The Scumbag Alpha's Redemption in a Sweet Romance - Chapter 38
Chapter 38
“Huh? This isn’t going to work, right?”
Making perfume requires distillation. Wouldn’t that mean she would turn into jerky?
Fortunately, Yan Hua’s later actions were limited to hugging and cuddling, and she didn’t mention perfume again.
The next day, the two went to Ning Chun’s university. The weather was great, and the school environment was also very nice. Some memories were added to Ning Chun’s mind.
The two strolled around the campus, one in front of the other. When they got tired, they found a place that sold ice cream to rest.
Yan Hua sat under a white umbrella, and Ning Chun went into the store to buy ice cream.
There were many flavors of ice cream. She stood there, hesitating between vanilla and mint.
She was about to point to the vanilla flavor when she heard someone call her from behind, “Xiaochun.”
Song Xiaoran was very surprised to see her here.
Ning Chun stood up straight. “I’m here to buy ice cream.”
Song Xiaoran smiled. “Then let me treat you. Is it still your favorite hazelnut chocolate?”
“No, thank you,” Ning Chun refused. She turned to the cashier and said, “One vanilla and one mint.”
Seeing that she bought two, Song Xiaoran thought one of them was for her. But then Ning Chun asked, “What flavor do you want? I’ll pay for it.”
The happy mood came to an abrupt end. Song Xiaoran just randomly chose one.
Ning Chun took the ice cream and said goodbye to her. She trotted toward the resting area under the tree outside.
A girl was sitting there with her back to her. Her slightly wavy long hair reached her waist. She was propping her chin with one hand, waiting boredly.
Song Xiaoran felt a pang of sadness. Some things, once missed, really can’t be taken back.
Ning Chun held up the two ice creams and let Yan Hua choose.
“What flavors are they?”
“Vanilla and mint.”
“I’ll have the mint one.”
Ning Chun bit into the scoop of ice cream. The aroma of vanilla filled her mouth. It was delicious. She took a big bite.
Yan Hua first took a small sip. It was very cool and refreshing, especially in the heat, but it felt a little strange, like eating toothpaste, if you ate too much.
She tugged on Ning Chun’s arm. “Let me try yours.”
At this point, Ning Chun had just taken her last bite and had already chewed up the cone.
She looked at Yan Hua, blinked, and then chewed faster.
“You finished it?” Yan Hua knew she ate fast, but this was so cold, and the scoop of ice cream was so big. Didn’t her teeth feel cold?
Yan Hua pinched her chin and checked her mouth.
Ning Chun licked her lips and nodded.
Seeing that the person in front of her was about to get angry, Ning Chun immediately explained, “No, I’ve already eaten it. It has my saliva on it.”
“Then you could have saved the clean part for me!”
Ning Chun’s mouth slightly opened. What a strong logic. She was speechless.
She even thought what Yan Hua said made a lot of sense.
“Next time, I promise.”
Ning Chun saw some ice cream on Yan Hua’s lips and lowered her head to look for a tissue in her bag. Before she could take it out, the person next to her poked her.
“Wait a minute. I’ll get it right out.”
“You look up first,” Yan Hua urged.
Ning Chun took out the tissue and looked up. Song Xiaoran was standing not far away, watching their interaction.
“She’s definitely here for you.” When she was with Ning Chun, Yan Hua’s aggressiveness wasn’t so strong. She would even tease her intentionally or unintentionally.
Maybe Ning Chun gave her too much of a sense of security, so she wasn’t afraid at all.
“Don’t talk nonsense. Maybe she’s just here to have fun.” Ning Chun’s gaze met Song Xiaoran’s, and she walked over.
Song Xiaoran had a lot she wanted to say to her, but Ning Chun wouldn’t go too far away.
They stood under a huge cherry blossom tree.
“I think you owe me an explanation.” Ning Chun didn’t give her much time and brought up what happened that night at the hotel first.
Song Xiaoran’s eyes quickly turned red. “I’m sorry. I was just blinded by a momentary infatuation. It was the same before. I wanted to be with you so badly, that’s why I kept putting pressure on you.”
Fortunately, nothing happened. Otherwise, Ning Chun wouldn’t know how to end things. It was also fortunate that Yan Hua arrived in time.
“To be honest, I’m very disappointed. You weren’t like this before.” Ning Chun looked at the tree’s shadow slowly encroaching on the ground. As time passed, the shaded area would also change.
The light part would become dark.
It showed that it was very difficult to maintain one’s original intention.
Ning Chun suppressed the disappointment in her heart. She remembered what Kan Yu told her. “You always talk about how good we were in the past and how much I liked you in college. And we’re here now.”
Song Xiaoran stopped crying. She seemed to have even forgotten to breathe. She was afraid of what Ning Chun would say next.
“People can’t live in the past forever, so let’s just leave those memories here.”
Letting go voluntarily is very painful, so Ning Chun chose to be the bad guy.
“I know what happened to you abroad, and I’ve also guessed the real reason you rejected me back then.” When she said this, Ning Chun’s emotions were very calm. She didn’t want to show any negative emotions.
She didn’t want to hurt Song Xiaoran, and she didn’t want to use these things as weapons to attack her.
The time she spent abroad was a nightmare for Song Xiaoran. She thought that if she had accepted Ning Chun’s confession back then, things would have been different.
Big tears slid down her face, one after another, hitting the ground hard.
“Xiaochun, you…” Ning Chun didn’t even look at her face. She was preparing for the worst.
Ning Chun was shocked. “I never thought that!” She continued to explain the reason. “But I won’t judge you for it.”
Song Xiaoran cried very sadly. It was painful. She said that at the time, her family’s investments had problems. If they couldn’t make up for the funds, they would be in trouble.
Her father found out that the heir of a banker had a good impression of her. He begged her to save the family overnight, even kneeling down for her.
Song Xiaoran was young at the time. Although she struggled, she gave in to the family pressure.
But she didn’t expect Ning Chun to confess to her the day after she got together with that person.
It happened so suddenly.
Song Xiaoran couldn’t bear to deceive her and could only cruelly reject her.
No one knew how much she suffered during that time. She had to pretend to be happy while being with someone else. She was not happy at all.
When she finally came back, her first love was already with someone else.
Ning Chun was shocked when she learned the details. So much had happened during that time.
Song Xiaoran asked her with teary eyes, “Did I make a mistake? If I hadn’t agreed back then, we wouldn’t be like this now.”
Ning Chun reached out and patted her shoulder, comforting her. “You didn’t do anything wrong, and you don’t need to feel guilty about it. Fate is a very subtle thing. It’s just that there’s nothing left between you and me anymore.”
Song Xiaoran’s tears seemed endless. As soon as she wiped them away, more would fall. She said, “But you’re so good. I’ll never meet anyone like you again.”
This was the first time Ning Chun had heard anyone evaluate her like this. She thought she was just an ordinary person with many shortcomings.
She found it amusing. “Then you really don’t know me. I’m very bad. Not good at all.”
Hearing this, Song Xiaoran laughed through her tears. The sad mood was interrupted. She wiped away her tears and, as if she had made up her mind, asked, “Xiaochun, can I hug you one more time? After this hug, we’ll only have a business partnership.”
Ning Chun opened her arms. “Okay. Business partners.”
Song Xiaoran leaned toward her. It wasn’t a tight hug but a very light one. She was using this way to say goodbye to the past.
Song Xiaoran decided to leave first. She didn’t want to feel sad looking at Ning Chun’s back.
Yan Hua gave them enough time and space. After the person left, she came over with her arms crossed, looking relaxed.
“Oh, the person left, but you’re still looking? Or do you want to catch up and see her off?” She teased intentionally, but Ning Chun didn’t respond.
“Okay. She and I are now business partners. We’re on equal footing.”
Yan Hua glanced at her, thinking that her identity had changed in the time it took to say a few words.
“Let’s go eat. I’m so hungry.”
That night, the two took the last flight home. When they got home, it was 2 a.m., but the house was still brightly lit.
Before Ning Chun entered the door, she said to Yan Hua, “The butler must have known we were coming back and left the lights on for us.”
As soon as she pushed open the door, a white shadow flew straight at her face. Ning Chun subconsciously raised her hand to block it and pushed Yan Hua to the side. “Watch out!”
She didn’t expect the shadow to be quite strong. It kicked Ning Chun twice, leaving a scratch on the back of her hand, and screamed, “Get hit! Get hit!”
When the thing flew to another place, Ning Chun saw the whole house. There were a lot of debris on the floor, and a few feathers were floating in the air.
The whole place looked like a battlefield.
Looking at the butler and the others, they all looked dejected and not in a good state mentally.
The previously open door was quickly closed. Ning Chun used her hand to sweep the feathers off the sofa, making a clean spot.
Just as she and Yan Hua sat down, the small thing with a crested head started to scream again, “Get hit! Get hit!”
“Who’s pet bird is this? It’s so loud, and the voice is so annoying and piercing.”
With the background noise of “get hit,” the butler also looked exhausted. She explained, “This was sent by the second young lady. She said she had already given you a heads-up.”
Ning Chun frowned, feeling irritated. “When did she give me a heads-up? How come I don’t know?”
“Just two days ago. The second young lady said she called you and you agreed.”
Ning Chun remembered. So this important guest wasn’t a person, but a thing.
It was so noisy. How could anyone rest? She waved her hand and said, “Have someone take it to the pet store tomorrow. We can’t keep this thing at home.”
The butler was first happy but then changed her expression as if she had thought of something. “The second young lady said that this bird has to be free-roaming in the house and can’t be sent outside.”
Ning Chun was about to laugh from anger. A broken bird that was so noisy that no one could rest, and it had to be free-roaming? “Call her and tell her to come and get it. Who can deal with this? It’s so noisy.”
The parrot with the red crest was now perched on the chandelier, flapping its wings and continuing to screech, “Get hit! Get hit!”
This was unbearable. Ning Chun immediately got up to catch it.
Even Yan Hua’s eyes widened. “It’s not easy to catch, is it?”
The butler also looked helpless. Ever since the parrot came in, it had been free-roaming, and no one had been able to catch it.
But Ning Chun just quietly walked up to the parrot. When it tried to fly away, she intercepted it with amazing speed. She held its wings with one hand, and the bird struggled desperately in her grip.
The butler was stunned. The young lady was too amazing. She was a hidden bird-catching expert.
The other servants, being perceptive, brought a cage. Before putting it in, Ning Chun asked for a hair tie, wrapped the bird’s beak with it, and only put it in the cage after making sure it wouldn’t make any more noise.
