The Scumbag Alpha's Redemption in a Sweet Romance - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
“This is the report. It clearly states that I’m pregnant because of a C-rank pheromone.”
“There are plenty of C-rank Alphas out there. How can you be sure it’s my daughter?” Mrs. Xu was the first to ask. No one took the report.
“The day I left my job, CEO Ning forcibly marked me, which led to my pregnancy. It can all be seen on the company’s surveillance footage.”
“Is that so? I think I remember something. Was it in the afternoon or at noon?” Ning Chun rubbed her forehead, struggling to think.
“It was in the afternoon. It was also raining that day.” The former secretary spoke with conviction, looking like she was negotiating. “You have to take responsibility for me. I want to be CEO Ning’s wife.”
Yan Hua snatched the report, her eyes scanning the predicted date of conception. It was the day she and Ning Chun first met. They had been together ever since.
Before she could read the rest of the report, the paper was pulled away. Ning Chun held her wrist. “I have a wife, and I will only ever have one wife in this lifetime.” Ning Chun was claiming her wife’s position without any concern for the contents of the report.
The former secretary was so angry her face was distorted. She clutched her stomach and gasped for breath. She had originally planned to blackmail them for money, but she didn’t expect to be so strongly rejected from the very beginning. Didn’t they say they had no feelings for each other?
“Since you insist on slandering me, I will call the police to handle this. If that doesn’t work, we can go to the hospital together for another check-up. You choose.” Ning Chun took control of the situation, and the former secretary’s face flashed with panic. “Who knows if you’ll tamper with the hospital and harm my baby? I’m not going.”
“In that case, you’ve chosen to call the police.”
“You! It’s your baby! Why aren’t you brave enough to admit it? Will you only be satisfied when you’ve forced us to our deaths?” Her threat failed, and the former secretary started to be unreasonable.
“Alright, don’t shout so loud. You’re pregnant. What if you hurt the baby?” Ning Qing came in with her phone. “I saw that you couldn’t find your baby’s biological mother, so I helped you out. She’s already outside to pick you up.”
She waved her hand, and a scruffy-looking Alpha appeared at the door. As soon as he saw the former secretary, he rushed to her. “Honey, why did you run off without saying anything? I’ve been looking for you for days. How’s the baby? Come home with me now.”
“Get away from me! I don’t know you!” The former secretary’s expression changed, and her eyes were filled with terror.
“Stop pretending! You’re trying to marry into a rich family with my child. Hurry up and come back with me.”
In the end, she was dragged away. Ning Chun breathed a sigh of relief. It was finally over.
Ning Qing raised her eyebrows at her. “Take the afternoon off. If you go to the company like this, your colleagues will start to wonder.”
“Okay.” Ning Chun belatedly let go of Yan Hua’s wrist. There was already a red mark on her slender wrist. “I’m sorry, I was holding on too tight.”
Mrs. Xu rushed over with medicine, wanting to personally apply it to Ning Chun. But when she saw Yan Hua, she stopped and gave the medicine to Yan Hua. “Then I’ll have to trouble you, Hua Hua, to take care of Little Chun. What a beautiful face, and it’s all swollen now.” Mrs. Xu pretended to have a sore back, swatted away the Chairman’s hand that tried to help her, and called A Xuan to go upstairs with her.
Ning Qing also went upstairs to rest. The Chairman was left alone in the living room, fuming.
Yan Hua followed Ning Chun to the room she used to live in. The cool medicine was applied to her face, and the burning sensation immediately subsided.
“Why were you so far away from me back then? Did you not trust me?” Ning Chun turned her head, her sincere eyes on Yan Hua’s face. From then until now, her emotions had been very calm. Ning Chun didn’t know what she was thinking. “Or are you angry?”
“Yes, I’m angry that you would do something so embarrassing.” Yan Hua spoke harshly, but in her heart, she regretted caring so much about her. To be honest, from the very beginning, Yan Hua didn’t believe it, but she was still afraid—afraid that it was true.
She pushed Ning Chun away and said with a stern face, “I am your wife now. You should be loyal to me. But what did you do?”
Ning Chun was most afraid of her emotions changing. She quickly said, “I admit I’ve done bad things in the past, but I’ve changed since I’ve been with you. I promise it won’t happen again.”
Yan Hua stared at Ning Chun’s pink lips, dissatisfied. “Just words. How can I believe you?”
“Then tell me what I should do,” Ning Chun said. Unconsciously, she was being led by Yan Hua.
“Let’s make three rules. First, you can’t hide anything from me when I ask. You have to be absolutely loyal to me during our marriage. Second, we must have our own private space. Third, you have to take responsibility for me.”
Ning Chun thought about the three points she brought up. They weren’t too difficult. But the third point was a bit vague. What kind of responsibility was she talking about? The initial settings quickly ran through Ning Chun’s mind. She seemed to understand. It was about protecting her and keeping a distance from her, especially during her sensitive estrus. She should stay far away.
“Okay, I promise,” she said easily.
There was only one bed in the room. Ning Chun consciously went to the desk, creating a distance between herself and Yan Hua. The two of them sat in silence. One read a book, and the other looked at her phone. The afternoon passed just like that.
After dinner, Ning Chun suggested they leave. Mrs. Xu was a little unhappy, but the commotion from noon was indeed unpleasant, so she could only let them go.
A short distance after they drove off, Yan Hua received a text message. Her calm expression instantly became tense. “Ning Chun, take me to my aunt’s place,” Yan Hua said with a hint of excitement, her right hand instinctively clenching into a fist.
“Okay.” The car quickly turned around and went in the other direction.
“Aren’t you going to ask me why?”
It was probably about her family’s issues. “I can probably guess. I’ve already found a team of lawyers for you. Just let me know if you need them.”
Yan Hua was a little moved. Her clear eyes stared at her in the moonlight. “Why are you helping me so much?”
Good question. Ning Chun bit the soft flesh of her cheek. She couldn’t very well say it was to complete a mission. She lowered her eyes and then quickly looked up, laughing helplessly. “I like you. Even though our pheromones aren’t a match, I still like you and want to do things for you.” She added in her mind, to ease your hatred for me and prevent you from killing me.
Yan Hua was silent. After a long time, she finally said, “Thank you.” Tonight wasn’t a total loss. Ning Chun breathed a sigh of relief. At least she got a good person card.
The car stopped in front of the building. It was already completely dark. Ning Chun was a little worried. “Are you sure you don’t need me to go with you?”
“No,” Yan Hua said, unbuckling her seatbelt. Her tone was calm. “This is my family matter. I want to handle it myself. It might take a while. You should go back first. I’ll take a cab home.”
“Okay, call me if you need anything.” Ning Chun didn’t start the car until she saw Yan Hua walk inside. But she was still worried and drove to a street corner to park.
The night was very dark, and the moon was mostly hidden by dark clouds. It wasn’t bright at all. Ning Chun parked the car and got out for some fresh air. She leaned lazily against the car door, holding a can of soda. She was tall, and her right leg was half-bent and hidden under her black trench coat, adding a sense of mystery to the dark night.
She considered herself a very patient person, but Yan Hua had been inside for too long. It had been over two hours. She couldn’t help but send a text message, but after half an hour, there was still no reply. Ning Chun decided to go check herself.
It wasn’t far, so she walked. But after only a few steps, she felt that something was wrong. The surrounding atmosphere had an extremely aggressive feel to it. She sensed that there were a lot of Alphas around her who were much higher-ranked than her. Her steps, hidden in the shadows, became faster and faster. She moved quickly, using the cover of the night.
Within three minutes, a group of people appeared in the place Ning Chun had just passed. They were all holding weapons, from baseball bats to daggers. It was clear they were looking for Ning Chun.
The dark clouds dispersed, and the moon showed its true face. Under the full moon, Ning Chun sat on the roof with one leg bent and the other hanging in the air. Her posture was confident and lazy, as if she didn’t care about anything. She thought to herself that the moon was indeed prettier from a high vantage point.
Her phone vibrated twice. It was a message from Yan Hua saying that she was about to come out. Since that was the case, she had to act quickly. She crushed the soda can in her hand, stood up, and called out to the people looking for her below. “Stop looking. Your old man is right here.”
Ning Chun was in a good mood. She stretched her fingers. “I happen to have some time today, so I’ll play with you guys.” As soon as she finished speaking, she leaped down. Her landing was extremely graceful, without the use of any external force. Before she started fighting, she reminded them, “By the way, time is limited, so be quick. I have to go pick up my wife soon.”
The thugs were provoked and rushed at her. Ning Chun was very fast, but there was one B-rank Alpha among them. Even if she could get close, the Alpha’s mental power would affect her and prevent her from throwing a punch. She grabbed a person’s arm, took their baseball bat, and pulled hard, sending the person crashing into the thug who was trying to ambush her from behind. Then, she used her left hand to block and swung the baseball bat with her right, knocking out the thugs on her right.
After taking care of three people in an instant, Ning Chun prepared to kick the person in front of her. She took a breath. These people were obviously stronger than the thugs from last time. It seemed that someone was targeting her. The four thugs who were knocked down struggled to get up. They were tough. Ning Chun’s fists, no matter how hard, couldn’t handle this relentless fighting style.
There wasn’t much time left. She set her sights on the B-rank Alpha who hadn’t made a move yet. Ning Chun lowered her eyebrows. When she opened her eyes again, a connection had been established between her and the Alpha. She controlled the person to successively knock down the thugs around him. The other thugs were scared by this strange sight. Their boss was possessed and was now hitting his own people.
Then, Ning Chun kicked the Alpha. He crashed into a wall, bl00d oozing from the corner of his mouth. The thugs were now completely terrified. The Alpha who was leading them was dazed. He didn’t understand how he had been beaten.
“Now get out of here!” Ning Chun shouted. The group of people scrambled to escape.
Ning Chun rubbed her extremely sore shoulder. At this moment, Yan Hua opened the door and walked out.
