The Scumbag Who Bowed for Money (GL , ABO) - Chapter 10
It was clear that Le Shi really liked that bouquet of flowers. Xie Yuanwei briefly considered planting some roses, but then remembered this was Le Shi’s home. She decided to give up the idea. The ever-busy President Le seemed to be preparing for a business trip…
After asking the question, Xie Yuanwei waited quietly. Le Shi didn’t answer for a long time. She was a patient person, with more than enough time to wait.
“Xie Yuanwei.”
“Hmm?”
Xie Yuanwei responded immediately, her eyes full of anticipation. Le Shi looked at her and asked,
“Why are you treating me like this?”
The alpha didn’t understand.
“What do you mean?”
Le Shi spoke again in a softer voice.
“Why are you so good to me?”
“Am I?” Xie Yuanwei was truly caught off guard this time. She took a deep breath, stood up to get the first aid kit, found the red flower oil, and checked the expiration date. Once she confirmed it was still good, she crouched back down and gently placed Le Shi’s leg over her lap.
The omega hesitated.
“I can do it myself.”
Xie Yuanwei gently pushed her leg back.
“It’s fine. It’s easy enough. Let’s talk while I do this.”
“You asked me why I’m good to you. That question is really…” She poured some oil into her palm, rubbed her hands together, and pressed gently on the swollen area.
“This might sting a little. Try to bear it.”
She didn’t look up. Her eyes remained fixed on what she was doing.
“To be honest, I don’t think what I’m doing even counts as being good. If cooking for you already makes you feel that way, then you’re too easily satisfied. A lot of things come down to mutual willingness. I want to do this, and you’re fine with accepting it. There’s no need to overthink it. There’s nothing especially touching about it.”
“I made food and saved a portion for myself. I didn’t lose anything. Besides, Le Shi, think about it. I’m from the Xie family. I live in your house, eat your food, work at your company, and I hardly even do anything. I slack off most of the time. Isn’t that just taking free money? You’re the one supporting me. You’re my sponsor. What are you afraid of? You should be the one holding all the cards.”
Xie Yuanwei paused for a moment, then looked up seriously.
“Whatever you want me to do, I’ll do my best to make it happen.”
Le Shi frowned slightly. She seemed unable to understand.
“But I approached you because I wanted your pheromones.”
“What does that have to do with any of this? It’s not like you paid me for my pheromones. Le Shi…”
Xie Yuanwei gave a helpless smile. She always looked like she was smiling when she spoke to Le Shi.
“I honestly think you’re wonderful. From the first moment I saw you, or more accurately, the time we met at the hotel, I thought you were adorable. I felt like I wanted to be close to you. I wanted to do something for you. But I don’t think that counts as being good either.”
“It’s only been a few meals. I’ve only been here a few days. If this already moves you so much, what happens if I stay longer? Are you going to get so attached you can’t leave me?”
Le Shi couldn’t help but laugh. She sniffed and leaned back into the sofa, moving her leg slightly.
“I want noodles.”
“Okay.”
“And I want two fried eggs with it.”
Xie Yuanwei nodded without hesitation.
“Okay.”
She finished applying the medicine, put the oil back into the kit, and stood up. Her voice sounded a bit muffled as she turned her back to Le Shi.
“Wait here. I’ll be back soon.”
Le Shi sat on the sofa, one leg bent. Her arms crossed casually as she rested her head against them.
She gave a soft hum of acknowledgment.
Xie Yuanwei soon brought over two bowls of noodles. She set them down on the coffee table and handed Le Shi a pair of chopsticks.
“Try it. Tell me if it tastes good.”
Apparently, the omega really was hungry. She took one bite and said,
“Not bad.”
Then she lowered her head and focused on eating.
The steam from the hot noodles slowly drifted upward, filling the room with a quiet, comforting warmth.
“When you finish, take a shower. I’ll check your ankle again afterward.”
Xie Yuanwei carried the dirty dishes into the kitchen. Her voice echoed faintly from a distance.
“Be careful going upstairs. I’ll come up after I finish cleaning.”
Le Shi didn’t protest. She limped up the stairs slowly. Behind her was the soft sound of running water and an unclear, low hum of singing.
She pressed her lips together but didn’t stop walking. She kept going, one step at a time.
After cleaning the kitchen, Xie Yuanwei also swept the floor. By the time she returned to the bedroom, Le Shi had already fallen asleep. The alpha peeked inside and saw that her hair was still wet.
“What am I supposed to say to you?”
Xie Yuanwei said nothing more. She walked over, gently pulled up the thin blanket to cover her, then went to take a shower herself. It was almost eleven by the time she finally lay down.
She slipped into bed as carefully as she could, afraid of waking Le Shi. But the moment she settled under the blanket, the omega mumbled,
“Are you done?”
“Did I wake you?”
Xie Yuanwei whispered softly.
“Go to sleep. It’s late.”
Le Shi barely opened her eyes. After a few quiet breaths, she spoke again.
“I wasn’t fully asleep.”
Her voice was much softer now, sounding both drowsy and delicate.
“Next time, dry your hair before sleeping.”
Le Shi gave a quiet, raspy laugh and rolled over to face away from her.
“You’re so naggy.”
“I’m not nagging. Sleeping with wet hair makes it easier for dampness to get into your system. It’s not good for your health.”
Although Le Shi didn’t respond, Xie Yuanwei could clearly hear her calm, steady breathing. It was enough to tell her that the omega had already fallen asleep.
Xie Yuanwei smiled quietly and said,
“Good night.”
They shared the bed that night, sleeping side by side.
The next morning, Xie Yuanwei woke up first. She found herself lying on her side, holding Le Shi in her arms. The omega had a habit of curling up in her sleep and had tucked herself neatly into Xie Yuanwei’s embrace.
For a few moments, Xie Yuanwei actually considered pulling her away, worried that she might be smothering Le Shi with how tightly she was held.
“It’s six o’clock,” she murmured softly to herself, silently praising her own perfect timing.
She gently pulled down the blanket, revealing Le Shi’s slightly flushed, sleeping face. She lowered her voice and said,
“What kind of sleeping habit is this…”
Just as she was about to get out of bed, Le Shi’s drowsy voice stopped her.
“Xie Yuanwei, I heard you talking bad about me.”
“You must have imagined it,” Xie Yuanwei answered without hesitation.
She turned back to look at Le Shi, who was still half-asleep, and softened her voice.
“It’s still early. Get some more rest. I’ll go downstairs and make breakfast.”
Le Shi, eyes barely open, heard her and quietly pulled the blanket over her head again. Within seconds, she had fallen back asleep.
Xie Yuanwei stood frozen for a moment, then smiled and quickly went to wash up before heading downstairs.
She had already figured out that Le Shi didn’t really enjoy plain food. She preferred fried eggs and food with a bit more flavor.
“Looks like it’s going to be another rainy day,” Xie Yuanwei said to herself as she packed up lunch.
While she was still in the kitchen, Le Shi came downstairs. The omega leaned quietly against the kitchen’s sliding door, standing there without saying anything as she waited to be served.
Xie Yuanwei took out a few steamed buns, then poured a glass of freshly blended soy milk and smiled.
“Fried eggs, steamed buns, and soy milk. Breakfast is ready, President Le.”
Le Shi gave her a quick glance, picked up the tray, and sat down at the dining table. She began to eat with a satisfied expression and even gave her a rare compliment.
“This is good. Keep up the good work.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Xie Yuanwei answered cheerfully.
They left the house just before eight o’clock and arrived at the company right on time. The entire morning passed without much interaction between them. They didn’t even exchange a single message.
By noon, Xie Yuanwei was already thinking about heading to the cafeteria when she finally received a text from Le Shi.
“Come upstairs and eat with me. I ordered takeout.”
Xie Yuanwei muttered to herself in a playful tone,
“You ordered takeout? After I made food too?”
As she pushed open the office door, a sudden realization hit her. The omega needed her alpha’s pheromones.
That faint bitter peach scent in the air said everything. Le Shi was clearly displeased.
Xie Yuanwei walked over, opened the containers, and sat beside her. She didn’t say anything, though her eyes briefly fell on the roses standing tall in a vase nearby.
It was Le Shi who finally spoke.
“I have a business trip tomorrow. You’re coming with me. Just the two of us. You’ll be my assistant for the day. If you don’t do well, I’ll fire you.”
Xie Yuanwei blinked a few times, clearly caught off guard.
“…What?”
