The Savior Says She's Having a Breakdown - Chapter 7
Chapter 7: Return to Earth (Part 1)
Standing at the doorway of her own home, Feng Qingyu suddenly felt a sense of things having changed, even though she had only been away for less than a semester.
“Who is it?”
As soon as the doorbell stopped ringing, a familiar voice came from inside the security door, almost making her burst into tears right there. She sniffed and choked out, “Mom, it’s me.”
The security door was instantly pulled open, and a familiar, slightly tired face appeared before her. Feng Qingyu could no longer hold back her tears. She rushed into the arms of the person, who was slightly shorter than herself, and cried out, “Mom!”
“Who is it?” Footsteps and a man’s voice asking came from behind the woman, causing Feng Qingyu’s tears to flow even more frantically.
“Dad!”
“Erya!” (Second daughter)
The family cried a river of tears at the doorway. Before the neighbors could come out to see what the commotion was about, Feng Qingyu finally composed herself, comforted her parents, and led the two rather non-mainstream-looking aliens inside.
“Where on earth have you been for the past half a month? You didn’t go to school, didn’t come home, and didn’t even send a single message to your mom and dad! Do you know your father and mother have been frantic looking for you! Even your brother came back from abroad, pulling strings and asking people about your whereabouts, terrified that you were captured… captured by a pyramid scheme. Oh, right, old man, hurry up and call your Big Boy (older son), tell him his sister is back! Tell him not to worry anymore.” Mrs. Feng wiped away her tears, ordered Mr. Feng to make the call, and then began secretly scrutinizing the two people who clearly didn’t look like easygoing folks. She asked with great caution, “Erya, who are these two with you?”
“Mom, please calm down,” seeing Mrs. Feng’s anxious look, Feng Qingyu didn’t bother to ponder the slight pause in her mother’s words just now, and quickly said, “This whole thing is a long story, and it sounds like a fantasy, but, Mom, Dad, everything I’m about to tell you is what I personally experienced, it is real.”
Mrs. Feng’s heart sank. She exchanged a glance with Mr. Feng, who had returned after making the call, and tentatively asked, “Where exactly did you go for this half a month?”
“Mom, the half a month I was missing, I was actually kidnapped by aliens. And these two people sitting next to me are the culprits!”
Yuna endured the complex gazes directed at them by the couple opposite, lowered her head, and said, “We apologize. We are deeply remorseful for kidnapping Ms. Feng Qingyu…”
“Wait a minute, Erya, what is she… saying?”
Feng Qingyu froze, then realized the problem, and turned to ask Maggie, “What you’ve been speaking, hasn’t it been Chinese?”
A flash of embarrassment crossed Maggie’s face.
Yuna noticed and quickly explained, “That was my oversight. The first time you were taken by us, we implanted a universal language translation chip in your brain. People of Planet Alpha are all implanted with this chip from birth, so we can understand your speech. However, your parents do not have this chip implanted, so they are hearing the language of our Planet Alpha. Please translate for them yourself.”
Feng Qingyu no longer had the time to chastise them for tampering with her body; she simply relayed Yuna’s words to her parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Feng were dumbfounded.
Feng Qingyu thought for a moment and decided to introduce the two people to her parents, so she wouldn’t have to keep explaining who was who later. She said, “They say they are humans from Planet Alpha in the Sigma Galaxy. The redhead is their planet’s Third Princess, Maggie; the other one with black hair is her subordinate, named Yuna.”
Mrs. Feng was the first to regain her composure, and realized, “No wonder the police couldn’t find any trace of your disappearance, no matter how hard they searched. The friend your brother pulled strings with even privately told us that this matter was beyond the scope of a normal case and suggested we find a master to consult; it’s also no wonder that after we found a master, the master also said you hadn’t encountered a… cough, a supernatural event, and could only calculate your fortune, not your location.”
At this point, even if Feng Qingyu was slow, she noticed the unnaturalness in Mrs. Feng’s words: “Mom, are you hiding something else from me?”
Mrs. Feng looked nervously at Mr. Feng. Mr. Feng understood and quickly changed the subject, “May I ask Ms. Maggie and Ms. Yuna, why did you cross so many galaxies to come to Earth, and out of seven billion people, why did you specifically kidnap our daughter?”
Yuna, who was addressed, looked at Maggie, who was also addressed. Seeing Maggie nod, she said to Feng Qingyu, “Please explain the whole situation to your parents. We apologize once again to you and your family.”
Knowing that the topic had been shifted, Feng Qingyu still answered Mr. Feng, “Just because they believe I am a descendant of Nüwa, that ridiculous and unreliable reason!”
After Feng Qingyu spoke, a strange silence fell over the room. Maggie sneered, “They are indeed hiding something from you.”
Feng Qingyu resented her meddling, glared at her, and retorted without showing weakness, “I know.”
“Self-deception.”
“I enjoy it!”
“What is she saying?” People are always particularly concerned about things they don’t understand, and even more so when someone speaks an incomprehensible language directly in front of them.
A thought flashed through Feng Qingyu’s mind. She said, “She just said—that you and Dad are hiding something from me.”
She thought Mrs. Feng would try to shift the topic again, but instead, she looked at Mr. Feng, sighed, and said directly, “Since you already know, your father and I won’t hide it from you anymore.”
Wait, the plot development seems wrong? Shouldn’t the normal reaction be to scoff at such a fantastical claim? What’s with this accepting attitude? Could it be—
“Maggie, did you do something to my parents? Did you brainwash them?!”
Maggie ignored her, merely letting out a scornful “Hmph” from her nose.
Feng Qingyu felt her anger rising, but Mrs. Feng interrupted her, saying, “Erya, actually, you are not my and your father’s biological child.”
“Mom, that joke is not funny at all.” Feng Qingyu stared at her parents’ expressions, trying to find a trace of joking on their faces.
However, she failed.
“When you were little, weren’t you always curious why your surname is a homophone but spelled differently from mine and your brother’s? That’s because ‘Feng’ (风) is your birth mother’s surname,” Mr. Feng said. “After you became sensible, you kept pestering your mother to change your name. We always disagreed for no other reason than that your mother and I felt that your name was, after all, left to you by your birth mother, and the decision to change it should wait until you knew your true origin.”
“Dad, why are you joining Mom in joking?”
Mrs. Feng shook her head and said, “Erya, just as you said, it’s true that you were kidnapped by aliens. And what your father and I are telling you now is also true. You, like your mother, are a descendant of Nüwa. Although we don’t know how these two alien… guests found out about this, they are right.”
“I know!” Feng Qingyu slapped her thigh and laughed loudly, “You’re teaming up to play a prank on me, aren’t you! Actually, I wasn’t kidnapped by any aliens this past half-month. The spaceship I saw was just an interior set you arranged! The universe, the galaxy, and the Earth, those were all videos you searched for online beforehand, right? And Mom and Dad, are these two extras you hired from Hengdian? Good acting…”
“Heh.” Maggie couldn’t help but sneer when she heard Feng Qingyu’s successive acts of self-deception.
“Stop acting! It’s not fun anymore if you keep acting!” Feng Qingyu forced an awkward laugh.
Since the person in front of her started arguing, anger had gradually built up in Maggie’s heart. Now, seeing her so stubborn and impervious to reason, she unconsciously clenched her hands on her lap and ground out, “Don’t think you can yell at me just because you’re back on Earth.”
Feng Qingyu noticed her small movement and immediately pointed her index finger at her, saying, “Three-chapter agreement!”
“Heh, don’t you think I’m fake?”
Feng Qingyu was speechless for a moment.
“Calm down for a minute,” Mrs. Feng, seeing the two seemed to be arguing and worried that the alien might do something bad, quickly pulled Feng Qingyu’s hand and said, “Listen to Mom, okay?”
Feng Qingyu knew Mrs. Feng was worried about her, afraid that she might anger the violent alien and get hurt, so she nodded and said, “Mom, you talk, I’m listening.”
Mrs. Feng looked at the aliens sitting on either side of Feng Qingyu and politely asked, “Do the two ladies have a place to stay and rest on Earth?”
Maggie didn’t know why she suddenly asked this, but she still shook her head with a cold face.
“If you don’t mind, why don’t you stay with us for the time being?” Mrs. Feng offered the invitation to the two and then said, “We have some family matters to deal with right now, and the two of you must be tired from ‘escorting’ our Qingyu back all this way, so why don’t you go rest first? We accept your apologies. We’ll have a good chat with the two of you after we’ve finished dealing with our family matters.”
