The Scumbag Alpha's Redemption in a Sweet Romance - Chapter 26
Chapter 26
The water in the round bathtub gradually filled up. Yan Hua turned off the faucet and looked at Ning Chun, who was kneeling blankly by the edge of the tub, watching the petals on the water.
She was truly drunk.
“Get in.” Yan Hua gestured with her chin.
Ning Chun’s cheeks were flushed. She pointed at herself with her finger, a little disbelieving, and asked with a slurred tongue, “Can… can I?”
Yan Hua was amused by her appearance and pretended to be serious, pinching her hot, soft cheeks. “Yes, you can!”
“That’s great.” Ning Chun was completely dazed. She kept giggling at the pink rose petals in the bathtub and even scooped some up to scatter them in the air.
She propped her hands on the edge of the bathtub, shouting, “I’m a fish. I can finally go home.” And then, without any warning, she buried her head in the water.
Water splashed everywhere. Yan Hua stared at the scene, stunned.
I told you to take a bath, not drown yourself.
Ning Chun had great lung capacity, but she was unconscious and started blowing bubbles as soon as she was in the water.
“Get out now, don’t drown.” Yan Hua was genuinely scared, but there was a huge difference in their strength. No matter how much she pulled, Ning Chun wouldn’t come out.
“This isn’t your home. You went into the wrong one.” It took a lot of coaxing, but she finally got her out.
Her hair was completely wet, sticking to her face and collarbone. Her upper body was soaked, and there were many watermarks on her chest.
Yan Hua pursed her lips and grabbed a towel to wipe her face. “It’s getting late. Hurry up and wash.”
Ning Chun seemed to have sobered up a bit. “Wash what?”
The towel covered her entire face. “Wash yourself!”
“Oh, okay.” She did whatever Yan Hua told her to do. She took the towel off her face and started undressing.
Yan Hua took a half-step back, propping her hand on the marble counter. Her gaze couldn’t help but dart toward Ning Chun.
The wet dress lay on the floor, and her eyes slowly moved upward.
Ning Chun had wrapped herself in a towel.
Yan Hua felt a headache coming on. She said very seriously, “Take off all your clothes and get in there and wash yourself. Otherwise, you’re sleeping here tonight.”
Ning Chun looked at the cold, hard bathtub and wanted to protest, but what came out was, “Then you go out. I’ll wash myself.”
Who would have thought that even when she was drunk, she would be so shy?
Yan Hua placed a few essential toiletries next to her hand, telling her to make sure she washed herself thoroughly.
With Yan Hua gone, Ning Chun spent nearly two hours fiddling around in the bathroom. If there hadn’t been constant noise, Yan Hua would have thought she was really going to sleep in there.
When she came out, Yan Hua was already in bed, flipping through the latest issue of a financial magazine.
Without pajamas, Ning Chun could only come out wrapped in a towel. After coming out, she didn’t go to her own side of the bed but instead went over to Yan Hua, lifted the covers, and got in.
“What are you doing?” This was so unusual.
A pair of cool hands wrapped around her waist. Ning Chun poked her eyes out from under the blanket, pitifully saying, “The water was so cold. I’m freezing to death.”
Indeed, alcohol damages the brain; she didn’t even know how to turn on the hot water.
“No, we’re not at that stage yet. You can’t hug me.” With that, Yan Hua tried to pry her arms off.
“You’re the most important person in the world to me,” Ning Chun mumbled with her eyes closed. She didn’t let go; instead, she hugged her even tighter.
The most important person? Yan Hua didn’t believe it. She had seen many people whose marriages broke down because of family.
Because compared to their partner, their bl00d relatives were more important.
For example, with her sister, if she had to choose between Ning Chun and her sister, Yan Hua would definitely choose her sister first.
But after making the assumption in her mind, Yan Hua suddenly realized the answer wasn’t so simple. She couldn’t be so firm and even felt conflicted.
Ning Chun had so many people in her family, each one more valuable than herself. How could she possibly put Yan Hua first?
She lowered her eyes and placed her palm on Ning Chun’s face. It was so soft and comfortable.
“Why am I the most important?” The tone was one of gentle persuasion.
Ning Chun half-closed her eyes, thinking of her mission. It was supposed to be about changing the ending, but why did she feel like things were going wrong?
In the beginning, she did treat it as a mission. Just like in the apocalypse, every time she teamed up to fight a monster, her only belief was to achieve the mission objective.
No one talked about emotions or friendships. Everyone was very indifferent, and they wouldn’t get close to each other. A light sense of distance was the safest.
But this world was different. People needed each other, cared about each other, and communicated frequently to maintain their relationships. Ning Chun liked this feeling.
To be missed, to be cared for, to be scolded—these were feelings that only flesh-and-bl00d people could have.
She closed her eyes and rubbed her forehead against Yan Hua’s waist. “Because you’re more important than my life. I will protect you.”
Yan Hua was the key that connected her to this world and the person she was most familiar with.
“But you don’t even like me. How could I be more important than your life?” Thinking of the words from the phone call, Yan Hua felt a little uncomfortable.
“Who said that? I fought to get you back.”
“You remember the sin you committed?” Mentioning the beginning, Yan Hua felt something was wrong. At that time, they didn’t even know each other.
Ning Chun’s words were not convincing. So far, she had never taken the initiative. Even when they were helping each other out of a sense of duty, she was very resistant.
The last marking was too shallow and quickly faded.
Yan Hua brushed aside the hair on the back of her neck, revealing the pink scent gland. Maybe it was because of the alcohol, but the gland was radiating heat, and she felt a strong impulse to touch it.
She gently pressed her fingertips on it. Ning Chun felt uncomfortable and let out a muffled groan.
The skin on her neck was very fragile, turning pink with just a few touches. Ning Chun was still not sensitive enough to notice, which was how Yan Hua managed to get her way again.
“Can you… can you stop touching?” she said uncomfortably. She was genuinely feeling a little unwell.
This was the only time she could be like this. Normally, it was hard to even get a hug from her. How could Yan Hua let this opportunity slip away?
She was definitely going to make the most of it.
Her nails were clean and neatly trimmed. The thin tips gently pressed on the scent gland. Yan Hua looked down at her, her voice seductive. “Then, will you kiss me?”
The dizzy Ning Chun used what little sanity she had left to think for a moment and decided that it was a good idea.
She nodded and sat up from the bed. She was a little unstable, and Yan Hua had to support her waist to keep her from falling.
She smiled radiantly and confirmed again, “I’m going to kiss you. You can’t go back on your word.”
Yan Hua also nodded, waiting for her next move.
Her slightly warm hands gently lifted Yan Hua’s chin, one on each side, as if she was afraid of hurting her.
Ning Chun looked at her features: beautiful eyebrows, eyes filled with a galaxy of stars, a high nose bridge and a small nose, and lips that were a delicate pink. She couldn’t help but compliment her. “You are so beautiful.”
Yan Hua had known she was good-looking since she was a child because people often said similar things to her. Some were flattering compliments, some were undisguised envy, and some were intentional teasing.
But none of them were as sincere as Ning Chun’s. Her eyes were bright, without any other impurities, and her appreciation for the beauty was from the bottom of her heart.
There was no jealousy, no possessiveness, no malicious gaze, just like a naive child giving the purest compliment.
But she was too slow, so slow that Yan Hua couldn’t help but poke her with her fingertip. “Are you going to kiss me or not?”
“You have to close your eyes first.” Ning Chun shrank her neck.
Fine. She had a lot of demands.
Yan Hua closed her eyes. Her thick eyelashes were illuminated by the light, casting a small shadow underneath her eyes.
Then the shadow slowly grew bigger. Someone was getting closer.
Ning Chun’s scent invaded their shared space.
A gentle touch slowly landed on her forehead. Just as Yan Hua opened her eyes, Ning Chun had already fallen back onto the bed and wrapped herself tightly in the blanket.
Is that it? Is that what a kiss is supposed to be?
This couldn’t be blamed on Ning Chun. She was a monster hunter from the apocalypse with zero dating experience. The closest contact she had ever had was a face-to-face rub, and that was with a soft, fuzzy monster.
When she said “kiss,” she really meant just one kiss. She never specified where. The cheek and forehead were the first choices.
But Ning Chun had also held her face, so she could only choose the forehead.
“Can you turn off the light? I’m so sleepy.” Ning Chun pulled on her arm, urging her. She had been through so much today and was truly exhausted.
Yan Hua sat on the side of the bed, feeling a little flustered. This kind of touch was more unbearable than an unreachable itch.
Was Ning Chun always like this? No, that’s not right. In the beginning, she was very aggressive.
When did she become like this?
It was truly puzzling.
The lights in the room were all turned off. In the darkness, Ning Chun leaned over. She wrapped her arms and legs around Yan Hua and hugged her tightly.
Compared to her body temperature before getting into bed, she was astonishingly hot now, and even her breathing was scorching.
Yan Hua was alarmed, wondering if she had been too rough just now and accidentally caused her to get aroused.
But there was no scent of pheromones in the air. Thinking of this, Yan Hua remembered the chaos from last time. Back then, Ning Chun had released her pheromones.
That scent was clearly fresh but could cause a strong feeling of intoxication.
She poked Ning Chun’s arm. “Release some pheromones for me, okay?”
“I don’t have pheromones.” Ning Chun buried her head in the blanket and didn’t respond.
Yan Hua pushed the arm around her waist away, refusing to let her cling to her.
Her newfound way of cooling down was interrupted, and Ning Chun felt hot and frustrated.
A little while later, that very fresh and cool scent appeared in the air again.
It was very, very faint. At first, it felt very refreshing, and most of her sleepiness was gone. But later, she felt like she had been drinking, her head was dizzy, and her eyelids started drooping.
The moment Yan Hua closed her eyes, she finally knew what Ning Chun’s pheromones smelled like.
It was mint wine.
It seemed harmless. At first, there was no effect, but the aftereffect was very strong.
She was falling into a stupor while still conscious.
No wonder she fainted right after being marked last time. She had thought it was a mismatch, but it was because of the pheromones.
Just as her consciousness completely faded, she felt a familiar sensation, a familiar embrace. She was once again held tightly in Ning Chun’s arms.
It wasn’t until the next morning, when the sun was shining brightly, that Ning Chun woke up from her dream, rubbing her swollen temples, and realized she had been hugging Yan Hua all night.
A bad thought surfaced in her mind. Especially after she discovered a few red marks on Yan Hua’s fair arm, her whole world came crashing down.
Had she done something unforgivable while she was drunk?
Life was hard. She had finally managed to change her impression of herself. Was it all going to be ruined because of this?
Ning Chun sat on the bed and buried her head in her hands, crying. She should have never drunk alcohol. It was all the damn alcohol’s fault. She couldn’t remember anything that happened last night.
