The Scumbag Alpha's Redemption in a Sweet Romance - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
The team leader understood the seriousness of the situation and suggested, “Let’s bring some equipment.”
“What kind of equipment?”
Half an hour later, Ning Chun’s eyes widened at the sight of the high-tech gear. The progress of technology was beyond her imagination.
“What is this little thing?” she asked, pointing at something not much bigger than her pinky finger.
“It’s a covert, real-time surveillance device. Inside, there’s a powerful chip that can monitor an area of 500 meters in all directions.” As long as the little bug could get in, it could monitor the entire layout within 500 meters. However, it required a high level of mental strength from the operator, with a minimum of B-rank.
A direct provocation was the least cost-effective method. Among the bodyguards, there were three B-rank Alphas. Ning Chun had all of them operate the covert surveillance. Some of them would pretend to be new buyers, and the rest would act when the opportunity arose.
Ning Chun had clashed with those people before, and it hadn’t gone well. This time, she needed a disguise. The place for the transaction was an underground clinic, which was a bit remote, about a four-hour drive from the city center. The facade was old, and the place wasn’t very big.
Ning Chun changed her outfit. When she showed up, she was wearing a bunch of big gold chains around her neck and on her hands, like a complete upstart. Especially the eye-catching golden wig that covered most of her face. She walked in with her chin up, and the doctor on duty at the clinic’s eyes immediately lit up.
Once inside, she didn’t say a word and just kept shoving the team leader who was her partner. Ning Chun’s actions were rough, showing extreme dissatisfaction. The team leader’s attitude was hesitant, but his anger ran deep.
The man in the white coat came over eagerly and asked, “What kind of agents do you two need?”
Ning Chun pointed at her partner with her chin, suppressing her voice. “I don’t need any. She does.” With that, she slapped a gold chain she had pulled off onto the table. “We’re not short on money.”
“So you need…?”
The team leader frowned, looking conflicted. “I’m an Alpha, and she’s an Alpha, too.”
The doctor nodded, wondering who the idiot was. “I can see that.”
The team leader turned his back, clenching his fists, looking a little embarrassed. “I want to have a child with her. Do you have any agents for that?”
Two Alphas having a child was a wild fantasy. The doctor was stunned at first, but then he realized they were a big client. The doctor’s face broke into a smile. “Of course, we have everything here. Please, follow me.”
The two of them exchanged a look and followed the doctor inside. The space inside was several times larger than the outside. There were several display stands with various agents, including those that improved mental strength and prolonged life, all of which were not available on the market. There were two thugs guarding each stand, plus the ones at the door, for a total of twelve people.
The last time Ning Chun came, she was alone. She didn’t go inside; she just stole the agent. Ning Chun looked at her surroundings. She didn’t see anyone she had clashed with before. The faces were all unfamiliar and serious, and the security was much stricter than before.
“Our agents are very effective, but the price might be a bit high,” the doctor said, rolling his eyes and speaking tactfully. “I can see that the two of you are sincere, so how about we first verify your funds?”
The last sentence was directed at Ning Chun, as she looked the wealthiest. How could this be a thing? Ning Chun always paid with her card and never checked the balance. She spent money when she had it and didn’t when she didn’t, so she had no idea if there was enough money in the card to meet the threshold.
Ning Chun elegantly pushed her sunglasses down, saying in a pompous voice, “Don’t worry, I have plenty of money. As long as you can solve our problem, the price isn’t an issue.” She took out a bank card from her bag, covering it with one hand as she dropped three micro-surveillance probes on the ground. She handed the bank card over. The other party didn’t need a password and could check the balance at their terminal. The doctor looked up with satisfaction. When he returned the card, his attitude was more respectful than before. “Please take it. I’ll take you to the lab to see the agents.”
It was called a lab, but it was actually the production site. Several people in white coats, fully armed and covered from head to toe, were conducting experiments on a workbench. The items here were a mix of semi-finished products, not the original extracts.
A voice came through the earpiece. They had a partial map.
Ning Chun covered her nose, looking impatient. “The color is so weird. It’s green and purple like poison. It’s creepy. Where’s the bathroom? I need to reapply my makeup.”
The doctor pointed in a direction and was about to have someone guide her, but she refused. “No need. You just focus on introducing the agents to her.” Before leaving, she whispered to the team leader, “This is a big deal. You have to be serious, or you’re not getting into my house.” The voice was low but loud enough for everyone to hear. It seemed today’s client had a complicated private life.
For a moment, the people present relaxed their guard, thinking that Ning Chun was just a rich upstart seeking a thrill with an expensive drug.
Ten minutes later, Ning Chun still hadn’t come out of the bathroom. A thug went in to find her but couldn’t. It was only then that they realized she had already run away.
At this moment, Ning Chun had followed the surveillance’s instructions and found the iron gate she remembered. There were four people at the entrance, one of whom was a B-rank Alpha she had seen last time. This was a bit tricky.
Ning Chun hid in the dark, observing her surroundings. She found a rope and a wrench in a corner. At this moment, the B-rank Alpha suddenly moved. She entered a password on the iron gate, pushed it open, and went inside. This was her chance. She manipulated one of the C-rank Alphas to pick up the wrench. The other teammates asked curiously, “Xiao Sen, what are you doing?”
Xiao Sen’s back was to them, her eyes empty, her face expressionless. She turned around and swung the wrench hard, hitting a vital point.
Aaaahhhh—
“Xiao Sen went crazy! She hurt someone!” The person who was hit fell to the ground, clutching their jaw. Bl00d flowed from between their fingers, and their expression was one of terror. Before they fainted, they mumbled, “She’s possessed! She must be possessed!”
Ning Chun stared at the people, manipulating Xiao Sen to knock out another person. She walked out brazenly and found several handcuffs on these people. Ning Chun chuckled to herself. They would come in handy.
Ning Chun stood outside the iron gate. Behind her were three unconscious thugs, firmly handcuffed to the iron bars around the corner. A voice suddenly came through her earpiece. “The password is 0307#.” The micro-surveillance device had morphed into a black ladybug and was hidden on the mottled wall. You wouldn’t notice it unless you looked carefully.
Ning Chun was about to enter the password when the earpiece suddenly warned, “Someone’s coming. Find cover.”
Footsteps were heard from behind the door. Ning Chun immediately hid around the corner. Before she could hide properly, the door opened. “Where’d they go? Lazying around again?” the B-rank Alpha muttered, looking for them nearby. The footsteps got closer and closer. Ning Chun’s hand was pressed against the wall, ready to go. She didn’t notice that A-sen, the least injured one, was slowly waking up behind her.
Although A-sen was still disoriented, she knew Ning Chun wasn’t on their side. When she heard footsteps, she opened her mouth to shout. Ning Chun flashed out, muted her earpiece, and covered A-sen’s mouth tightly. At the same time, she manipulated an empty iron can around the other corner to make a sound. The B-rank Alpha’s attention was indeed drawn, and she cautiously went in the opposite direction.
Ning Chun glared at A-sen, gave her a chop to the neck, and knocked her out again. This time, she learned her lesson and rolled up their clothes to stuff into their mouths. She acted quickly. With the help of the micro-surveillance, Ning Chun began to build up her strength.
The voice in her earpiece was calm. “You have about eight seconds to move from your current location to the door, quickly enter the password, and get inside. Listen for my command.”
Ning Chun held her breath. Fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead.
“Go!”
On the other side, the team leader was still bickering with the doctor who was proposing an agent. “You mean to tell me to become an Omega? How can you suggest that!” she shrieked.
“Please calm down. This is the plan that best suits your wife’s request,” the doctor said with a forced smile.
At that moment, an underling came to report that Ning Chun had disappeared. The doctor’s face changed slightly. He looked at the fiery team leader next to him. “Your wife seems to have left. Maybe you should try to contact her.”
“How can that be? She probably went somewhere to smoke,” the team leader said, muttering as she took out her phone to call. “The air in here is so bad. You should get an air purifier. Why else would she leave?”
The phone showed that the line was busy. The team leader’s expression changed. “Calling her little side-chicks again!” With that, the team leader slapped the card on the counter, acting all high and mighty. “Just give me the plan. I’m paying for this.”
With money, everything was negotiable. The doctor suppressed his doubts and took her to look at other agents. “Look at this one. We implant a reproductive organ into your body and then combine it with this agent. It can guarantee the safety of both you and the child to the greatest extent…”
…
Ning Chun successfully entered the iron gate. The micro-ladybug also came in, but the place was completely empty. It didn’t look like a place where people would hide.
Fortunately, a voice guided her through the earpiece. “There’s a life source in the northwest direction.”
Ning Chun cautiously walked down the path, only to find that it was a maze. Every intersection had several choices. She walked around four or five times and ended up back at the starting point.
The earpiece gave an instruction: “The map is partially restricted. Go fifty more meters north.” Ning Chun took a deep breath and entered this eerie place again.
Fortunately, she didn’t blindly wander, and with the help, she successfully got through the maze ten minutes later and arrived at a white building. The inside was strange, eerily quiet, and no one was in sight.
She walked inside and found that the place was filled with all sorts of chemical agents and instruments. The workbench was clean, and there were glass slides and some reagents on the side. It was clear that someone had been using them right before she arrived. Something was off. It seemed like she had gotten through two checkpoints, but Ning Chun’s speed was faster than she had expected.
Her eyes scanned the room, and she finally found someone lying quietly in a room. She pushed the door open and got a clear look at the patient’s face.
The face was gaunt and pale, almost just skin and bones, with all sorts of tubes inserted into her body. Most of them were still working. Ning Chun got a clear look at that face. It looked five parts similar to Yan Hua.
