The Scumbag Alpha and the Movie Queen Omega's Arranged Marriage - Chapter 4
At 6:30 in the morning, Sheng Lan entered the hospital room with a nurse.
Lu Xueyin was woken up.
She was in poor spirits. Since Jiang Ling was in the room, she was able to turn over, lie on her stomach, and let the nurse put a sampling patch on her scent gland.
The rest that had only begun in the latter half of the night had not allowed Lu Xueyin to recover.
Her skin was excessively pale, a stark contrast to the pure black of the sampling patch.
A few strands of hair lazily lay on her shoulder, revealing a faint reddish mark.
It was an indentation left by the strap of her nightgown.
Her skin is that thin?
Sheng Lan muttered inwardly and asked Jiang Ling if she wanted to rest. “I’ll watch her.”
Jiang Ling did not want to rest and even wanted to drive Sheng Lan away.
That was no fun.
Sheng Lan leaned against the sofa and dozed off, not bothering to argue with her.
After a half-hour sample collection, the patch was thrown into a test tube. After seeing the color’s intensity and confirming her pheromones had returned to a normal concentration, someone came to draw bl00d from Lu Xueyin.
When her sleeve was rolled up, she immediately woke up, her eyes still filled with fear and vigilance.
That look made Sheng Lan’s heart ache.
This time, she consciously moved to a corner where Lu Xueyin couldn’t see her.
After the bl00d was drawn, Lu Xueyin was in a bad state and didn’t go back to sleep.
When she was helped to wash up by Jiang Ling, the takeout Sheng Lan had ordered also arrived.
She had been fed the previous night, so she didn’t put on any airs. After drinking a cup of warm water, Lu Xueyin leaned against the headboard, holding the small bowl and slowly eating with a spoon.
While eating the meal Sheng Lan had bought, Jiang Ling still spoke to her with thinly veiled sarcasm. “You ruin someone to the point of death and then act like their savior. I’ve truly learned a lesson.”
Sheng Lan looked up. With the light pink colored contact lenses she wore to match her hair removed, her eyes lost some of their youthful playfulness and gained the coldness and dominance unique to a top-tier Alpha.
As soon as she spoke, she revealed her true nature.
“Beggars can’t be choosers. Can’t you say something nice?”
Jiang Ling snorted. “If you want to hear nice things, do something decent first.”
Sheng Lan shrugged.
She wasn’t going to argue with her.
Throughout the entire breakfast, Lu Xueyin was exceptionally quiet.
This quietness made Sheng Lan feel stifled. She called out to Lu Xueyin, “What are you thinking about?”
Lu Xueyin’s mind, which had been wandering, was pulled back by her voice.
Their eyes met.
Sheng Lan found the red veins in Lu Xueyin’s eyes to be an eyesore.
She also thought Lu Xueyin’s eyelashes were beautiful. They were thick but not overly curled, and their straightness gave her a cold and distant demeanor.
Sheng Lan’s fingertips felt itchy, and she fiddled with the tassel on a cushion.
Lu Xueyin told Jiang Ling to leave first. “I have something to say to Sheng Lan.”
Jiang Ling was not at all comfortable leaving the two of them alone.
She was now guarding against Sheng Lan like a thief.
Lu Xueyin sneered softly. “Don’t worry. She’s a fake Alpha; she can’t mark.”
Sheng Lan’s fingertips paused.
She remembered the scene from yesterday when she had said that and blinked.
So, when Lu Xueyin asked her for a marking, she was conscious?
Lu Xueyin wasn’t feeling guilty at all. She looked straight at Sheng Lan and asked if it was true.
Sheng Lan nodded without any pressure. “Yes.”
She even repeated, “I’m a fake Alpha, I can’t mark.”
Whatever Lu Xueyin said she was, that’s what she was.
Anyway, Lu Xueyin wasn’t a mind reader.
She could do whatever she wanted in the future.
Jiang Ling’s expression went from shock to doubt, then to sympathy, and finally to a sudden realization.
No wonder Sheng Lan had never had any scandals. It turned out she was impotent.
Since Sheng Lan was impotent, she left the room feeling completely at ease.
The two newlyweds were alone in the hospital room, their gazes meeting once again.
Lu Xueyin asked her if she wanted a divorce. Before Sheng Lan could even speak, her tone became more mocking, adding emphasis, “You did all this to me just for a divorce?”
What a thing to be accused of.
Sheng Lan, of course, couldn’t accept this.
Today, Lu Xueyin wasn’t as tense as she was yesterday. Her intelligence had returned, and she could have a proper conversation.
“I didn’t ask you to go there. I’ve never lived in that house since I bought it, and I’ve already reported it to the police. They might ask you to give a statement today.”
Lu Xueyin was thrown off by her words.
Thanks to her movie queen-level acting skills, her eyes only flickered for a moment before she could talk to her normally again.
“It was your friend who asked me to go there.”
Sheng Lan nodded. “Yes, but not me personally.”
Lu Xueyin showed her the call log.
In front of her, Sheng Lan dialed the number that had “Sheng Lan” as the contact name. It was turned off.
Sheng Lan used her own phone to call Lu Xueyin. Her phone number had a contact name that looked very much like a “telemarketing scam” number.
Lu Xueyin took back her phone, not saying whether she believed her or not, and told Sheng Lan that a divorce was impossible.
Sheng Lan leaned back against the chair, looking at her.
Their seating positions were at different heights. Lu Xueyin was propped up against the headboard, creating a distance between them. Her posture was haughty, but her haggard face diminished the sharpness, and her voice was still hoarse, preventing the conversation from becoming too heated.
Her reason was also very simple.
It was a marriage arranged by her family. If she could have refused, there would have been no need for them to register their marriage in the first place.
Sheng Lan was forced into it with the threat of being forced out of the industry, but Lu Xueyin was different.
Her mother had cancer, and this was considered her dying wish.
Not only could they not divorce now, but what happened last night had to be kept a secret.
If necessary, they even had to act like they were a loving couple and show that they had a great relationship.
Sheng Lan looked up at the sky, speechless.
I knew it. That’s why Lu Xueyin hadn’t brought up a divorce yesterday.
She really wanted to speak to her in the tone of a salesperson and shout, “There is a chance for you to permanently get rid of the ‘scumbag Alpha’ right now! Don’t miss out!”
So she tried to negotiate with Lu Xueyin. “How about we secretly get a divorce?”
Lu Xueyin’s response was a flawless, professional smile.
Sheng Lan lowered her eyes and recalled the original book.
In the book, Lu Xueyin endured the scumbag Alpha’s long-term violent treatment and was hospitalized many times, but she never brought up divorce during that time.
It was only when the scumbag Alpha dug out her scent gland that she finally exploded.
A single forced marking wasn’t as severe as having her scent gland dug out. But a year of domestic violence, emotional abuse, and a career slump were not something a normal person could endure.
Moreover, Lu Xueyin was an adult. The moment she agreed to go to the suburban villa, she should have guessed what she might encounter.
She didn’t even resist.
Sheng Lan thought about Lu Xueyin’s attitude towards her yesterday: she didn’t want a multiple marking, but she was okay with Sheng Lan marking her.
Sheng Lan felt speechless for a moment.
She looked up at Lu Xueyin and felt a sense of suffocation.
Having received the plot of the original book, she still didn’t feel like she was the “scumbag Alpha,” because her personality was too different from her.
But if she didn’t want to be cannon fodder, she had to get rid of the cannon fodder label.
The fastest way to remove the label was to distance herself from the original plot.
The best way to distance herself from the plot was to get a divorce.
But seeing Lu Xueyin’s pale face and the forced confidence she used to talk to her, Sheng Lan thought about the tragic things that would happen to her in the future. She felt a moment of pity and couldn’t bring herself to insist on the divorce.
As they were at a stalemate, Meng Chan came in for her shift.
She brought the test results with her, and Jiang Ling also came in.
Meng Chan was a very direct, straight-to-the-point kind of person.
Seeing that both Sheng Lan and Lu Xueyin nodded, she said directly, “She hasn’t developed pheromone disorder.”
Just as everyone was about to look relieved, Meng Chan’s words took a sharp turn. “But—”
“She needs to take medicine to expel the inducing agent and also be careful with using suppressants. She also needs to get injections for another three days, and then come back for a follow-up in a week to check the residual inducing agent and reduce the dosage.”
It was also possible for her condition to relapse if she didn’t follow the doctor’s orders.
Not having pheromone disorder was the best news. All these other things were manageable.
Lu Xueyin once again requested to be discharged. Meng Chan still gave her the liability waiver. She could leave once she signed it.
Since she was a married person, Sheng Lan also had to sign it.
Sheng Lan didn’t want to sign. “Just stay for another day. You look like you’re about to faint at any moment.”
Lu Xueyin was very against staying in the hospital. “Just sign it. I can’t sleep here anyway.”
Sheng Lan took the pen and was about to turn.
Other thoughts started to stir in her mind.
Being a married person is so troublesome. You even need your partner to sign for you to be discharged.
If she used this to reason with Lu Xueyin, would she become more eager for a divorce?
This was a scumbag-like thought.
Threatening a person when they are weak and sick.
Sheng Lan.
You’re finished.
Your mind has been corrupted by the “scumbag Alpha.”
She quickly signed the paper.
She was going to do her duty under the name of being Lu Xueyin’s wife.
Sheng Lan took care of the discharge process and arranged a car. She also said someone would handle the public relations, so there wouldn’t be any negative trending topics in the next two days.
She was also very conscious of her actions. After putting the person in the car, she didn’t follow them.
After putting the new medicine box in the car, she and Jiang Ling exchanged contact information and made sure Lu Xueyin saved her phone number.
Finally, she reminded her, “Someone will be coming to get a statement from you.”
Then she closed the car door.
Once the car left the hospital area, without the combined effect of the blockers and odor neutralizers, Lu Xueyin’s May rose pheromones started to bore into Sheng Lan’s heart again.
As the car door closed, those pheromones seemed to sense something and burst out, mixing with the breeze created by the door’s momentum and rushing towards Sheng Lan.
The scent was rich and pure, a warm fragrance that could make a person drop their guard to a minimum.
Sheng Lan took a portable suppressant out of her pocket and, without hesitation, closed her eyes and sprayed it on her face.
Just a little pheromone.
Just a little rose.
She wasn’t scared.
It wasn’t until she got into her own car and drove for a while that she realized she had forgotten something.
Sheng Lan tilted her head and thought about it. Since she couldn’t remember what it was, it must not be important. She might as well go home and catch up on some sleep.
In the hospital.
Meng Chan knocked on Yu Cheng’s door.
“Room check.”
