The Scumbag Alpha's Redemption in a Sweet Romance - Chapter 31
Chapter 31
“I didn’t mean that.” Ning Chun put down the water bottle, feeling that she had come home a bit too early today.
She was even a little puzzled as to why no one had given her a heads-up that Song Xiaoran was coming today.
She was “interrogated” as soon as she got back, without even a moment to prepare.
“Alright then. I have a few questions for you.” Yan Hua took a piece of paper from the side and picked up a pen, ready to write on it.
Ning Chun had a long face. “You’re still asking?”
Yan Hua gave a doubtful and serious “hmm,” with her voice trailing up at the end.
Ning Chun rubbed her face and smiled happily. “Ask away. I’ll tell you everything, and I won’t hold anything back.”
“What do you like to eat?”
What kind of a question was that?
Her bright eyes blinked. Ning Chun began to think carefully. “I like seafood and meat, but I don’t like bl00d or a fishy smell. I love the seafood at home, and that cherry cheese pie from the restaurant we went to before was very good. I like all fruits as long as they aren’t too sour or bitter.”
Yan Hua scribbled on the paper, then put her pen down and asked, “Can you be more specific? That’s a bit too general.”
Ning Chun rubbed her head. “As long as it’s not bad, I like it.”
Well, that was even more general.
“What you used to like was very specific. People could remember what kind of dessert you liked from which store. How did that change now?” Yan Hua gestured to the desserts on the table, hinting.
It was back to this again.
Ning Chun rubbed her shoulders, a little tired. “You said ‘used to.’ People change. You’ve been with me for so long. Don’t you know what I like?”
She was implying that she wasn’t lying and was telling the truth.
“Alright, let’s talk about something else. What kind of clothes and jewelry do you like?”
On this topic, Ning Chun had no say. She had no idea about the value of jewelry. The first time she went, she was almost blinded by the diamonds, but she would only buy what looked most pleasing to her.
As for clothes, besides what the store assistants and the butler recommended, she rarely chose her own. Even when she did, she would prioritize sturdy, durable, and tight-fitting ones that were easy to move around in.
Although she had been in this world for a while, Ning Chun still couldn’t get rid of some of her apocalyptic mindset, such as eating a lot, always wanting to compete with people, and being ridiculously vigilant.
Two days ago at the company, an employee patted her on the back, and she almost gave them an over-the-shoulder throw.
Fortunately, she reacted in time and put them down just as their feet were about to leave the ground. Otherwise, it would have been hard to explain.
Ning Chun yawned. “My taste is pretty average. My aesthetic isn’t great.”
“Then take a look at this.” A champagne-colored box was pushed toward her.
Ning Chun opened it and had only one thought: “This diamond is so big and shiny.”
“Is this for me?” She took out the pink diamond feather brooch with a laugh, wanting to try it on.
“It’s for you.” Yan Hua also laughed, and then her tone shifted. She said with a smile, “But this was sent by Song Xiaoran.”
The action of putting it on paused. Ning Chun let out a small “oh.” The brooch swung in her hand, but it was safe in the end and was put back into the box.
“This brooch doesn’t match my style,” Ning Chun said as if she had just realized it.
She had just seen Song Xiaoran yesterday, and today she sent such an expensive gift.
What was she trying to do?
Yan Hua saw that she wasn’t going to wear it and said, “I can’t afford to give you such an expensive gift right now. This Miss Song thinks very highly of you.”
The brooch was custom-made and had a rare pink diamond. Its brilliance and luster showed that it was very expensive.
According to the current market price, it would cost at least eight figures.
To spend such a large amount of money so casually… no wonder the chairman was so eager to collaborate.
If her family knew she had accepted this brooch, they would probably overthink things.
Ning Chun’s expression became serious. “I can’t accept this. I have to return it.”
She closed the box and pulled Yan Hua upstairs. “I’m really tired. My shoulders are stiff. I want to rest early.”
After they both washed up, they lay on the bed, one on each side.
Yan Hua pulled the blanket up and suddenly said, “I want to use the money you transferred to me just now to buy a few things for the house. I also want to set up a studio.”
“That’s fine. I have no problem with that.” Ning Chun closed her eyes, already feeling sleepy.
“To be honest, after hearing what Song Xiaoran said today, I’m a little curious about what you were like in the past. Was your wild behavior really because of her?” She said she didn’t care, but she kept asking again and again.
She didn’t get a response because Ning Chun’s breathing was already steady, and she was asleep.
Her breathing was very shallow, and you couldn’t hear it if you didn’t listen carefully.
Yan Hua hugged the blanket and moved closer to her. Her mind was replaying everything that had happened recently.
She was forcefully married by Ning Chun. At first, she was indeed very resistant and even scared. But Ning Chun was not as violent as she was when she first brought her back. Instead, everything she did was beyond her expectations.
Could a person really change so much in a short amount of time?
She didn’t know if the Ning Chun now was the same person as before. When she was first brought back that night, Ning Chun touched her, but she didn’t feel the need to get close. She even felt disgusted. At that time, Ning Chun was also very violent and cold.
But now, she couldn’t control her physiological desire to be close to her.
Yan Hua had never believed in the saying “a reformed person” or “settling down after marriage.”
Because human nature is hard to change. Most people would rather regret it afterward than stop when they are doing something.
She was wondering if the current Ning Chun was the real deal or just a facade.
Yan Hua was also considering. Since Ms. Xu wanted them to get a checkup, she could use this opportunity to get Ning Chun’s genetic file and find out what was going on.
That weekend, they made an appointment for a checkup at the same institution where they had purchased the plan before.
As soon as Ning Chun and Yan Hua came out of the elevator, a staff member guided them to the waiting area.
A little while later, the Ph.D. student from last time walked out of her office.
She was overjoyed. “I finally get to see one of you again. Let’s do a basic checkup first.”
Ning Chun was still half-asleep and looked listless. If Yan Hua hadn’t pulled her, she would have remained standing there.
After a series of precise instrument checks, they waited for nearly an hour, and the Ph.D. student finally came out with the results.
“I have never seen such a magical compatibility before. You two must be very in love.” The researcher held back, not revealing the result all at once.
Ning Chun felt that something was not right. She took the sheet and looked directly at the result column: 60%.
That was a three-fold increase.
They had reached the passing line.
The researcher was still talking non-stop. “I think one’s pheromones must contain some kind of mutually attractive factor, which is why this result appeared.”
They planned to use them as a test sample to create a new research topic and explore an unknown field in the history of pheromone research.
Ning Chun didn’t hear a word she said.
She had a bit of a headache. She could even imagine the expression on Ms. Xu’s face when she got the results. Besides joy, she would definitely start urging them to have a baby.
“Isn’t this data a bit forced?” Ning Chun asked, pointing at the 60%. “I remember this is the passing line. My wife and I didn’t have such a high compatibility in the beginning. Will it go down later? I think this data is not very stable.”
The researcher was stumped. This was indeed a first. According to the law of conservation, where there is an increase, there will be a decrease. No one could guarantee whether the subsequent data would increase or decrease.
“Of course, we can take some measures to help one of you stabilize the compatibility.” The researcher was a little at a loss.
Yan Hua was also surprised. Could it be that just being together could increase compatibility?
But when Ning Chun marked her last time, the mark was very light and could only be considered a temporary mark. She didn’t feel any changes in her body afterward.
Ning Chun looked at the doctor with a smile that was a little creepy.
The researcher took a half-step back. “Just tell me what you need.”
“My family elders are more concerned about our next generation. As you know, it’s impossible to conceive if the compatibility is too low. So, please be sure to indicate on the sheet that this compatibility is not suitable for having children. Do you understand?”
The researcher held her chest. She was scared to death. She thought it was something serious, but it was just to deal with her family. “Don’t worry. Our institution also prefers high-compatibility and high-quality genes.”
Yan Hua, who heard every word, felt a sudden pang in her heart. Did she not want a child?
“Then let’s go. There’s nothing else.” Ning Chun pulled Yan Hua, intending to leave, but Yan Hua pulled away.
“You were injured before. Do you want to check your gene sequence again to be safe?”
A person’s gene sequence is something they are born with. No matter how they differentiate later, these are the absolute factors that cannot be changed.
And they are unique.
The researcher said at the right time, “We can do it very quickly here. We can also compare the data with the initial data in the database to accurately help you find any problems.”
With the two of them working together, Ning Chun naturally couldn’t refuse. Anyway, they were already there, and it wouldn’t do her any harm.
A little over ten minutes later, the comparison sample came out. The data was basically consistent, and the fixed major basic items had not changed at all.
It could be confirmed that Ning Chun was that Ning Chun. This person hadn’t changed from beginning to end.
With the results in black and white right in front of her, Yan Hua suppressed the last bit of doubt in her heart. She had been overthinking.
Perhaps Ning Chun was different from everyone else.
“Are you relieved now? Is there anything else? Can we go?” Ning Chun simply thought that Yan Hua was worried about her.
The two of them left the testing facility and planned to go to a nearby restaurant for dinner.
When they arrived, Yan Hua got out of the car first, and Ning Chun parked the car in the open-air parking lot.
Just then, a tall woman with blue-dyed hair walked out from the other side.
She also didn’t expect to see Yan Hua there. She called out from a distance, “Xiao Hua!”
Yan Hua turned around in surprise. The moment she saw Mu Fengqing, her joy outweighed her surprise.
Mu Fengqing jogged over and carefully looked her up and down, not missing any changes. She asked with a smile, “How did you get so thin? Did you not eat properly?”
“When did you come back? You didn’t even send a message so I could pick you up.”
Yan Hua didn’t have many friends, and Mu Fengqing was one of them. They lived next door to each other when they were little and often played together.
Later, they moved, and although they were far apart, they still met up from time to time. Their relationship was much better than that of ordinary friends.
Mu Fengqing missed her very much and wanted to know if she was doing well in the country during this time.
Just as she was about to hold her childhood friend’s hand, a loud voice from not far behind them asked, “Who is this?”
They had their backs to the car, so they naturally didn’t know how intimate they looked to Ning Chun.
