The Scumbag Alpha Movie Queen Pampers Her Wife - Chapter 23
Crystals refracted dazzling light under the airport’s lamps as travelers hurried past. Inside the shop, Gu Muchu stood tall and slender, her hands tucked into her pockets.
“Index finger,” she answered almost instinctively.
The saleswoman smiled and began introducing various styles to help her choose. Muchu, however, was clearly distracted, offering only perfunctory responses throughout the process.
Leaving the crystal shop, she clutched the small box in her coat pocket, her palm easily enveloping it. Only when the sharp corners began to dig into her skin did Muchu snap back to reality, dismissing the entire episode as mere paranoia.
It’s just a ring. What could it possibly mean?
In the business class lounge, she lay listlessly on a sofa. As if to prove something to herself, she deliberately tapped on Ji Yuwei’s chat window.
First Light of Dusk: What are you up to?
Muchu habitually made small talk, naturally treating Ji Yuwei like a younger sister to be cared for, like a hen always sheltering her chicks under her wings.
A long pause followed before Ji Yuwei replied.
Little Lioness: Packing my things. We’re having a gathering with the crew tonight.
The message unexpectedly reminded Gu Muchu of Guo Hao, but since he was still in S City and couldn’t possibly arrive anytime soon, she couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
First Light of Dusk: Okay. [Penguin nodding]
With no further response from Ji Yuwei, Gu Muchu prepared to board her flight. After a series of transfers, she finally returned to her apartment complex around ten at night.
Clutching her access card, Gu Muchu watched the numbers on the elevator panel flicker, her heart racing with each floor.
It had been too long since she’d seen Ji Yuwei, and a wave of longing washed over her, like a flickering candle flame sheltered in the palm of her hand, warming her chest.
The elevator doors slid open, revealing a pitch-black corridor. The motion-sensor lights flickered on, and the plush red carpet muffled her footsteps as she approached her apartment door. After entering the passcode, the lock clicked open.
She pulled the door open and stepped inside. The living room was dark, save for the distant glow of neon lights that faintly illuminated the outlines of the furniture. Gu Muchu reached for the light switch beside the door and pressed it, banishing the oppressive darkness like a receding tide.
“Yuwei?” she called out, slipping off her shoes and walking toward the master bedroom. The door was wide open, and several articles of clothing lay scattered on the bed.
Is she not home?
Gu Muchu knew Ji Yuwei had gone to the studio to have dinner with the crew. She glanced at her phone, thinking Ji Yuwei should have been back by now.
She opened their chat, only to find Ji Yuwei’s last message was five hours ago.
It’s been that long?
First Light of Dusk:Â When will you be back?
No reply.
A sense of unease crept into Gu Muchu’s heart. She had planned to surprise Ji Yuwei with a sudden appearance, but now Ji Yuwei wasn’t even there.
As disappointment festered, a hidden resentment followed. But she suppressed it, convincing herself Ji Yuwei was just having dinner and nothing could have gone wrong.
A notification popped up—a video from Lan Jing. She clicked on it and saw it was about Guo Hao.
But with Ji Yuwei still missing, Gu Muchu found no satisfaction in it. To distract herself, she dragged her lightweight suitcase over, finished packing, rolled up her sleeves, and headed to the kitchen to make dinner.
Remembering Ji Yuwei’s earlier mention of clear broth noodles, she pulled out a small handful from the drawer. When the water in the pot came to a boil, she carefully dropped them in.
Even after clearing the table, Gu Muchu still hadn’t heard from Ji Yuwei. Unable to sit still any longer, she sent a flurry of messages:
Where are you?
I’m in N City right now, and there’s no one here.
The dinner must be over by now. Should I come pick you up?
Sending so many messages might seem pushy, but Gu Muchu had run out of patience. She wasn’t easily flustered, but it was nearly eleven o’clock, and Ji Yuwei still hadn’t returned.
Her messages vanished into the void.
She conjured up countless reasons to reassure herself: the environment was too noisy for Ji Yuwei to hear her phone, her phone wasn’t nearby, or it had run out of battery.
The unease that had been simmering in her heart these past few days now surged to the surface. Gu Muchu rubbed her face, trying to clear her head.
She dialed Ji Yuwei’s number directly.
We’re sorry, the number you have dialed is currently switched off…
The words struck her like a hammer blow. Gu Muchu’s mind went blank as she jerked her head up to stare at the living room clock. In the silent room, the clock ticked steadily, its hands pointing to ten fifty.
She threw caution to the wind, dialing relentlessly, her fingers trembling slightly with each attempt. The same automated response echoed back each time:
“We’re sorry, the number you’ve dialed is currently switched off…”
“We’re sorry, the number you’ve dialed is currently switched off…”
All sixteen calls went unanswered. Gu Muchu collapsed onto the sofa, struggling to regulate her ragged breathing. The suffocating anxiety only fueled her growing frustration.
It wasn’t just annoyance at Ji Yuwei’s lack of response; as she scrolled through her contacts, she realized their connection over the past few days had been limited to WeChat and phone calls.
She was certain something had happened to Ji Yuwei.
Just then, her phone buzzed on the coffee table, drawing Gu Muchu’s attention. Seeing the familiar contact name, she answered immediately.
Muchu nearly laughed in exasperation at Ji Yuwei. The pent-up anger she’d been ready to unleash vanished instantly.
In the end, she couldn’t bring herself to scold Ji Yu for not replying sooner, for making her worry needlessly. The weight that had been pressing down on her heart finally lifted.
Ji Yuwei first noticed something was amiss when she kept spotting a suspicious figure lurking in the shadows near Wheat Grain Studio every time she left.
Though it was still early autumn, the person was bundled up tightly, revealing only a pair of bloodshot, murky eyes. He didn’t seem afraid of being noticed, as long as his face remained hidden.
Each time Ji Yuwei took a taxi home, she had to walk a short distance. The figure followed her like a shadow, seemingly trying to appear casual. But whenever she turned around, he would pretend to be passing by.
Yet the moment she turned away, his gaze would cling to her heart like a venomous snake, leaving her with a suffocating sense of dread.
While he secretly observed her, she was also observing him. After repeated encounters, Ji Yuwei became certain he was stalking her.
She tried contacting the police, but during that time, the man vanished without a trace, as if he had evaporated. With no concrete evidence, Ji Yuwei had no choice but to drop the matter.
The only comfort was that Gu Muchu’s residence was absolutely secure. After that day, Ji Yuwei stayed indoors constantly, but her constant anxiety made her see threats everywhere. Even when she got up at night to fetch water, she imagined the shadow on the sofa was actually someone lying there, or that someone was hiding in the closet, watching her.
It was just a stack of pillows and a slightly ajar closet door.
Ji Yuwei lay on her bed, clutching a water glass. She needed the bright overhead light on even at night and loud music to create the illusion that she wasn’t alone, just to fall asleep.
Thankfully, Gu Muchu was willing to keep her company on the phone, staying connected all night long.
Over the next week, Ji Yuwei let her guard down. When the crew suggested a dinner gathering, she agreed, thinking of the monotonous days she’d been enduring.
The dinner ended early, around nine. After getting ready, she hailed a taxi. Perhaps because she had mentioned the dinner, Gu Muchu didn’t call.
As she sat in the taxi, a chill crept up her spine. Ji Yuwei glanced back and saw the person who had been following her earlier, driving a car. Though she couldn’t make out the face clearly, those murky eyes, like a festering sore clinging to bone, kept surfacing in her mind.
Ji Yuwei suspected he might be a crazed fan.
She didn’t dare tell Gu Muchu any of this, fearing it would worry her. Their marriage was already a fragile bubble on the verge of bursting. If things escalated and their relationship became public, Gu’s family and public opinion could easily crush them.
Like a rushing current, the bubbles were swept away without a trace.
Ji Yuwei herself believed she was a coward.
The taxi circled the city twice. The driver impatiently tapped the steering wheel as night fell, realizing this couldn’t go on.
Ji Yuwei pulled her mask up over the bridge of her nose and said softly, “Driver, please drop me off at the Commercial Plaza ahead.”
After paying, she got out and weaved through the tightly spaced stone bollards. Cars couldn’t enter this area, so as long as he didn’t get out, she’d be safe for now.
The mall was dark at this hour, but the plaza remained spacious, with a few diligent vendors still setting up their stalls, though most were already packing up for the night.
Ji Yuwei walked toward the center of the plaza, the ground lights illuminating the patterns in the stone bricks, gradually calming her fear.
She glanced back and saw the man had stopped his car and was staring at her through the rolled-down window, before unbuckling his seatbelt and getting out.
Seeing him approach, Ji Yuwei scanned her surroundings and spotted a barbecue stall in the distance, bustling with customers.
As she drew closer, the smoky, fiery aroma filled her nostrils, and her chest burned with a searing heat. Ji Yuwei quickened her pace, but when she was still fifty meters away, the smile on her face began to fade.
The Omega was strikingly beautiful. Even with a mask covering her face, her peach blossom eyes seemed to speak, shimmering like rippling water. Several burly men, stripped to the waist, noticed her and their eyes lit up, exchanging glances.
One particularly bold man even whistled.
Like an innocent lamb straying into a pack of wolves, Ji Yuwei found herself the object of their predatory gazes. Her legs trembled, a moment of confusion clouded her eyes, and she froze, unable to move forward.
Fortunately, the man didn’t pursue her.
She tugged her clothes tighter, trying to cover as much exposed skin as possible. A gust of night wind sent a shiver through her.
Clutching her phone, Ji Yuwei tried to contact someone from her contact list, only to discover she had only four bars of battery left. Desperate to avoid her phone dying, she ran around the block and found a dilapidated rental shop behind the mall.
The area surrounding the mall was residential, but the streets nearby were still under development, making the area feel particularly desolate at night.
Faded, tattered advertisements clung to the corrugated steel fence, interspersed with phone numbers scribbled and crossed out in black marker. The street was nearly deserted, save for the pale glow of a streetlight beside the rental station, casting Ji Yuwei’s shadow in a long, slanted stretch. Swarming mosquitoes flickered the light intermittently.
Just as the power bank popped out, her phone screen went dark. Ji Yuwei exhaled in relief, ready to return to the Commercial Plaza, when she spotted a figure approaching from the end of the street.
The person wore a heavy coat, a bizarre knitted hat, and a scarf obscuring half their face, leaving only bloodshot eyes visible. The sight inexplicably reminded her of murderers she’d seen on the news.
As the figure advanced, Ji Yuwei realized that returning to the plaza would force her to brush past them. With the sparsely populated alleyway behind her, she decided to confront the person directly. She faced them squarely and called out, “You’ve been following me for days. What do you want?”
Her sharp tone, combined with her striking features, added an air of authority. Yet the figure showed no sign of stopping. Only when they stepped fully into the streetlight’s glare did they lower their scarf, revealing a gaunt, sinister face with eyes that burned with an unsettling intensity.
Seeing Ji Yuwei, the man rubbed his hands together nervously, his words tumbling over each other in excitement. “Are you Ji Yuwei? I’m your fan! I’ve liked you for so long, I’ve been camping under your Weibo posts every day…”
As he spoke, his expression shifted from initial excitement to a dark, manic intensity. “But why didn’t you reply to me? How could you ignore me? I sent you so many messages! You blocked me! Acting all high and mighty…”
He advanced as he spoke, forcing Ji Yuwei to retreat. She frowned, her patience wearing thin. “I don’t check Weibo, and I wouldn’t block you. You’ve got the wrong person.”
The man seemed not to hear her. “Ji Yuwei, I really love you… I just wanted to see you. Don’t blame me, I really love you, I wish I could rip my heart out for you…” The man’s unshaven jaw and disheveled appearance gave him a neglected look.
The rented portable charger was charging her phone at a snail’s pace. Finally, with enough power, her phone booted up. She swiftly pressed the emergency SOS button.
“Your behavior is causing me serious trouble. Please stay away from me,” Ji Yuwei said firmly. She had always assumed that with so few fans, she wouldn’t attract such a fanatical follower.
Fanatical to the point of being sickening and terrifying.
Yet her aloofness only fueled the man’s desire to conquer her. His eyes burned with obsession as he murmured, “I just want to be your friend…”
“I don’t want to!” Suddenly, a dizzying pheromone scent assaulted her senses, setting off alarm bells in her mind.
The man across from her was an Alpha in Heat!
Her body reacted faster than her brain. Without looking back, Ji Yuwei sprinted toward the alley entrance. The icy wind whipped her cheeks like knives as her footsteps pounded the pavement, the empty street echoing with the rhythmic thud of pursuit.
Alphas possessed superior stamina compared to Omegas. Ji Yuwei frantically scanned her surroundings, but the remote location offered no help. Not even a single light broke the darkness beyond the streetlamps. The buildings loomed like predators lurking in the shadows, their silent, gaping maws beckoning the lamb to walk willingly into their trap.
Her phone’s GPS had just sent out an emergency SOS. If she could stall long enough, the police would find her soon.
The friction of bone against flesh sounded like rusty machinery grinding without lubrication. Her throat was parched, and her lungs filled with the metallic tang of rust.
Ahead lay a maze of narrow alleys. Ji Yuwei nimbly slipped into them, switching off her phone screen to prevent any light from giving her away. When her pursuer reached the alleys, he seemed disoriented, pacing outside and calling out repeatedly:
“Yuwei, I won’t hurt you. Come out, let’s talk…”
“Where are you, Ji Yuwei? I swear I won’t do anything to you…”
Ji Yuwei was certain the man was mentally unstable, likely someone with a vengeful personality targeting society. To avoid being found as he roamed the alleys, she sought out a seemingly sealed-off area and climbed over the wall to slip through.
What appeared to be a dead end was actually the narrow gap between two abandoned residential buildings, the overgrown passageway between them choked with weeds. Her exposed ankles brushed against the damp, cool vegetation.
Crouching down, Ji Yuwei silently counted the seconds, dimming her phone screen to its lowest setting. Her eyes fell on dozens of messages from Gu Muchu, flooding her notification bar almost instantly.
For some reason, Ji Yuwei felt an overwhelming urge to cry. She dialed Gu Muchu’s number, and the call was answered almost immediately. The familiar voice flowed through the receiver.
Like the soothing words that had lulled her to sleep countless nights, she remained silent, her ragged breaths pressing against the receiver, misting the screen with a thin layer of white.
Tears of frustration welled up, blurring her vision. Ji Yuwei dared not sob loudly, only stifling her sobs and deliberately suppressing her breathing.
“Don’t stop sharing your location on WeChat. I’m coming to get you.”
Those words instantly filled the Omega’s heart. Her fingers trembling, she tapped on her chat with Gu Muchu and clicked to share her location.
The avatar, bathed in the golden light of dusk, slowly approached.
Ji Yuwei casually wiped away her tears with her sleeve, resolving not to wait passively. The footsteps outside grew closer and then receded, as if the person was certain she was hiding here and wouldn’t come out.
The enclosed space felt safe enough, but if she was discovered, there would be no escape.
Crouching on the ground, the Omega frantically grabbed a handful of loose stones and hurled them outward.
The effect was immediate. The person indeed rushed toward the sound, giving Ji Yuwei the chance to quickly scramble up the footholds on the wall and clamber out awkwardly.
Ahead lay the glow of streetlights. After scaling the wall, she sprinted toward Gu Muchu’s direction, heedless of everything else. Realizing he’d been tricked, the man charged after her, his footsteps pounding the ground.
The dark alley swallowed them whole. Ji Yuwei’s heart hammered against her ribs as she neared the exit. Just as she was about to break free, a hand clamped down on her long hair, yanking her back. The searing pain on her scalp forced a muffled groan from her lips.
The man glared fiercely at Ji Yuwei, his eyes raking over the vulnerable Omega beneath him with predatory hunger. He shoved her violently to the ground, shattering the screen of her phone.
Struggling, Ji Yuwei reached for the phone and, without hesitation, placed a voice call to Gu Muchu.
“Yuwei, why are you running? I just wanted to play with you…” The man tore off his scarf and beanie, looming over her. But Ji Yuwei’s gaze locked onto his ankle. With a sudden, desperate move, she swung her elbow sharply into that vulnerable spot.
The blow, fueled by every ounce of her strength, bought her a precious moment to catch her breath. Ji Yuwei scrambled to her feet, clutching the phone, her clothes snagging on the sharp bricks. Her legs felt like lead, barely able to carry her.
“Yuwei? Yuwei!” Gu Muchu’s anxious voice rang through the phone, clearly hearing the commotion on the other end. But the terrified Omega froze, unable to respond.
Hearing someone chasing her, Ji Yuwei turned to see the man clutching his ankle, gasping for breath. It was clear he had overexerted himself with his earlier attack.
His venomous, sticky gaze glared fiercely at Ji Yuwei as he braced himself against the ground to stand. But the moment he leaned against the wall, he stumbled and collapsed back to the ground.
Gu Muchu’s distant calls grew fainter in Ji Yuwei’s ears. Turning to face the man, who looked utterly vulnerable, Ji Yuwei suddenly stopped in her tracks.
The man grimaced in pain as the light rapidly dimmed. Looking up, he saw the Omega silhouetted against the light, her expression hidden in shadow, but the chilling aura around her was terrifying.
Her slender frame bent down, and when she straightened, a deep crimson brick had materialized in her hand.
Ji Yuwei raised her arm and hurled the brick at him with brutal force. The brick shattered against the wall, sending fragments flying. The man screamed in agony, clutching his head and cursing through gritted teeth.
“Fvck! After all I did for you, just wait till I get my hands on you…”
Before he could finish, a barrage of bricks rained down on him like hailstones. He hunched over, but with his injured ankle, he could only hobble slowly to evade them.
The alley echoed with his howls of pain, punctuated by the shattering of bricks, rising and falling in a cacophony of violence.
Gu Muchu’s hands trembled on the steering wheel. Streetlights reflected in her eyes through the windshield as she struggled to regain her composure.
Just then, Ji Yuwei called. Without hesitation, she answered immediately.
“Yuwei, why are you running? I just want to play with you…”
A raspy, repulsive male voice rasped through the receiver. In that instant, Gu Muchu felt her bl00d run cold. She gripped her phone, screaming helplessly into the void, utterly powerless to act.
Her foot slammed down on the accelerator, pushing it to the floor.
Following the GPS coordinates, Gu Muchu arrived at the back streets of Commercial Plaza. Dilapidated shops lined the area, their dusty mannequins standing in grimy display cases.
She drove straight in, the screams growing louder as she approached the narrow alley at the end.
Finally, she spotted the frail figure. The Omega’s small frame stood at the edge of the alley, where light and shadow met, making her appear even more vulnerable.
Gu Muchu nearly choked on her breath. She flicked on her headlights and leaped out of the car.
Hearing the commotion, Ji Yuwei turned. Her once-beautiful face was smeared with dirt, the corners of her eyes stained a lurid red, and her reddened nose made her look pitiful. Her once-pristine dress was now unrecognizable.
Clutching a brick in her hand, the Omega finally lost her composure the moment she saw Gu Muchu. Tears streamed down her face, leaving wet streaks on her cheeks.
The brick slipped from her grasp, shattering into pieces as it hit the ground.
Gu Muchu rushed toward her. Ji Yuwei could no longer hold back and threw herself into Gu Muchu’s arms, sobbing uncontrollably, unable to utter a coherent word.
The car’s headlights cast their embracing figures onto the wall as police sirens wailed in the distance.
“I… I just went out for dinner today. I never imagined… someone would be following me…” Ji Yuwei cried miserably, her face contorted in anguish as she wiped tears and snot onto Gu Muchu’s shoulder.
“Don’t cry, Yuwei… Elder Sister’s here…” Gu Muchu’s heart ached as she held Ji Yuwei, feeling how much thinner she had become in recent days.
“Gu Muchu, why did you take so long to come?” Ji Yuwei seemed ashamed, burying her face completely in Gu Muchu’s embrace.
Gu Muchu gently brushed her cheek against the Omega’s hair, her own emotions mirroring the other woman’s. Her long lashes glistened with a momentary dampness.
“I’m sorry, Elder Sister is late,” she murmured, lifting her gaze to the slumped, lifeless shadow in the alleyway. A cold glint flashed in her eyes.
Gu Muchu patted Ji Yuwei’s back, urging her to wait in the car. Then, she slowly approached the man.
Tossing her long hair aside, she gently peeled off the suppressant patch from the back of her neck.
The powerful Alpha pheromone surged through the alleyway. The man, still unconscious from the brick attack, trembled violently, retreating in terror.
For the first time, Gu Muchu experienced the sensation of being so enraged that her entire body shook. It felt like plunging into an icy river in the dead of winter, every inch of her submerged in bone-chilling water.
Her shoulders trembled uncontrollably. The pheromones of a high-ranking Alpha exerted absolute dominance over those of a lower-ranking Alpha. The man’s eyes widened with fear as he crawled deeper into the alley.
Gu Muchu’s lips curled into a mocking smile. The sharp clicks of her mid-heeled shoes echoed as she stalked forward, then abruptly slammed her heel down on the man’s groin.
