The Scumbag Alpha's Redemption in a Sweet Romance - Chapter 10
Chapter 10
“Yes,” Yan Hua nodded gently in front of everyone.
Ning Qing couldn’t stand the way Ning Chun was acting. It was so fake. If she really cared, she would have come with them. She only showed up when it was dark, just to put on a show for her and their mother.
“Hey, it’s only been a few days, and you’re already treating her like the apple of your eye. Mom and I aren’t going to eat your little wife,” Ning Qing said sarcastically, leaning back in her chair. She was always blunt with Ning Chun, simply because Ning Chun was such an incompetent sister. She didn’t do any real work and just caused trouble. She had a habit of flirting with people outside of work, and Ning Qing, as her sister, often had to clean up her messes.
Ning Chun was the eldest daughter of the family, and their mother had worried about her a lot. For example, with this marriage, if Ning Qing had done the same thing and gotten married without telling anyone, her family would never have agreed. But Mrs. Xu doted on her eldest daughter and managed to talk their way out of the situation.
“It’s a little late, and I was worried,” Ning Chun hadn’t eaten or even had a drink all afternoon. She saw the glass on the table and drank half a cup.
“Wait—” Yan Hua raised her hand to stop her, but she was too late. That was the cup she had just used.
Ning Chun licked her lips, which were wet from the water, and looked very natural. “What’s wrong?” The water had already been drunk, so there was no need to explain. “Do you want some more?” She pointed to the cup.
“Thank you.”
Mrs. Xu watched the two of them interact, a smile on her face. “Since Little Chun is here, why don’t you two come back in a couple of days? It’s a good chance to meet the family.” She continued, “Oh, right, I was just telling Hua Hua that you two should have a wedding to invite guests. It would be a good opportunity to announce Hua Hua’s identity in our Ning family.”
When Mrs. Xu said that, Yan Hua turned to Ning Chun. She wanted to know what Ning Chun thought. As far as Ning Chun was concerned, holding a wedding would be a waste of time and serve no purpose. Besides, she and Yan Hua would get a divorce sooner or later, so there was no need.
“Let’s not. Yan Hua’s family has a lot to deal with. Those things are more important,” Ning Chun’s tone was very natural. She didn’t hesitate at all and rejected the idea quickly.
The corners of Yan Hua’s mouth stiffened, but she couldn’t say anything. After all, their relationship wasn’t supposed to be public from the beginning. Besides, Ning Chun’s first thought was about her.
“What you’re saying makes some sense, but you can do both things at once. Little Qing, you can help your sister-in-law with her family’s matters, and Little Chun, you can arrange the wedding. It’s a perfect plan,” Mrs. Xu clapped her hands, thinking her plan was flawless.
“Mom!” Ning Qing was not happy. She frowned and said with a half-joking, half-resisting tone, “This is my sister’s business. What am I doing getting involved? Even if I’m willing, I’m afraid my sister-in-law won’t agree.”
Yan Hua’s family matters were complicated, especially concerning her sister. The fewer people who knew, the better. She quickly waved her hand, “You really don’t have to trouble Ning Qing. I can handle it.”
Seeing Yan Hua’s repeated rejection, Mrs. Xu had to give up. She turned her head and asked, “Then what do you think about the wedding? It’s a once-in-a-lifetime event. No one doesn’t want to have a grand wedding.”
Yan Hua hesitated. She should have refused, but an inner voice told her not to. After a moment of silence, she smiled slightly, “Ning Chun has thought it through, and I agree with her.” She was also saying that she agreed not to have a wedding.
“Alright then. Your generation’s ideas change every day, and I can’t keep up, but you still need to go for your monthly health check-ups on time,” Mrs. Xu said, drinking her tea and casually bringing up the topic of having a baby.
For such a sensitive topic, Ning Chun decided not to argue. She just nodded obediently. The group chatted about this and that, and the atmosphere was harmonious. Ning Chun felt that living in such a family was a great blessing.
After the get-together, Ning Chun drove Yan Hua home. In the parking lot, Ning Qing walked towards them with her purse and high heels. She and Mrs. Xu were waiting for their driver.
“Can getting married really change a person this much?” Ning Qing teased. “You’re a completely different person from before.”
Ning Chun chuckled and generously held Yan Hua’s hand. “Of course. I have someone to take care of now. I’m not alone anymore, so I’ll naturally change.”
Ning Qing’s eyes fell on their intertwined hands. She pouted and said with a scoff, “I’m getting married soon too. You don’t need to show off. Also, our Chairman’s birthday is coming up. Remember to bring your wife back with you.”
After sending Mrs. Xu and Ning Qing off, Ning Chun and Yan Hua got into the car to leave. Ning Chun always drove fast and steadily. Her stomach was rumbling from hunger. At a red light, Ning Chun’s hand rested on the steering wheel, waiting. The injury on the back of her hand was more noticeable than it was during the day.
“What happened to your hand?” Yan Hua immediately took her hand to check. The wound wasn’t light. The scabbed area was bruised, showing it had been hit by a heavy object.
“It’s nothing. I just brushed against a wall,” Ning Chun pulled her hand back. The light turned green, and the car moved forward.
Yan Hua clearly had more questions, but Ning Chun looked unconcerned. Instead, she asked her what she did today.
“Nothing much. I went to the beauty salon and bought some clothes. Auntie told me a lot about your family.”
Hearing that it was related to the Ning family, Ning Chun asked without changing her expression, “What did she tell you?”
“Auntie said that you had a traumatic childhood and are stubborn, so she told me to be more patient with you.”
Ning Chun rubbed her nose. Mrs. Xu understood her quite well. “That was in the past,” she said weakly.
“I know. Auntie also said that you have three children in your family and like a lively atmosphere, so I should visit her more often.”
Three children? As far as Ning Chun knew, Mrs. Xu only gave birth to her and Ning Qing. Where did a third child come from? She felt a sense of foreboding. The original book must have hidden some details, and these details might be related to her life.
“I’m done talking. It’s your turn.” During the conversation, Yan Hua had been turned to the side, her eyes on Ning Chun. Ning Chun, on the other hand, seemed to be chatting, but in reality, she was very focused on driving and hadn’t turned her head once, her eyes fixed on the road ahead.
Yan Hua wanted her to tell her where she had been today. Ning Chun blinked and turned the steering wheel. “I went to a business meeting today. The other party was shameless and kept raising the price. In the end, we didn’t reach an agreement, so I came back.”
“Ning Chun, don’t lie to me.” Yan Hua sat up straight, a little angry. “Ning Qing said that you haven’t been to the company for a long time and don’t handle company business. You went to find Qingqing, didn’t you? The wound on your hand is proof.”
Her words were sincere. Even though she really wanted to know about her sister, she didn’t want anyone to get hurt because of her. Her feelings for Ning Chun were complicated. She both hated her and didn’t hate her. Her hatred wasn’t pure, and she couldn’t love her, so the best explanation was that she was using her. Before she could use her to find her sister and solve her family’s problems, Yan Hua didn’t want anything to happen to her.
“Don’t overthink it. When I find her, I’ll let you know.”
When they returned to the villa, Yan Hua went upstairs first. After a few steps, she heard Ning Chun ask the housekeeper, “Is there anything to eat? Even a bowl of noodles would be fine.”
It was very late, and the housekeeper was surprised. He said with a hint of concern, “Miss, why didn’t you have dinner? I’ll have someone cook you a bowl of seafood noodles with lots of crab meat right away.”
“Thank you,” Ning Chun said with a slight smile and took off her jacket. The sleeve was getting in the way, so she pushed it up, revealing her forearm.
She looked a little tired, a far cry from her state at the restaurant. Yan Hua watched her from the corner of the stairs. She couldn’t believe she had come to pick her up without eating. Yan Hua was a little annoyed, but she also wanted to know what Ning Chun had been doing that afternoon.
The housekeeper was afraid Ning Chun would be too hungry, so he brought her some fresh pastries and fruits to hold her over. Ning Chun picked up a piece of crispy pastry and took a bite. When she raised her hand, the housekeeper quickly stopped her.
“Miss, wait.” The housekeeper held up the hand she was using to eat the pastry. There was a large bruise on the inside of her forearm. “How did you get this? It’s so badly bruised.”
“It’s nothing. It looks bad, but it doesn’t hurt much,” Ning Chun waved her hand, refusing to be checked. No matter how worried the housekeeper was, he couldn’t disobey her.
While Ning Chun was eating her seafood noodles, the housekeeper quietly went upstairs. When Ning Chun was full and went back to her room, Yan Hua had already showered and changed into her pajamas. She was wearing a white lace dress with delicate trim on the chest and hem. The neckline was a little low, the dress was a little short, and the fabric had a sheen to it, undoubtedly silk.
Ning Chun stood at the door, staring blankly, forgetting to go inside. Even though she was dense, she felt that something was off. But according to the plot, Yan Hua shouldn’t fall for her, let alone intentionally seduce her. It must be her own perverted mind thinking too much.
“You’re back. Go take a shower first.”
“Oh, okay.” It wasn’t until she walked into the bathroom that Ning Chun felt that something was off. This conversation sounded like it was planned in advance. And even stranger, she had actually listened to her.
Ning Chun took a quick shower, wrapped a bathrobe around herself, and came out.
“Done showering?” Yan Hua asked with her back to her when she heard the door open.
“Yeah,” Ning Chun replied lazily and went straight to her own sofa.
“Come here first. Take off your bathrobe.” Yan Hua was messing with some bottles and didn’t notice Ning Chun’s momentary stiffness. Take off her bathrobe? Did she want her to? In front of Yan Hua? Was she serious? She was naked underneath.
“Isn’t that a little inappropriate? I think it’s more polite to wear clothes,” Ning Chun said. After all, they were in the same room. She didn’t turn around or look at Yan Hua. She just hugged herself more tightly.
A light laugh came from behind her. “What are you thinking? Hurry up and come here. I’ll put some medicine on you.”
It turned out she just wanted to put medicine on her. Ning Chun thought her injuries were minor and not even bleeding, so there was no need for medicine.
Ning Chun stood there for a long time, clearly not wanting to do it. Yan Hua took out her phone, her tone helpless. “Then I’ll just have to call Auntie and have her come help you.”
“No, no, no, I’ll do it!”
Ning Chun sat on the bed. She was so hesitant to take off her bathrobe, but eventually, she had to do it.
