The Scumbag Alpha's Redemption in a Sweet Romance - Chapter 30
Chapter 30
When the “white moonlight” and the current wife appear in the same place, nothing good ever happens.
But this was not only Ning Chun’s house; it was Yan Hua’s house too.
Yan Hua had always been polite to the domestic helpers and rarely asked them to do things for her, but today was different. Song Xiaoran had come to the door.
She couldn’t help but ask the helpers to make tea and serve some snacks, making sure to show her place in the family.
But Song Xiaoran only smiled and said to the butler, “I remember Xiao Chun loves the homemade preserved plum shortbread. Could you bring me a few pieces too?”
Song Xiaoran had been here many times before and was especially familiar with the layout of the house.
She looked around, feeling more confident. “This place is still the same as before. The painting on the wall is still the one we bought together at an art exhibition. So many years have passed in a flash.”
Yan Hua followed her gaze. On the wall not far away hung a huge painting of a sea of flowers in azure blue.
The base color was a rich shade, with various blues of different depths superimposed on top, making it unforgettable at first glance. Yan Hua had also admired it a few times in her leisure time. It was indeed a painting worth buying.
So they bought it together.
The more Yan Hua thought about it, the more she felt something was off. Ning Chun had never been interested in painting. The art books in the study were even unopened. She had only opened them after Yan Hua came.
So it was Song Xiaoran who liked it and wanted her to buy it to decorate the house.
“That painting is indeed very beautiful.” Yan Hua affirmed. The origin was not important; being able to appreciate it was.
The helper served the snacks and tea at the right time. Song Xiaoran glanced at it and said apologetically, “I’m sorry, but I’m used to drinking Earl Grey tea. Could you get me another cup?”
The house had all kinds of teas, and even more than a dozen types of coffee beans. But since this was Miss Yan’s order, the helper was a little hesitant and looked at Yan Hua.
Yan Hua didn’t seem to mind. She waved her hand and said, “Please brew another cup for Miss Song.”
The tea was freshly brewed, and the two continued to chat.
Song Xiaoran sat on the sofa, her posture elegant. “I’m sure Miss Yan has suffered a lot since she married Xiao Chun. I heard that Auntie Xu didn’t agree at first. It’s rare that you two have gotten along until now.”
Yan Hua drank her hot tea but didn’t understand what she meant.
From Song Xiaoran’s standpoint, she definitely wanted her and Ning Chun to break up so she could get back together with her. So what did these words mean?
“Miss Song, you might as well just say what’s on your mind. There are no outsiders here.”
Song Xiaoran looked at the plate of preserved plum shortbread and said, “You might not know what Xiao Chun was like before, but she wasn’t as bad as the entertainment media said.”
“After I broke up with her, she was deeply affected, which is why she became so indulgent and aimless. Miss Yan just happened to appear when she was most heartbroken and in need.” Song Xiaoran’s expression was a little sad. “Xiao Chun didn’t marry you because she loves you. I know her. She wouldn’t get married so carelessly.”
Song Xiaoran told her that Ning Chun used to take her for rides on her motorcycle, confessed to her in a big way at university, rented an entire estate for her birthday, and invited many friends.
Yan Hua remembered the agreement they signed, which was indeed as simple as it could be.
This was a double standard. She suppressed her emotions on the surface, but she was already planning how to question Ning Chun.
“She changed so much because of me. I’m also at fault, so I want to make it up to her. Miss Yan, do you understand?”
Yan Hua just looked at her quietly. She didn’t want to argue with Song Xiaoran, because what she was saying was all about the past with Ning Chun, which, strictly speaking, had nothing to do with her.
But there was one thing: the old Ning Chun was indeed very good to Song Xiaoran, so good that she was a little jealous.
“It doesn’t matter whether I understand or not. This is between you and Ning Chun. I don’t want to interfere. I believe she can handle it well.” Yan Hua stood up to leave, but Song Xiaoran stopped her.
“Thank you for taking care of Xiao Chun during this time. I brought some gifts and would like to ask you to give them to her.”
It was a feather brooch with a pink diamond as the main body. Song Xiaoran had specifically brought it back from abroad. She had originally wanted to give it to her in person, but unfortunately, she didn’t get to see her today.
She also took out a beautifully wrapped luxury perfume from the bag. “This is for you. It has a very nice citrus scent. It’s just right for this season.”
Besides these, she also prepared many other things to eat and use, not only for her and Ning Chun but also for the domestic helpers.
She was being very thoughtful.
After receiving the gifts, Yan Hua curled her lips and furrowed her brows, looking a little at a loss on how to explain. She thought for a moment and said, “Miss Song, there’s something you might have misunderstood.”
“What is it?”
Yan Hua said with a smile, “I haven’t taken care of Ning Chun much. All this time, she’s been taking care of me. You might not be very clear about how she and I get along, but that’s okay. It’s not a big deal. Thank you for the gifts. I really like them.”
Saying this, Yan Hua felt a rare sense of pleasure. Although it was a bad thing to feel, she just couldn’t stand being talked down to.
All day long, Ning Chun was in a meeting with the collaborators, discussing the details of the plan. Finally, they reached an agreement. The two sides were very satisfied with the result.
Ning Chun let out a long sigh of relief and told Ning Qing the news. Although the project was under her name, Ning Qing was involved in most of the work.
After receiving the news, Ning Qing praised her and then explained a lot of details. “This is just the beginning. The later stages will definitely involve supplementary clauses. I have a friend who is a lawyer. If she’s in your legal team, it will save you a lot of trouble.”
“This is just the beginning, and you’re already thinking so far ahead.”
“In this business, the most important thing is to be prepared. I’ll send you her contact information. I’ll take her to meet you tomorrow.” Ning Qing finished her arrangements in a few sentences and quickly hung up.
Ning Chun looked at the new electronic business card on her phone. She opened it and saw a profile picture that seemed to be of the person herself. She had layered, medium-length black hair with a few blue streaks at the ends, which showed a strong personality.
Her eyes were sharp, and her lips were very pale. She was staring straight at her. There was a small black mole at the corner of her left eye. It was a professional photo, but her jawline was still very distinct. The first impression she gave was of a serious and rigid person, which fit the stereotype of a lawyer.
Looking at the introduction, Mu Fengqing was a top student from an Ivy League school with an extremely low graduation rate. The cases she participated in abroad were one more breathtaking than the last. Her resume was rich and brilliant.
After reading it, Ning Chun only had one thought: Was such an excellent talent being wasted by being with her?
But then again, such a person wouldn’t stay by her side forever. The key was to do the project well.
When she got home after the social event that night, there were many beautifully packaged sweets on one end of the dining table. She found it curious, thinking Yan Hua had bought them, and picked up a piece of financier and ate it.
It had a very fragrant almond flavor, and the soft texture was mixed with the scorched butter. It was very delicious.
She hadn’t drunk much wine tonight, but her stomach still felt empty, and she wanted to eat something to fill it.
She ate a few pieces of everything on the table. By the end, she felt a little full, so she went to the fridge to get a bottle of water.
Yan Hua came down when she heard the noise. She saw Ning Chun standing by the table, chewing on something with her cheeks moving, and knew she was eating the desserts Song Xiaoran had sent.
“Is it good?” she walked over slowly and asked.
Ning Chun nodded. She wasn’t picky at all. As long as the taste wasn’t particularly bitter or strange, she could eat it.
“Did you buy all this? Why did you suddenly buy so much? Did you go shopping today?” Ning Chun looked at the names of the desserts and found that they were not from the same store. It must have taken a lot of effort to buy them.
Yan Hua pulled out a chair and sat down. She also took a piece at random and shook her head. “No, Song Xiaoran sent them. She said you used to love eating these, and they are full of sweet memories between you and her.”
She took a bite and exaggerated. “It’s really delicious. I can taste the memories.”
Ning Chun stopped chewing. What happened when she wasn’t here? Her raised arm paused, and she put the remaining half back.
“This is just a dessert. It’s made of grain. It’s not some magic potion. How can it have sweet memories?” Ning Chun said, drinking water and trying to defend herself.
“It doesn’t?” Yan Hua asked doubtfully, taking a bite. After tasting it carefully, she said, “Maybe I tasted it wrong just now.”
“Look at that painting. Does it make you feel anything special?” Yan Hua guided her to look at the huge blue oil painting on the wall.
“It’s very beautiful. It’s always been hanging here.” When it came to art, Ning Chun had no artistic talent and had never been exposed to it. In her eyes, there was only a simple and crude distinction between beautiful and ugly.
“That’s right. It’s been a long time. How about we change it? We could change it to a sea of flowers in spring, with pink as the base color. What do you think?” Yan Hua stood in front of the painting, talking excitedly about her idea.
“Sure. Then I’ll find someone to customize one for you according to your preferences.”
From the looks of it, Ning Chun didn’t care about this painting at all. Yan Hua couldn’t help but ask, “Can you bear to part with it?”
Ning Chun looked at the painting a few more times. Was there something she didn’t know? Or did she say something wrong?
“What’s wrong with this painting? Should I not be able to part with it?” she asked slowly.
“Nothing.” Yan Hua only said, “I want to paint one myself and hang it here.”
Her family’s elders were very good at painting, so it wasn’t surprising that she could paint as well.
Ning Chun had no objection to this.
Yan Hua felt a rare sense of frustration. She had planned to question her, but none of it was needed. At the same time, she also had some doubts.
What Song Xiaoran said about the past didn’t seem fake. The details and the timeline were so clear. She could feel that Song Xiaoran cherished those memories.
But Ning Chun gave her the feeling that she didn’t remember them at all.
“Song Xiaoran came today. She talked a lot about your past.”
When she heard this, Ning Chun was drinking water and suddenly choked. She started coughing violently.
Yan Hua immediately grabbed some tissues and handed them to her. “I just mentioned it casually. Why are you so worked up? If she hadn’t come today, I wouldn’t have known that there are such good foods in Huajing. She also mentioned a few shops that you two used to frequent. I’m quite curious about them.”
Ning Chun directly transferred the million yuan she had received today to Yan Hua without keeping a single cent. “Special funds. Go visit all those places you’re curious about.”
Yan Hua raised an eyebrow. “Are you trying to get rid of me with money?”
