The Scumbag Alpha and the Movie Queen Omega's Arranged Marriage - Chapter 3
Jiang Ling finally got her composure back. From Lu Xueyin’s hoarse, weak voice, she could hear a hint of coldness and suppressed anger.
So, this newlywed couple didn’t go to the hospital because they were both innocent and the first marking was accidentally too forceful.
Was there something else going on?
The person Lu Xueyin would contact in this state must be someone very reliable.
She confirmed the address and room number with Lu Xueyin, and asked if their trip to the hospital was discreet, if there were any paparazzi, or if fans could have snuck in.
Lu Xueyin wasn’t sure.
When she left that house, her mind was in a complete daze.
It was only in the car that the suppressant brought her back to some semblance of sanity, and by then, she was already wearing the mask.
“It should be fine. Sheng Lan seems quite calm.”
The conversation ended there.
Sheng Lan stood at the foot of the bed, very close to Lu Xueyin.
She kept her eyes on Lu Xueyin’s back, and also looked at her pale, haggard face reflected in the glass.
This distance would make Lu Xueyin feel insecure, but Sheng Lan only came closer because she looked like she was about to collapse.
Her gaze met Lu Xueyin’s in the glass, and she gave a faint smile.
“Can you come over for your injection now? Dr. Meng is about to get off work.”
Dr. Meng didn’t need to be there for the injection. The standoff had lasted too long, and both Lu Xueyin and Sheng Lan were very famous, so she just told the nurse to leave first.
Lu Xueyin nodded slightly. After hanging up, she slowly shuffled her feet towards the bed.
She looked like she was about to faint at any moment.
Her entire body radiated fragility.
As she got closer, Sheng Lan could see the blue veins under her skin.
She was like a meticulously crafted porcelain doll.
Beautiful, fragile, and filling a person with the urge to protect her.
For some reason, perhaps because she had reconnected with the outside world and talked to a person she trusted, Lu Xueyin gained a sense of security.
Or maybe it was the unease from her extreme weakness that made her put on a strong, put-on facade.
She didn’t walk along the wall to the head of the bed and then turn.
Instead, she first walked towards the foot of the bed, passed by Sheng Lan, and then sat down on the bed.
The cuff of her hospital gown brushed against the back of Sheng Lan’s hand.
An IV had just been in there, but Sheng Lan had already torn off and thrown away the bandage.
The needle hole was healed and scabbed over, leaving a tiny dot of bl00d.
It started to feel itchy.
Sheng Lan subconsciously scratched it lightly, easily breaking the skin and leaving a faint bloodstain on her fingertip.
The air was filled with the agitated heat of a May rose.
Sheng Lan thought the mark even looked like a rose petal.
She turned to look.
Lu Xueyin was already sitting on the bed, facing Sheng Lan.
Her lips were drier.
Perhaps it was the female lead’s good luck, but they didn’t have any chapped skin.
Sheng Lan’s throat was also dry.
She was a very practical person.
When she was thirsty, she drank water. She also poured a glass for Lu Xueyin.
Lu Xueyin didn’t take the glass from her. She asked Meng Chan for water instead. “Excuse me, Dr. Meng.”
Meng Chan refused to get involved in the drama and placed the glass Sheng Lan had poured onto the small table on the bed.
Sheng Lan almost laughed.
Lu Xueyin stared at her with a look that could kill, and Sheng Lan made a gesture of surrender.
“You eat first. I’ll go have a chat with Dr. Meng.”
She wanted to ask about Lu Xueyin’s physical condition in detail.
Lu Xueyin wanted them to talk right there. “I have the right to know about my condition.”
Since that was the case, Sheng Lan asked Yu Cheng to step out.
Yu Cheng gave her a look of “burning the bridge after crossing it,” and then left with her takeout.
As soon as the door closed, Sheng Lan automatically pulled a chair to the bedside and went straight to the topic, asking Meng Chan, “Is there a high chance she’ll develop pheromone disorder?”
Lu Xueyin had good manners and ate gracefully. Her hair was loosely tied back with a hair tie, and a few strands fell across her forehead, which she casually tucked behind her ear.
She didn’t look at them, nor did she show any signs of concern or surprise.
Only the knuckles of the hand holding the spoon turned white from the force.
Seeing that her emotions were stable, Meng Chan said, “We’ll have to wait for the results of the check-up tomorrow morning. Her pheromones aren’t stable right now.”
The check-up in the morning was to test for pheromone disorder.
Sheng Lan also asked about the other things she had seen in the original book, which were the sequelae of the disorder.
Drowsiness, sensitivity, and irritability were common.
There were also a few cases of fever, diarrhea, and some people even needed to be marked to get relief.
Lu Xueyin couldn’t pretend to be calm anymore.
Sheng Lan’s direct questions sounded like she was concerned about her health, and she claimed that this was information she had looked up.
To Lu Xueyin, however, it sounded more like Sheng Lan wanted her to have these symptoms, which was why she had orchestrated this whole thing on their wedding night.
She scoffed and put down her spoon.
A person’s body doesn’t always sync with their thoughts.
She didn’t want to eat the food Sheng Lan had given her, but her stomach let out a soft “grumble” that echoed in the quiet room.
Lu Xueyin’s expression was blank, but the blush of shame and anger on her face betrayed her emotions.
This wave of agitation had consumed most of her physical strength. She leaned against the pillow, and her bones were sending out signals of weakness.
Her lips were slightly parted, and she was breathing heavily.
Sheng Lan got up and sat on the edge of the bed to feed her the porridge.
In a state of extreme vulnerability, many acts of resistance are pointless and only work against yourself.
Lu Xueyin obediently ate.
The topic could no longer continue. Meng Chan gave a direct answer: “All of the above complications are possible. These few bottles of medicine must be finished tonight. They are meant to suppress the inducing agent. After the check-up, we will prescribe more medicine. Even if she’s fine, she’ll still need to take medicine to dilute the inducing agent and flush it out completely.”
She sent a text message to someone, and a nurse came over with a printed liability waiver.
“You can be discharged, but you must sign this before you leave. I will not be responsible for any issues that arise.”
So, when Jiang Ling arrived, she couldn’t take Lu Xueyin with her.
She told Sheng Lan to leave. “No need to be so hypocritical after the fact.”
She had thought Sheng Lan was a good person, a bright young woman, but her actions were so vile.
Sheng Lan felt bitter and wronged.
She looked at her phone. For now, only the “toxic room” evidence and getting Lu Xueyin’s phone back had been successful.
The arrest was still in progress.
The person hadn’t been caught yet, and Lu Xueyin was furious.
If she tried to explain, Lu Xueyin would say she was trying to find a scapegoat.
Little did she know, Sheng Lan was the biggest scapegoat of all.
She looked at Lu Xueyin. “You should rest. We’ll talk in the morning.”
Talk about a divorce.
The curve of Lu Xueyin’s lips was cold. “Sounds good.”
Tsk.
Someone’s got some confidence now.
How cute.
Sheng Lan’s room was right next door, and Yu Cheng was inside.
She was very considerate. She had already showered and changed into a hospital gown to join in, and was taking various artistic photos.
When she saw Sheng Lan come in, she made a sound of “country bumpkin in the city.” “This is my first time in the hospital!”
She emphasized, “And it’s not because I’m sick!”
So trendy.
Yu Cheng posted a nine-photo collage on her social media and demanded that Sheng Lan like, comment, and repost it.
“Consider it my payment for bringing your phone tonight.”
Sheng Lan took her clothes to get ready for the bathroom. “Do I really need to repost it?”
Yu Cheng: “Then you have to write a comment with at least thirty characters.”
Sheng Lan agreed.
After entering the bathroom, she first liked Yu Cheng’s post.
For the comment, she just copied and pasted “Hope you’re okay” six times.
With her taking the lead, the comments under Yu Cheng’s post were unbearable to read.
Yu Cheng yelled Sheng Lan’s name from outside the bathroom.
“Are you sick or something?!”
It was a hospital room, and the soundproofing was limited.
Lu Xueyin had just closed her eyes to rest when she was jolted awake by the loud roar, and her heart rate suddenly quickened by two beats.
Jiang Ling was especially angry. “What a time to be fooling around!”
She doesn’t care about Xueyin at all!
Lu Xueyin reached out and pressed the call button.
A nurse came over and asked what was wrong. Lu Xueyin complained that the room next door was too noisy.
The bathroom was near the door, and a top-tier Alpha’s five senses are excellent.
Even through the sound of the water and the door, Sheng Lan heard the nurse scolding Yu Cheng.
It was a complaint from the little rose next door.
Sheng Lan suddenly let out a laugh.
When she came out, Yu Cheng was curled up in the blanket, looking like she was asleep.
The single room had an extra bed, making it a double. Sheng Lan sat on the other empty bed and took out her vibrating phone.
It was a message from Yu Cheng.
[Yu Cheng]: Was your wife jealous just now?
[Yu Cheng]: I’ve been thinking about it for a long time. Only jealousy can explain it.
Otherwise, why would she complain?!
[Yu Cheng]: Right, on her wedding night, her wife is in my room. It’s only right for her to be angry.
Sheng Lan dried her hair and explained for Lu Xueyin, “No, she just thinks you’re noisy.”
She spoke out loud, but Yu Cheng insisted on texting.
[Yu Cheng]: You just don’t understand Omegas. Many Omegas are clean freaks and don’t like their Alpha to have marked others. You’re even sleeping in the same room as me. It’s her possessiveness acting up.
Sheng Lan shook her head.
What a bold idea.
Yu Cheng sat up.
She grabbed all her personal belongings and was going to change rooms, looking speechless. “I didn’t expect two Alphas to have to keep their distance from each other, and you didn’t either? Seeing me in here, you just have no sense.”
Sheng Lan thought it was unnecessary.
They were getting a divorce tomorrow anyway.
And wasn’t Jiang Ling in Lu Xueyin’s room?
Surely this wouldn’t be added to her list of “crimes” and increase her cannon fodder score.
Whether it did or not, Yu Cheng was gone.
Sheng Lan had no energy to think about anything else. She set her alarm before bed, hoping to be able to accompany Lu Xueyin for her check-up in the morning, and then closed her eyes to sleep.
If all went well, she could discuss the divorce right after the check-up.
Goodbye, little rose.
