The Savior Says She's Having a Breakdown - Chapter 9
Chapter 9: Nuwa Clan (Part 1)
“We weren’t sure what your planet’s dietary habits are, so we made dinner according to our family’s usual way. We ask the two ladies to do as the Romans do,” Mrs. Feng said with a formal smile, though her tone carried a hint of subtle challenge. After hearing Feng Qingyu recount the “three-chapter agreement” with Maggie before returning to Earth, she was somewhat reassured.
Unexpectedly, Maggie didn’t mind at all and gracefully took her seat.
Yuna sat down after her and politely said, “Thank you for the hospitality.”
After dinner, Feng Qingyu and Feng Yi cleared the dishes and returned to the living room. They heard Mrs. Feng say, “Qingyu, please act as the translator. We would like to have a talk with these two ladies from the alien planet.”
Feng Qingyu nodded and sat down next to Mrs. Feng, watching Mr. Feng take Feng Yi into the study, presumably to inform Feng Yi of the current situation.
Yuna looked at Maggie. Seeing that she did not object, she nodded and said, “May I ask what you wish to discuss, Madam? If it is about compensation, we can pay you in advance now to show our sincerity.”
“Qingyu has told us about your situation, and we deeply sympathize with the plight of your planet. However,” having finished the courtesies, Mrs. Feng changed the subject, “please forgive us for not being able to agree to Qingyu’s cooperation with your planet.”
“Are you going back on your word?” Maggie narrowed her eyes in displeasure and said coldly, “Even if you renege on the agreement, it won’t stop us from taking her away in the end.”
Feng Qingyu translated her words tactfully.
Mrs. Feng continued, “Please be patient and let me finish before you decide whether you absolutely must take Qingyu away.”
Maggie’s expression was very displeased, but she remained seated, waiting for Mrs. Feng to continue.
“Although I don’t know how you learned of the existence of the Nüwa clan, your understanding of the clan is incomplete. Qingyu is not the only descendant of Nüwa alive today. With your planet’s capabilities, you can definitely find the entire Nüwa clan.”
Maggie strongly disagreed, frowning as she said, “We have already found her. There’s no need to go to great lengths to find others.”
Yuna also said, “You are not losing out on this cooperation. We have calculated that the compensation we are paying, converted to your Earth’s currency, is in the tens of millions annually. That is already very generous.”
“It is true that Qingyu is a descendant of the Nüwa clan, but she does not possess divine power. Her birth mother made so many preparations precisely to allow her to have an ordinary life. If you insist on stimulating the divine power within her, then… her lifespan will only be five to ten years,” Mrs. Feng said seriously. “Therefore, this is not a question of whether the compensation is generous enough, nor is it a question of her being too far from home.”
Maggie’s expression became somewhat complex. She wanted to speak several times but ended up saying nothing.
Mrs. Feng noticed her hesitation and pressed on, “As a mother, it is absolutely impossible for me to agree to exchange my daughter’s life for the future of an alien planet that has nothing to do with me. And we are not being indifferent; we have told you all the information we know. There are many Nüwa descendants in the Nüwa clan who have already awakened their divine power. I believe they can provide you with much more help than Qingyu can.”
Yuna heard this and kept casting questioning glances toward Maggie.
“As a mother whose daughter was once kidnapped by you, I feel I have done my utmost. Although you come from a technologically more advanced planet, we Earthlings are not playthings you can manipulate at will!”
Perhaps because Mrs. Feng’s tone in the last sentence was too forceful, Yuna finally received instructions from Maggie and sincerely said, “We understand your feelings, but we need to discuss this further before making a decision. We will have to impose on your hospitality for a few more days.”
After Feng Qingyu translated this, Mrs. Feng nodded and said, “You are welcome to stay. However, as fellow intelligent beings, I hope we can practice the most basic human mutual respect, rather than resorting to brute force to prove yourselves, like un-evolved animals. I hope you can understand a mother’s feelings?”
Maggie and Yuna, though insulted, could not refute her. They could only return to the guest room with sullen faces.
Not long after they returned to the guest room, the study door opened, and Feng Yi walked out with Mr. Feng. Both men looked somewhat serious.
Seeing everyone burdened with worry because of her, Feng Qingyu felt a little guilty. She pretended to be relaxed and said, “Dad, Brother, don’t worry. If you don’t trust me, don’t you trust Mom’s negotiating skills? Don’t worry, they will go back to discuss it and will definitely agree to look for others, especially since I’m no help to them at all.”
“Actually, I just received a call,” Feng Yi affectionately rubbed the top of Feng Qingyu’s head and said to Mrs. Feng, “The person said he was the one who gave Aunt Feng Lan the talisman back then.”
“What?!” Mrs. Feng was somewhat agitated. “What did he say?”
“He said he faintly sensed that the talisman had failed and asked if anything had happened to Qingyu recently. I told him what happened. The Master said it might be because the alien magnetic field is different from Earth’s, which disrupted the talisman’s own field, causing it to fail prematurely.”
“Then did you ask him what to do since the talisman failed? Can we ask him for another one? Your sister absolutely cannot go back to that place!”
Feng Yi nodded and said, “Mom, don’t worry. Although the Master said the talisman only works once, didn’t Aunt Feng Lan say that the Nüwa clan won’t pursue people without divine power?”
“But…” Although that was true, Mrs. Feng still couldn’t help worrying.
“It’s fine, Mom. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. At worst,” Feng Qingyu tilted her chin towards the guest room, “we’ll just push them out and let them sort it out among themselves.”
The saying “Where there’s a will, there’s a way” was true, but Feng Qingyu never imagined that the “way” would arrive so quickly. In the blink of an eye, she was at the “mountain.”
She had only gone downstairs to throw out the garbage and was “again” kidnapped—the only difference was that she was conscious this time.
The group who came to abduct her consisted of three men and one woman. The woman leading them wore a purple robe and a silver hair ornament—looking as if she had stepped out of a TV drama—and directed the three men to cover Feng Qingyu’s mouth with a cloth and lift her into a car.
Her head hit the car seat back with a “thud.” Feng Qingyu only felt stars spinning before her eyes, and then she was unconscious again.
When Feng Qingyu woke up, she was lying down, rubbing her throbbing forehead. She thought to herself that she was truly having a run of bad luck: first the aliens kidnapped her, then the aliens, and after the aliens, some unknown people kidnapped her—although she had a pretty good guess about the identity of the newcomers, she just didn’t know why they had come, and so quickly.
Seeing that Feng Qingyu was awake, the woman who had led the kidnapping, now wearing a rose-red dress, walked over and looked down at her, saying, “Since you’re awake, stop lying down. As a young woman, where are your manners?”
Frowning, Feng Qingyu sat up. She pretended to know nothing and asked, “Where am I?”
“Your true home.”
She’s that shameless?
Feng Qingyu was stunned by the woman’s audacity. However, on second thought, how many people who commit kidnapping aren’t shameless? First Maggie, then them. Good people have a thousand virtues, but bad people are always bad in the same way.
“You have suffered these years wandering outside.”
There’s always someone more shameless.
Hearing the words of another woman in red who had just entered from outside the door, Feng Qingyu felt that her earlier definition was utterly foolish. In this world, just when you think the level of shamelessness has hit rock bottom, someone will jump out and tell you: Haha, it can get even more shameless.
The woman in the rose-red dress was a little annoyed when Feng Qingyu didn’t react. “It was indeed a mistake for that traitor to take you away! Look at how the outside world has corrupted you!”
Feng Qingyu didn’t reply, thinking: It’s still better than being enslaved without even knowing it.
The woman in red waved her hand and said, “Never mind, Ah Yun, it’s all in the past.”
Ah Yun was slightly dissatisfied but complied, respectfully retreating to the side, indicating that the woman in red held a very high status—Feng Qingyu thought: Perhaps this person is the one revered as the High Priestess?
“Fortunately, you’ve returned now. Welcome, my child.”
“Wait a minute—” Feng Qingyu pushed away the arm that was reaching to embrace her. “If the information I have is correct, anyone who could be my elder should no longer be alive!”
