore, we must maximize this opportunity.”
Margie, struck by Feng Qingyu’s fighting spirit, said, “In that case, let’s plan for these three days.”
“Exactly! Don’t you usually love holding meetings?” Feng Qingyu clapped her hands. “There’s a saying on Earth: ‘Three humble shoemakers can outsmart a master strategist.’ If everyone puts their heads together, we can always find a solution.”
However, optimism does not guarantee a good result.
As the appointed time drew near, the group in the conference room was still drawing blanks.
Feng Qingyu, the most affected, was on the verge of a meltdown: “What good is your advanced technology for? It fails at the critical moment!”
Hena signaled Margie with her eyes. The latter took a moment to grasp the meaning, then turned to Feng Qingyu and said, “Would you like to go for a walk in the garden to clear your mind?”
Feng Qingyu was about to refuse when she heard the three say in unison: “Go on, go on.”
Hena said, “Maybe a change of environment will help you think of something.”
Nodding, Feng Qingyu stood up with Margie and said, “I’ll take your wishes as good luck. I hope I can find a perfect solution when I return.”
The garden had just been watered. As soon as Feng Qingyu entered, she stepped in a patch of mud. The gardener saw this and rushed over to apologize: “I apologize, Miss. I’ve dirtied your shoes. Please sit down nearby and let me clean the mud off your shoes for you.”
“No need, no need,” Feng Qingyu was startled by the gardener’s eagerness, who looked ready to give her a full bath on the spot, and was a little flustered. “It was my fault for being distracted. It’s not your concern. I’ll clean it myself later.”
“This is my handkerchief, please use it—” The gardener quickly pulled out a handkerchief from her pocket and offered it with both hands.
Feng Qingyu didn’t know whether to accept it or not. She noticed the other person seemed fearful. She thought for a moment, took the handkerchief, and said, “Thank you. I’ll wash it clean and return it to you after I use it.”
“No need, no need,” the gardener waved her hand, then suddenly realized the double meaning in her words and quickly said, “I’ll wash it.”
“No, if you insist, I won’t use the handkerchief. I’ll return it to you.” Feng Qingyu tossed the handkerchief forward slightly.
The gardener looked pleadingly at Margie. Only after the latter nodded did she say, “Yes, then I’ll get back to work and won’t disturb Miss and Her Highness as they enjoy the flowers.”
Seeing the gardener walk away, Feng Qingyu murmured, “Do the Third Class citizens have no human rights?”
Although her voice was very low, the two were sitting close together. Margie heard her words and explained, “It’s what their ancestors brought upon themselves.”
“Why should they bear the fault of their ancestors?” Feng Qingyu immediately flared up. “And Hena told me about that melee. Their ancestors were merely defeated, not guilty! If there’s guilt, it’s with your ancestors, who bullied the weak and are despicable!”
“‘Backwardness leads to being beaten’ isn’t that a saying from your Earth?”
“There are many sayings on Earth, but not every one of them is correct!”
Margie was about to say more, but seeing Feng Qingyu’s eyes redden, she held back her words.
Feng Qingyu became angrier the more she thought about it. Even if these people seemed to be changing on the surface, the ideology etched into their bones remained the same you’re weak, you deserve to die. She was so furious that she walked towards the house without even wiping her shoes.
Margie sighed and followed silently behind.
