The Scumbag Alpha's Redemption in a Sweet Romance - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
“Dream on! I won’t marry that scumbag!” Yan Hua slapped her aunt’s hand away, and the pretense of politeness vanished instantly.
“Bah! Don’t be so ungrateful! You have no father, no mother, and no one to rely on now. Who knows where you’ve been messing around all this time? Your purity might have been snatched away by some playboy long ago. How dare you be so picky with me? I am your elder, and you must listen to me!”
Her aunt had a brazen look on her face and a sinister smile. “If you don’t agree today, don’t even think about seeing your sister! You can’t just watch your sister die from her illness, can you?”
Ning Chun considered herself someone who had seen humanity’s ugliest side, but even she felt sickened by those words. Using a loved one’s life as a threat was the most shameless act.
Yan Hua was trembling with rage and disgust. Her hands, hanging at her sides, clenched into fists. She had been raised in a protected environment, like a butterfly in a greenhouse, and was completely unprepared for her aunt’s true, ugly face. She was flustered and at a loss for how to respond.
Just as she felt helpless, a warm hand gently covered her cold one. She looked up and saw it was Ning Chun, who gave her a slight smile, as if to say, “Don’t worry, I’ve got this.”
Seeing that brilliant smile, a lot of her anxiety inexplicably eased.
Ning Chun was tall and had long legs. She smoothly pulled Yan Hua behind her, protecting her. She had a smile on her face, but her eyes were indifferent. She said with a half-joking tone, “Auntie, is it? I haven’t had a chance to introduce myself. I am Ning Chun, the heir to the Ning Corporation, and I am Yan Hua’s legal spouse and the ‘playboy’ you were just talking about.”
She casually took a gilded business card out of her pocket. It had Ning Chun’s contact information and job title. Putting everything else aside, the high-end custom card alone was worth a lot of money. The aunt, who had been somewhat skeptical, now completely believed Ning Chun’s identity.
The words “playboy” were normally the least dignified, but coming from her, they were alluring in a way that didn’t match her cold, reserved demeanor.
It was widely known that the Ning Corporation was the most promising corporation in Huajing, with assets spread across the country. It was no exaggeration to call them the wealthiest family. Even many of the Yan family’s business deals needed the Ning Corporation’s approval to proceed.
The aunt’s mind suddenly went blank. She stared blankly at the beautiful woman with the exceptional aura in front of her. She had no idea that Ning Chun was so powerful. And she never imagined that someone with such great prospects would marry that worthless Yan Hua.
A golden ticket had suddenly fallen from the sky, and she had just said a lot of terrible things right in front of Ning Chun. She was filled with regret. If only I had asked for her identity first!
As the aunt stood there, shocked, Ning Chun raised her eyebrows. “You were completely wrong just now. Yan Hua is not without a protector. I am her greatest support.”
Yan Hua was completely surprised that Ning Chun would stand up for her. Her emotions became a complicated mess.
Ning Chun shot a cold look at the aunt, who shivered. Her tone became icy. “I don’t have many good qualities, but I’m big on appearances and very protective.”
The aunt finally came to her senses. She didn’t dare to breathe and said fawningly, “Miss Ning, what are you talking about? I was just thinking of Hua Hua’s well-being. She’s not a child anymore.”
“If you’re thinking about her, then tell me where Yan Qingqing is. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude.”
Ning Chun conveniently clenched her fist, making a loud, frightening cracking sound.
The aunt was both terrified and surprised, but she still refused to reveal the location. She continued to spew nonsense. “I really don’t know! She disappeared two days ago. Who knows if she ran off with someone?”
Ning Chun’s bright, amber eyes stared intensely at the woman, making her feel even more uneasy and less likely to tell the truth.
Suddenly remembering something, the aunt’s confidence returned. She grabbed a vase from the table and threw it toward them, yelling, “You’re not welcome here! Get out!”
“Watch out!” At the last second, Ning Chun pulled Yan Hua back. The vase missed, and Ning Chun blocked it with her bare hand.
With a few pangs, the porcelain vase shattered completely.
Yan Hua, protected by Ning Chun, didn’t even see what had happened. The attacker, however, was stunned. Just now, the vase hadn’t even touched Ning Chun. How did it just break in mid-air? And she had controlled the direction she threw it, only intending to scare them away.
When the sounds subsided, Ning Chun calmly looked at the thin cut on the back of her hand, where a few drops of bl00d had seeped out. It was no big deal.
Others might not have known, but she did. It was conscious manipulation. Ning Chun had no idea that her ability from the apocalypse would come with her to this world. It seemed that everything she had—her strength and her fighting skills—had accompanied her here.
They should have told me sooner. She had always preferred to use force to get her way. Sometimes, a fist was more effective than logic. For example, with the unreasonable woman in front of her.
Yan Hua also saw the bl00d on the back of Ning Chun’s hand. It was spreading, like fresh red plum blossoms on her pale skin, and looked horrifying.
“Ning Chun, your hand.”
But Ning Chun didn’t care. She blocked Yan Hua’s attempt to examine it, put the car keys in her hand, and pushed her toward the door. “Be a good girl. Wait for me in the car. I have something to talk about with your aunt, alone.”
This was Ning Chun’s first time here. What could they possibly have to talk about? And she had a wound on her hand.
Yan Hua was angry but didn’t want to leave. Her watery eyes stared unblinkingly at Ning Chun, who responded with an even more playful smile. “Are you that clingy with me? Be a good girl.”
This time, Yan Hua was truly furious. She glared at Ning Chun, turned around, and left without a moment’s hesitation.
To think I was worried about her! Someone so ungrateful should just bleed out and die!
The moment Yan Hua left, the smile on Ning Chun’s face disappeared. Her expression was now cold and detached, as if the previous smile was an illusion.
Ning Chun went straight to the point. She sat on the sofa with her legs crossed in a dominant posture. “Let’s talk. Do you want to tell me yourself, or do you want me to help you?”
The aunt’s hands were tightly clenched, her entire body tense as her eyes nervously darted to the side.
Fifteen minutes later, Ning Chun walked out of the door with a confident stride. She stood on the steps, her tall, slender figure framed by the elegant sway of her coat. The morning sun was perfect. She raised a hand to shield her eyes, and golden light streamed through her fingers, like scattered gold dust on her face.
She hadn’t seen such beautiful sunlight in a very long time. She loved her life here; it felt so real.
Hearing the sound, Yan Hua, who was sitting in the car, looked out the window. Ning Chun was bathed in sunlight, looking both cool and warm, full of charm.
In the past, seeing Ning Chun always filled her with fear. After what had just happened, she didn’t feel as much hatred. Okay, maybe 99% hatred.
Seeing Ning Chun look over, she quickly shrank back and rolled up the car window, pretending she hadn’t been looking.
Ning Chun let out a small laugh and took long strides toward the Rolls-Royce.
Soon, the car was cruising smoothly on the flat left-hand lane.
A little while later, Yan Hua realized this wasn’t the way they had come. Ning Chun was taking her somewhere else.
“Where are we going?” Yan Hua asked warily.
“Don’t worry, I’m taking you to your sister,” Ning Chun said. Her long fingers rested on the steering wheel, moving nimbly. Yan Hua found herself staring at them for a long time. They were pale and well-formed, with thin blue veins hidden beneath her skin. Her fingernails were trimmed and clean. Apart from a thin callus on her right middle finger, every part of her hand was almost perfect. What would it feel like for those hands to touch her?
“What are you looking at?” Ning Chun suddenly asked.
Yan Hua looked away in a panic, her ears turning bright red. She stammered, “Nothing… I wasn’t looking. Just daydreaming.”
“Stop the car. I need to buy some things.” Yan Hua pushed the car door open and walked toward a convenience store on the side of the road.
A moment later, Ning Chun stared at the box of wound-healing patches in her hand, confused. The small wound didn’t need them at all.
Yan Hua held up a bottle of disinfectant, wanting to clean the dried bl00d from the back of her hand.
“No need. It’ll heal on its own.” In Ning Chun’s world, medical supplies were scarce, so any self-healing wound wasn’t worth using medicine on.
“Don’t move.” A soft breath fell on Ning Chun’s face, carrying the faint scent of jasmine. If she remembered correctly, this was Yan Hua’s pheromone scent—a very soothing and gentle fragrance.
It also had a hint of heat.
Ning Chun simply turned her face away, unable to handle this uncontrollable flutter of desire.
Yan Hua felt a pang of guilt. The wound was because of her. As she wrapped the bandage, she said, “This brand of healing patches is very effective. A wound like this will be as good as new in an hour.”
That’s amazing. It’s like a special healing item.
Ning Chun couldn’t help but look. Her eyes met Yan Hua’s careful, serious expression. She could clearly feel how gently she was being cared for as she wrapped the wound. It was a very soft and comfortable feeling.
Ning Chun’s heart skipped a few beats.
The car window was rolled down, and the wind quickly blew away the romantic atmosphere.
Following the GPS, the car stopped at the entrance of a riverside bar street. This place had a beautiful view and was a great spot for drinking and having a good time.
Ning Chun looked around. The buildings stood by the river, most of them three or four stories tall, either hotels or bars, with a few small shops scattered in between.
Yan Hua’s face, however, had soured. When Ning Chun told her to get out of the car, she didn’t move. How dare she bring me to a place like this in the middle of the day, after tricking me into thinking we were going to find my sister? She shouldn’t have believed a dog could change its ways.
“I’m going back!” Yan Hua said, full of resistance.
The place did not look like one for respectable people. Ning Chun just assumed she didn’t like it and didn’t force her.
There were very few people on the bar street in the middle of the day. Ning Chun saw a sexy Omega walking toward them. She casually grabbed something and got out of the car, completely missing Yan Hua’s increasingly ashamed and angry expression.
Ning Chun walked toward the Omega, who looked at her without surprise.
The Omega was full of charm. “Well, CEO Ning, it’s been a while since you’ve been here. The sun must have risen from the west today. It’s not even dark yet, and you’re already here. Are you that impatient?”
Ning Chun’s hand, which was about to make a move, froze. An old acquaintance? Was this some old debt? And Yan Hua was still in the car. Although she didn’t turn around, she felt two cold arrows shoot into her back.
Ning Chun quickly pulled up the system’s data. The woman was the famous owner of the bar street. The entire street of buildings belonged to her. The original owner had spent a lot of money on her and had even said some stupid things about marrying her. Their relationship was very ambiguous.
Before Ning Chun could say anything, the owner noticed Yan Hua in the car. She seemed to strip Yan Hua bare with her eyes through the windshield, her voice full of jealousy. “Who is that girl? I’ve never seen her before.”
Ning Chun laughed awkwardly and offered the owner a white mint cigarette. The woman didn’t take it, clearly wanting an answer first.
The flame from a silver lighter ignited the cigarette. Ning Chun took a shallow puff, her voice playful. “Didn’t you just say it? A ‘girl’.”
The mint flavor was very strong, but Ning Chun, who had never smoked, couldn’t get used to it. The owner looked at her tenderly, then scolded playfully, “Fine, I know what you’re like. I’ll go see for myself.”
Oh no! Ning Chun took a big puff and nearly choked. She slowly blew out a smoke ring that landed directly on the owner’s face, making her angry and annoyed.
Ning Chun had to apologize with a smile, and the owner finally gave up. She took the cigarette from Ning Chun’s hand, took a puff from the filter, and deliberately turned her head to look at Yan Hua in the car.
Ning Chun didn’t know what Yan Hua was thinking, but she felt this owner was very useful. She had looked into the aunt’s consciousness and learned that the last place Yan Qingqing was seen was here. There was a strong possibility that she was still here. If she could get the owner’s help, finding Yan Qingqing would only be a matter of time.
Yan Hua, however, was furious. The way Ning Chun blew the smoke ring was flirty and charming, clearly trying to seduce the other woman. Had she forgotten the purpose of their trip?
Riverbank Bar Street was a notorious red-light district. Yan Hua had known for a long time that Ning Chun had been here and had even made it into the entertainment news multiple times. Such a shameless person should be torn to shreds. What infuriated her even more was that Ning Chun had the audacity to bring her here and flirt with another woman right in front of her!
If she remembered correctly, they had just signed a marriage agreement this morning.
Yan Hua had only one thought right now: she wanted a divorce.
