The Scumbag Alpha's Redemption in a Sweet Romance - Chapter 32
Chapter 32
Ning Chun looked at the person who had suddenly appeared, her brows furrowing uncontrollably.
She thought she was here to take advantage of Yan Hua.
Anger burned inside her. Her hands, hanging by her sides, were clenched into fists, ready to throw a punch at any moment.
Yan Hua and the other woman turned around when they heard the voice, only to see Ning Chun’s stern face, looking unapproachable.
Before Yan Hua could even make an introduction, the person beside her said in surprise, “CEO Ning?”
At this moment, Ning Chun also saw the person’s face clearly. It was the senior lawyer she had just met at the company two days ago.
Her feigned serious expression relaxed. She raised an eyebrow. “Lawyer Mu, what are you doing here?”
Yan Hua first looked at Ning Chun, then at her childhood friend. “You two… know each other?”
“Yes, Xiao Hua, let me introduce you. This is the head of my company, Ms. Ning. Just call her CEO Ning.” Mu Fengqing said.
Yan Hua couldn’t describe her feelings, but it felt a little strange. She winked at Ning Chun.
But Ning Chun seemed not to have seen it. She didn’t respond or explain their relationship. Instead, she just watched lazily, as if waiting for her to call her “CEO Ning.”
Mu Fengqing didn’t see the silent communication between them.
It wasn’t until Yan Hua put her hand on her arm. “Fengqing, I don’t want to meet her. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other. How about I treat you to dinner?”
“Sure.” Although the situation was a little awkward, Mu Fengqing still nodded in agreement.
Ning Chun pouted as she looked at the hand that was now on Yan Hua’s arm. She took two steps forward, pulled Yan Hua over, and directly held her by the shoulders, fixing her in her arms.
“Lawyer Mu, Yan Hua is my wife. She’s just being difficult. Since you’re my wife’s friend, I’ll pay for this meal so you two can catch up.”
Before she could finish her announcement, Mu Fengqing’s expression changed.
Yan Hua was married, and to her own boss, no less.
“Ning Chun, Fengqing is my best friend since childhood. You have to take good care of her at the company.”
This only made the alarm bells go off in Ning Chun’s head. Could it be that Mu Fengqing was the target of her new mission?
Ning Chun narrowed her eyes, carefully examining her.
So she was the childhood friend.
Mu Fengqing was also discreetly sizing up Ning Chun.
So she was the one she married.
The atmosphere between them instantly became very subtle, with a sense of tension.
Yan Hua, caught between the two, wasn’t comfortable either. She tugged at Ning Chun’s clothes and greeted Mu Fengqing. “I’m so hungry. How about we go eat first?”
The three of them entered the restaurant together.
The waiter handed them the menu. Ning Chun didn’t even look at it and pushed it directly to Yan Hua. Her smile was sickeningly sweet. “Hua Hua, what would you like to eat?”
Yan Hua blinked. Why was she calling her that all of a sudden? It was so strange.
And wasn’t this the restaurant she really wanted to come to? Why was she letting her order?
“Anything is fine.”
“If you two don’t mind, I’ll order. It’s been a long time since I’ve had authentic Huajing cuisine. I really miss it,” Mu Fengqing said.
She ordered quickly, listing several dishes. After ordering a dish of bamboo shoot and fish stew, she specifically told the waiter not to add coriander because Yan Hua didn’t like it.
The dishes were brought to the table one by one. Since they all drove, they didn’t order alcohol and each ordered a drink instead.
Ning Chun had always been very focused when eating, only paying attention to her own food and rarely serving others. But today, she was very unusual and more considerate than ever.
It was as if she wanted to treat Yan Hua like a child.
Yan Hua thought she was trying to show her best side to her friend.
From the moment they sat down, she was pulling out chairs and helping with napkins, as if she wanted to do everything herself.
After the food was served, Yan Hua only looked at it for a few seconds before Ning Chun started serving her, almost to the point of feeding her directly.
“Is this how you two always get along?” Mu Fengqing asked, dumbfounded.
Of course not. Ning Chun was just overwhelmed by a sense of crisis today.
Yan Hua held her chopsticks and smiled. “Yes, she always takes the initiative to do a lot of things for me.”
Mu Fengqing found it hard to believe. “You used to really dislike people being close to you.”
Yan Hua lowered her head. Her smile faded a bit, and her tone became slightly sad. “I did before, but now that Ning Chun takes care of me, I don’t think being close is a bad thing.”
Her past refusal to let people get close was to get her mother’s attention and receive the care she longed for.
But later, Ning Chun gave her that care, and she slowly stopped resisting so much.
“Okay, you don’t have to serve me anymore. This is already a lot.” Yan Hua stopped Ning Chun’s hand.
Mu Fengqing scooped the delicious soup from her bowl with a spoon, but she didn’t have much of an appetite. “I really didn’t expect you to get married. This is too sudden for me. You didn’t even email me to tell me.”
She gave up her high-paying job abroad and chose to come back for Yan Hua.
As a friend, it wasn’t too much for Mu Fengqing to complain or be angry.
“Sorry. I was really busy a while ago. It was too much to even handle.” Yan Hua also felt that she was wrong. Her sister was missing, and she was kicked out of her home. She was almost at a dead end. She really didn’t have the mind to contact her friends far away.
To be more realistic, even if she had told her, she wouldn’t have been able to come back. It would have only made her worry.
The atmosphere suddenly became stagnant. Fortunately, the waiter came over to serve another dish.
“This lobster pot looks great. Let’s eat it while it’s hot.” Seeing that the situation was not good, Ning Chun kept telling them to serve themselves.
At this point, Mu Fengqing also realized that she was a little out of line. She said half-jokingly, “If I had known we would meet today, I would have brought a big red envelope. It’s a bit of a pity that I didn’t get to drink your wedding wine.”
Ning Chun almost choked on her food. She wanted to say, “Don’t be sad, because there was no wedding wine at all.”
By the end of the meal, Mu Fengqing was the one who did most of the talking, and Yan Hua responded a few times. They were talking about funny things from their past. Ning Chun couldn’t join in and could only rest her chin in her hand and listen.
After the meal was finally over, Mu Fengqing said that she had just come back and was looking for a place to live nearby, but she hadn’t found a suitable one yet and was just making do at a hotel.
Ning Chun immediately had a bad feeling. As expected, her next sentence was to ask Yan Hua if she could accompany her to look at some houses, as she wanted to find a place to live in the next couple of days.
“Looking for a house? That’s simple. I have experience. How about I go with you?” Ning Chun volunteered herself, patting her chest and saying that she had experience and could definitely help her find a suitable house.
What experience could she have? A person who had never rented a house before was so confident in saying such a thing.
Not to mention Mu Fengqing, even Yan Hua didn’t believe her.
In the end, what was supposed to be a trip for two became a trip for three because Yan Hua wasn’t at ease.
As soon as the real estate agent arrived, Ning Chun pulled them aside and whispered a lot of things to them.
Then they went to look at houses. The first one was a 300-square-meter apartment. The decoration was simple, and the furniture was sparse. It was a very minimalist style that couldn’t be moved into immediately, but Ning Chun thought it was great.
“This is good. The security is very high.” Ning Chun patted the double-leaf black door.
The agent, being observant, came over to introduce it. “This door is made of international-level high-dimensional bulletproof material. Even a cannon can’t break it. It’s absolutely safe.”
Yan Hua: “…”
Mu Fengqing: “…I don’t need such a strong door. Something that can stop a thief is fine.”
Okay, that one was out.
They then went to see the second one, which was a two-story villa.
Ning Chun touched the wall and nodded with certainty. “The walls are strong and thick. The safety factor is very high here.”
“But this is a little too far from the company. It’s not convenient for commuting,” Mu Fengqing brought up a practical issue.
“That’s true. To choose a house where you can rest well, the distance can’t be too far.” Yan Hua agreed.
After that, they looked at one place after another, and none of them were satisfactory. But all the houses met one standard: they had a high level of security.
But this was far from what Mu Fengqing expected.
Toward the end of their search, she asked casually, “Xiao Hua, where are you living now? What are the conditions like there?”
Yan Hua didn’t think much of it and told her. “The environment is very good, and the security is also good. It’s just a little far from the company.”
“The distance shouldn’t be a problem since CEO Ning also lives there.”
Mu Fengqing quickly told the agent to check if there were any vacant houses in that area.
There were actually quite a few, and she immediately decided to go look at one.
While they were talking about this, Ning Chun answered a call from Ms. Xu, who talked about the results of their checkup. She told them to take good care of their bodies, hinting that they could have a baby after their relationship stabilized.
Ning Chun dodged the questions and gave perfunctory answers. She finally finished the call.
When they got in the car to go to the next location, she found it increasingly familiar and asked, “Are we not looking at houses anymore? Or are we inviting Lawyer Mu to our house for a meal?”
Yan Hua touched her chin and thought for a moment. “We definitely have to look at the house. Going to the house for a meal is also an option. I’ll call the butler now. They can prepare in time for dinner.”
When they arrived at the destination, Ning Chun was stunned. This was her next-door neighbor’s house! How did she end up looking for a rental next door?
Was there any need to guess what she was thinking?
She stood at the door, frustrated. Mu Fengqing had already gone up. Yan Hua went up the stairs and found that she hadn’t followed. She called out to her twice. “Hurry up and come over. Help me see if this house is solid.”
Throughout the entire process, Ning Chun was frowning. She found fault with everything.
The real estate agent was sweating and trying his best to salvage the situation. “Ms. Ning, although this villa is not as big as the one next door, the building materials used are the same. There’s definitely no shoddy work. We have a contract with insurance.”
When it was time to make a final decision, Mu Fengqing looked at the view outside the window. “This place is nice. I’ll take it.”
The agent immediately beamed with joy and took out the contract that had already been drafted for her to sign.
Yan Hua was also very happy. Now they could live close to each other and see each other often.
It seemed that only Ning Chun was a little unhappy.
Yan Hua poked her face. “Why do you look so glum?”
“Nothing. I’m just hungry.”
After everything was done, on the way home, Ning Chun asked, “Do you have a nickname?”
Yan Hua was stunned for a moment and shook her head. “No.”
Ning Chun looked outside, deep in thought. “But I heard her call you something like ‘Xiao’ something.”
“Oh, that. Only she calls me that. We used to play ‘biggest’ and ‘smallest’ when we were little, and I was always the smallest, so she started calling me that.”
So it was an even more private nickname.
