The Scumbag Alpha's Redemption in a Sweet Romance - Chapter 19
Chapter 19
She was completely certain that this lifeless person was Yan Qingqing. If this continued, she would surely die. Ning Chun leaned over, ready to remove the tubes. But just two steps in, her eyes met those of a woman hiding behind a medical cart.
Ning Chun paused for a moment and realized it was the bar owner. How was she here?
“Ning Chun…” The bar owner’s movements were restricted. Seeing her, she became very emotional. “Please, save me!” She looked like she had been here for a long time. Her mind was clearly on the verge of a breakdown. Her words were incoherent, her hair was a mess, one hand was handcuffed to the wall, and she was in a state of complete disarray.
Ning Chun only hesitated for a moment before turning and walking toward Yan Qingqing, starting to remove the medical tubes. She might as well take a chance, as it was a dead end no matter what.
“Ning Chun!” The medical cart, full of supplies, was violently knocked over. The handcuffs on the wall clanged loudly. The bar owner, as if she had found a last resort, desperately tried to get her attention, pleading. “She won’t live for long. She’s been abandoned. Please, save me. I can tell you everything I know.”
Yan Qingqing’s condition was extremely poor. Her breathing was getting weaker and weaker, her face was as pale as paper, and she needed immediate medical attention. But when Ning Chun pulled out the tubes, she found something even more difficult to deal with. A timed bomb was tied to Yan Qingqing’s abdomen. It was currently inactive, but if she tried to remove it by force, it would detonate immediately. Everyone present would die. The explosives were enough to likely affect the exhibition hall as well.
No wonder it was so easy to get in. It was a trap.
“Ning Chun, I’m begging you, please save me. I really don’t want to die.” The bar owner was in tears, kneeling on the floor, begging. It felt as if countless hands were stirring her brain, trying to confuse her thoughts. It was a disgusting and chilling feeling.
“Quiet!” Cold sweat dripped down Ning Chun’s jaw. She took a deep breath and walked over to the bar owner. “She has a bomb on her. Do you know how to remove it?” Ning Chun stared intently into the bar owner’s eyes. In her fright, the bar owner clearly tried to avoid her gaze.
“I… I don’t know.” The bar owner curled up into a ball, pressing against the wall. “I really don’t know.”
Ning Chun crouched down and tried to use brute force to unlock the handcuffs, but her palms were cut, and they didn’t budge at all. “Does this thing require a certain rank?”
“Yes. You need B-rank or higher mental strength to open it.” The strength was more than enough, but the mental strength was not. Ning Chun couldn’t open it.
“I’m sorry,” Ning Chun said, lowering her head.
The bar owner collapsed on the floor. Was she just going to die here? “But your mental strength is clearly very strong. Please, try again.” The bar owner begged her to try one more time. But the problem remained, and no matter how many times she tried, the result would be the same.
Ning Chun straightened up and looked at the unconscious Yan Qingqing. “If I can get her out, I’ll find a way to come back for you.”
The bar owner laughed in agony. How could that be? This place was so dangerous. Once she was out, she would never come back.
Ning Chun walked back to the bed and looked at the different-colored wires on the bomb, a plan forming in her mind. She found a suitable tool and prepared to cut one of the wires.
“What are you doing?” the bar owner asked, sitting up and raising her head.
“Removing it.”
“Are you crazy? If you cut the wrong one, we’ll all die here.”
“Wouldn’t that be great? At least three people will go together. We won’t be lonely on the road to the underworld.” Ning Chun raised her arm, ready to cut.
“Wait! I’ll tell you which one to cut, but you have to come back and save me,” the bar owner said, giving in.
“Okay. And you have to tell me everything you know,” Ning Chun said, putting down her hand and adding to the price calmly.
The bar owner wanted to curse. At a time like this, she was still thinking about bargaining. She had never met anyone like her, but in the face of death, nothing else mattered. Her only hope was Ning Chun, so she gritted her teeth and said, “Okay, I promise.”
“Cut the yellow one,” the bar owner said.
Ning Chun’s movements were quick. With a snip, the wire was cut. The bomb didn’t explode. The part of it connected to Yan Qingqing was released. But before she could take a breath, a countdown suddenly appeared on the calm display screen: 20 minutes.
The answer wasn’t right, but it wasn’t wrong either.
Ning Chun immediately helped Yan Qingqing up and carried her on her back. The girl was so thin, she felt impossibly light.
As soon as she stepped out the door, an excited voice came through the earpiece. “We finally have a signal, Miss.” It turned out that the room had a signal blocker that cut off Ning Chun’s contact with the bodyguard team.
“I need backup. Arrange for people to wait for me outside the iron gate in four minutes.”
“Roger that!”
As Ning Chun sprinted away, chaos erupted in the exhibition hall. The team leader found an excuse to argue with the doctor and called in half of their own people. The situation quickly turned ugly. It was unclear who made the first move, but the two sides started fighting.
Ning Chun was relatively smooth, but as she reached the iron gate and handed Yan Qingqing over, the B-rank Alpha appeared with a dagger.
“Take her to the hospital. Make sure she’s well taken care of.” Ning Chun told the people who came to meet them to go first. She swung her arm, preparing for a tough fight.
A robotic voice sounded at the right time: Mission 1 complete. Host’s mental strength will be differentiated from C to B. Differentiate immediately?
She made it. Everything was under Ning Chun’s control. Once her rank differentiated to B, she could deal with the person in front of her. Ning Chun chose to differentiate immediately without hesitation.
The moment she chose to differentiate, Ning Chun felt much lighter all over, and her limbs were filled with stronger power.
Choose to accept the negative after-effects of differentiation postponed?
What were negative after-effects postponed? Ning Chun didn’t understand, but time was running out, and the system wouldn’t screw her over. She chose yes.
Host’s command has been received. The negative after-effects of differentiation will occur in three hours.
Ning Chun clenched her fists and faced the incoming attack. Before the dagger could fall, Ning Chun teleported to the person’s right side and delivered a hard punch to their unguarded abdomen. The person was sent flying. The opponent was also surprised. She was so fast, even faster than the last time they fought. But a B-rank wasn’t just for show. The thug quickly got up from the ground and swung the dagger past Ning Chun’s side. The person’s wrist was extremely flexible and managed to twist and stab Ning Chun’s shoulder.
The two exchanged three or four moves, both getting hurt. Ning Chun had thought about using consciousness manipulation, but she still had to get back to the door, so she couldn’t keep her under control. The longer she delayed, the more time she wasted. Ning Chun took advantage of her opponent’s punch to grab her arm, stabilized her lower body, and gave her a shoulder throw.
With the throw, something on her opponent’s waist also flew out. Ning Chun picked it up and saw that it was a drug that caused unconsciousness. She panted and injected the drug into the person’s neck. “You should have told me you had this good stuff. You wasted my time.”
On the other side, the bar owner was hiding in the corner, with one knee hugged. The numbers on the screen were getting smaller and smaller, and the speed was getting faster. She even started cursing, cursing everyone she had met. By the end, her face was covered in tears, and she was crying uncontrollably. The countdown reached three and a half minutes.
Ning Chun was practically sprinting. As soon as she entered the room, she rushed toward the bar owner’s handcuffs. Before she could catch her breath, she clenched her hands around the handcuffs, gathered her mental strength, and with a snap, the handcuffs broke.
“Hurry, let’s go!” The bar owner forgot to cry. She got up and followed her, running outside.
Ning Chun ran in front, but they hadn’t even gotten out of the maze when a small explosion occurred in front of them. The heat and wall fragments flew toward them. Ning Chun couldn’t dodge in time, and a bloody scratch appeared on her cheek. It was a dead end with attacks coming from both sides.
The wall next to her suddenly collapsed. Ning Chun was oblivious, still thinking about how to get around the ruins in front of her to get to the exit.
“Look out!”
…
Explosions went off one after another. The secret location quickly became a ruin. Even the sparse residents in the surrounding area couldn’t help but ask for news. The bodyguard team split into two. One team escorted Yan Qingqing to the hospital, while the other stayed behind to wait. The doctor was also still alive and had evacuated in time. She looked at the destroyed clinic and exhibition hall in front of her, her heart broken. “This… this was all my hard work! It’s all ruined, all ruined!”
She pointed at the team leader and roared, “It’s all your fault! You came here on purpose to cause trouble!”
“Hey, I haven’t even blamed you for burying bombs in a medical facility. Do you want us to call the police to judge?”
The doctor was in the wrong, and the things she lost were illegal drugs, which she absolutely could not let the police know about. She could only swallow her anger, glared at them fiercely, and left with the few subordinates who survived.
“Captain, should we call the search team?”
The young mistress had said that they shouldn’t involve others unless necessary. Just as they were hesitating, a tall figure appeared in the thick smoke. Upon closer inspection, something was dangling next to the figure. It was only when they got closer that they realized it was a person.
Ning Chun emerged, limping, with the bar owner in her arms. She let out a long sigh of relief when she saw her own people.
“Miss, you’re hurt. I’ll take you to the hospital.” The team leader took the person from her and looked at Ning Chun’s injuries.
“Get her settled. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be on my way.”
Ning Chun knew her physical limit and remembered the negative after-effects the system had mentioned. There had been enough chaos for one day. She had to go home immediately. The car was driving fast, but no matter how fast she drove, she couldn’t outrun time. At about half the distance, the time for the negative after-effects of differentiation arrived.
Ning Chun felt the back of her neck become scalding hot, and her body started to ache in varying degrees. But her mind was still clear. She endured the severe pain and drove all the way home. As soon as the car stopped at the door, Ning Chun went straight upstairs and locked the door behind her. The housekeeper who was following her could only wonder aloud what was going on today, as everyone was in such a hurry.
Ning Chun fell to her knees, face-planting. So this was what the negative after-effects of differentiation were. Simply put, it was the pain of differentiation, a key part of the differentiation period. She was in so much pain that she almost fainted. Her phone rang, and it was Yan Hua. Ning Chun was sprawled on the marble floor, sweat dripping from her forehead and the back of her neck. She looked like she had just been pulled out of the water. But this torture would continue for a while.
