The Scumbag Alpha's Redemption in a Sweet Romance - Chapter 4
Chapter 4
“It’s been a while since I’ve been here. Aren’t you going to invite me to sit down?” Ning Chun raised her eyebrows, her expression full of flirtatious charm.
When she used her beautiful face, it was her greatest weapon and very hard to resist. The “new girl” was completely unimportant. The bar owner’s heart was fluttering, and she just wanted to get Ning Chun over to her side quickly.
“Of course. I just got a few bottles of classic imported liquor. Let’s try them together.” Her hot, red lips curved into a smile of absolute certainty.
Ning Chun agreed in a heartbeat, smiling sweetly. “Whatever you say. You go and decant the wine. I’ll just grab something from the car.”
The owner was reluctant, but as she left, she gave her a playful wink. “Hmph, hurry up, or I’ll come and get you.”
Ning Chun opened the driver’s side door, tossed the car keys to Yan Hua, and rummaged through her bag. “Lock the door. Don’t get out until I get back.”
“What are you doing?” Yan Hua urgently asked.
She found it—a square, red velvet box containing a diamond-encrusted watch worth over 300,000 yuan. Ning Chun had grabbed it on her way out this morning, and it had finally come in handy.
“Can’t you tell? I’m going to go pursue her.” Ning Chun deliberately teased her.
Yan Hua’s face instantly changed, and a chill ran down her spine. “Fine. When you come back, we’re getting a divorce.”
The joke went too far. Ning Chun’s mischievous expression vanished. She ruffled Yan Hua’s hair. “You have to bring gifts when you ask someone for a favor. Your sister is very likely here. Don’t get out of the car. Stay safe.”
Yan Hua wanted to ask more, but Ning Chun had already closed the door and locked it. Yan Hua also made sure to lock herself in, trying to avoid contact with the outside world as much as possible.
A glass of champagne with something extra was placed in front of Ning Chun. “A little appetizer. I have something even better for you later,” the owner said. She had changed into a rose-red bodycon dress that showed off her voluptuous figure.
Ning Chun smiled without a word and pushed the champagne away. The owner’s face fell, but it immediately lit up when she saw the gift box Ning Chun pulled out.
“When did you learn to bring gifts? You used to just order the most expensive bottles of wine. Why are you so considerate today?” The owner’s small, fragrant fist playfully punched Ning Chun’s chest. Ning Chun’s breath hitched. The scent was so overpowering it made her feel nauseous.
When the box was opened, the owner gasped. The sparkling diamonds covered the entire watch face, looking extremely luxurious. The owner extended her delicate hand and slightly lifted her chin, asking Ning Chun to put it on for her. Ning Chun did as she was told.
“How is it? Are you satisfied?”
“More than satisfied. I’m ecstatic.” The owner wanted to stick to her like glue.
Ning Chun swirled the wine in her glass and suddenly sighed, losing most of her interest.
“What’s wrong, CEO Ning? Why the sudden sigh?” A soft, boneless arm wrapped around her shoulder. The busy staff members were all stunned. They had never seen their boss act so eagerly before.
“I have a troublesome matter.” Ning Chun hooked her index finger under the owner’s pointed chin. “Only you can help me. It’s not convenient here. How about we go to a private room?”
If the owner didn’t understand the implication, she wouldn’t be able to run a business. The two exchanged a knowing smile and quickly went to the most secluded private room on the second floor.
Ning Chun sat on the sofa. The flirty, romantic atmosphere from before was gone, as if it were a hallucination. This time, the owner hugged her, eager to get things done, but Ning Chun gently pushed her away.
In the owner’s confused eyes, Ning Chun smiled eerily. “I gave you a gift. Shouldn’t you give me one in return?”
The atmosphere shifted. The private room was filled with an invisible pressure. The owner understood instantly. Ning Chun wasn’t here for fun; she was here for business.
“This whole street is under your control. You should know where that underground group that conducts illegal pharmaceutical experiments is.”
The owner played with her hair, resting her chin on her hand. She acted ignorant, her voice soft. “What does that have to do with me? I just collect rent. I don’t get involved with anything else.”
“They took my sister. If you don’t tell me, I’ll make sure you can’t even collect rent.” Ning Chun smiled faintly, her words full of threats.
The owner felt a chill. She had always thought Ning Chun was a useless playboy who only knew how to party. She had never seen this ruthless side of her, and she didn’t know her true strength. But the oppressive force she felt was far beyond what a C-rank Alpha should possess. Ning Chun was much stronger than she had imagined.
In the few seconds she hesitated, Ning Chun slowly raised her hand and wiggled her fingers. The owner immediately felt as if someone was firmly gripping her neck. Ning Chun wasn’t joking. She was serious. The power was so eerie.
Faced with a rising terror, the feeling of suffocation came quickly. Just as she was about to die, the grip suddenly released, and air rushed back into her lungs. Ning Chun believed she was being very polite. After all, she had tried the carrot before the stick.
“So, can you give me my gift in return now?”
The owner took a long time to catch her breath. She was a businesswoman; she played for money, not with her life. Given the situation, she knew not to be foolish.
Soon, a slip of paper with an address was placed in Ning Chun’s hand. She glanced at it and smiled lightly. “I like this gift very much.”
Before she left, she looked at the still-shaking owner on the sofa and gave her a final instruction: “Remember to keep today’s matter a secret.”
Ning Chun felt that something was wrong as soon as she walked out of the bar. When she looked inside the car, Yan Hua was gone. This place was a mixed bag, and she didn’t dare to think about what accident Yan Hua might have run into.
Ning Chun searched almost the entire Riverbank Bar Street. Finally, a dirty child held out a hand to her. “A thousand yuan, and I’ll take you to her.”
“Do you know who I’m looking for?”
“The woman who got out of that car. I saw her.” The little beggar pointed at Ning Chun’s car.
Finally, led by the child, Ning Chun found an unconscious Yan Hua in a deserted alley. She was fine, with no injuries, but there was a clear needle mark on her scent gland. Ning Chun almost laughed in frustration. How despicable and vile. Nothing but scum.
Seeing the pheromone concentration in the air getting stronger, with the scent of jasmine growing more intense, she took off her coat and wrapped it around Yan Hua. She was lucky to have arrived in time; she didn’t dare to imagine what would have happened otherwise.
She secured Yan Hua in the passenger seat, then rummaged through the car for some pheromone inhibitor patches and put them on Yan Hua’s gland. Afraid that one wouldn’t be enough, she put on three or four. Once everything was ready, she drove to the hospital.
The nearest hospital was at least half an hour away. Ning Chun floored the gas pedal, and the car shot forward like an arrow. But no matter how fast she drove, she couldn’t stop the drug’s effect.
To prevent any sudden occurrences, Ning Chun tied a knot in her coat wrapped around Yan Hua to keep her from moving around.
The drug’s effect grew stronger, and Ning Chun watched as Yan Hua’s pale face became a fiery red, so red it looked like it could drip bl00d.
“Hey, calm down. It’s the drug acting up, not what you really want.”
This is insane. Ning Chun was actually trying to reason with her at a time like this. Yan Hua was squirming in her seat, occasionally letting out a soft, seductive moan.
Ning Chun didn’t dare to look at her directly, pretending to be a model of abstinence and focusing only on driving. Her eyes were fixed on the road ahead.
At some point, a soft hand grabbed her arm. Ning Chun looked over and saw that Yan Hua had somehow managed to break free from the coat and her seatbelt. Her collar was loose, and with just a little effort, one could see her body. The scent gland on the back of her neck was a tempting shade of pink, releasing jasmine pheromones without restraint.
The inhibitor patches were gone!
Ning Chun was shocked. She tried to push her back, but it had no effect. She even used her conscious manipulation. But even more horrifying, it didn’t work on Yan Hua.
After a few struggles, the Rolls-Royce pulled into the hospital’s underground parking lot. Before the car had even stopped, Yan Hua was clinging to her, using her hands and feet. Ning Chun struggled to pull out the car keys. Yan Hua’s fuzzy head was buried in the side of her neck, completely lost in a state of lust.
Ning Chun used both hands to grab her waist, preparing to pull her off, but her body went limp before she could even act.
Her amber eyes widened reflexively. Yan Hua had left a searing hot kiss on the side of her neck, so hot that it made her entire body tremble. It felt as if a warm sensation was radiating from that spot, spreading throughout her body. It was a wonderful feeling.
Ning Chun had never been in a relationship or had any intimate contact. She had never known that intimate touch could feel like this. It was very comfortable and very addictive.
But soon, she didn’t think so anymore, because Yan Hua bit her hard on the neck.
“Ouch! Be gentle!” The pain made her sober up. Ning Chun put an inhibitor patch on her and held Yan Hua’s hands, making her way to the hospital.
Ten minutes later, Ning Chun was sitting in front of the doctor, holding the woman squirming restlessly in her arms, a bitter smile on her face. The doctor asked curiously, “What is your relationship with the patient?”
“Spouses. We just got married.”
Five hours ago.
“Then it’s simple. You can treat her by marking her. You don’t have to go through all this trouble and waste hospital resources. We’re very busy.”
Ning Chun didn’t move. She couldn’t do that. It would be taking advantage of her, and it would only make her relationship with Yan Hua worse.
“Doctor, to be honest, we just had a fight. If I do that, she’ll definitely divorce me, so…” She couldn’t bring herself to say the embarrassing truth that their compatibility was too low. In theory, as long as their compatibility wasn’t zero, marking could have a calming effect, even if a full mark wasn’t possible.
The doctor adjusted his glasses and looked at Ning Chun with confusion and helplessness. He gave her the medical facts. “Drug treatment takes a long time and has some side effects on the body. There’s also a chance of long-term consequences, and the patient will need to be hospitalized. Are you sure?”
In the end, due to Ning Chun’s insistence, the doctor provided a treatment plan. To ensure Yan Hua had no other injuries, she also bought the most expensive check-up package and a private room.
Ning Chun sat on a bench in the hospital hallway, the air filled with the smell of disinfectant. If she was right, the underground group would use this time to change locations, and it would be much harder to find them again.
As she was lost in thought, a curious voice sounded in front of her. “Cousin, what are you doing here?”
Ning Chun looked up. It was a young girl with a ponytail. This time, she was smarter and pulled up the information from the system directly. The person’s name was Kan Yu, her maternal aunt’s daughter, and they were quite close. This closeness was shown through activities like smoking, drinking, karaoke, and drag racing together.
“Xiaoyu, what are you doing here?” Ning Chun answered with a question, a habit she was fond of.
Kan Yu clicked her tongue. “I’m a postgraduate intern. I’m assigned to the city hospital.” Ning Chun then saw the white lab coat she was wearing and the new badge hanging from her chest. Her pockets held two pens. She was a medical student.
“You still haven’t answered me, cousin. What are you doing in the Pheromone Secretion department?” She glanced at the department’s sign with a gossipy look. This place was always a bit intimate.
“Ahem, your sister-in-law, she’s not feeling well. I brought her for a check-up.”
Kan Yu rubbed her chin, looking at Ning Chun meaningfully. “A check-up, huh? You just got married, and you’re already in such a hurry to have a child?”
Ning Chun’s heart relaxed at her words. She was grateful to her cousin for giving her an out.
“Oh, you know me. Just don’t tell anyone.” Ning Chun pulled her down to sit. “But how did you know I got married?”
“My aunt called this morning and told me. She’s not happy with your sister-in-law at all.” Kan Yu leaned in to gossip. “Cousin, do you like this sister-in-law? You used to just have fun. You never brought anyone home. Or are you just using her to annoy my aunt until your true love comes back?”
Ning Chun propped her chin on her hand. She was calm on the surface, but her mind was in turmoil. A true love?! What a melodramatic plot point.
“You guessed right,” Ning Chun said, thinking it over and going along with the conversation.
Unbeknownst to them, Yan Hua, who had just regained consciousness, was standing behind the half-open door. The flowing wind carried Ning Chun’s words to her ears with perfect clarity.
