The Scumbag Who Bowed for Money (GL , ABO) - Chapter 2
Xie Yuanwei froze. In her life so far, she had very little experience when it came to emotions and intimacy. She touched the spot on her face where Le Shi had kissed her and murmured,
“How could you kiss me?”
Wait. That wasn’t the important part.
She raised her hand, trying to steady her voice.
“Why did you handcuff me?”
This kind of forced affection was flustering for any alpha.
Le Shi stood up. She had already taken off her shoes, and the curve of her bare ankle was surprisingly elegant. She poured a glass of water and handed it to Xie Yuanwei.
“I just didn’t want you to run away.”
She lowered her gaze.
“Not thirsty? Then I’ll drink it.”
Xie Yuanwei had just reached out for the glass but awkwardly pulled her hand back. She blinked, trying not to look too pitiful. Honestly, even if Le Shi hadn’t cuffed her, she wouldn’t have dared to run.
Besides, the carpet looked way too expensive to ruin with panic.
“You’re not wearing shoes. Aren’t you worried you’ll catch a cold?” she asked with a weak smile. As soon as Le Shi looked her way, Xie Yuanwei quickly turned her head and muttered,
“The weather’s been damp lately.”
Le Shi stared at her for a few seconds. Just as Xie Yuanwei was overthinking everything, the omega quietly stepped aside and slipped her shoes back on.
Xie Yuanwei was stunned, then slowly turned her head away. She bit her lip and held back the words that almost slipped out.
Le Shi was really adorable.
Her expression was calm. She had been drinking water just moments ago, but because of something Xie Yuanwei said, she actually went and put on her shoes. Then she just looked at her silently.
Le Shi didn’t have what you’d call a cute face, but her actions always seemed to strike Xie Yuanwei in exactly the right spot. And her scent really was intoxicating.
Xie Yuanwei’s eyes watered a little. Why could she still smell her pheromones even with a suppressant patch?
“Have you eaten?”
Le Shi asked suddenly. She pulled over a chair, then found it uncomfortable and simply sat on the floor.
This room had clearly been cleared out beforehand. Aside from a single table and one chair, there was nothing else.
Xie Yuanwei suddenly remembered the food she had ordered. She panicked and blurted out,
“I ordered takeout, but I haven’t eaten yet. I just… got brought back before I could. Haha.”
She gave a forced laugh and added with a pleading tone,
“My food is still at the hotel. Can I have my phone back?”
Le Shi didn’t answer right away. Instead, she questioned her.
“Xie Yuanwei, you changed how you address me.”
Xie Yuanwei’s smile disappeared. Her brain scrambled to remember how the original character referred to Le Shi in the book. Something with Shi… What was it again?
“Ah Shi,” Le Shi offered kindly, finishing it for her. “Why the sudden switch to something so distant?”
She asked casually, but Xie Yuanwei broke into a cold sweat.
She pressed her lips together and forced out an explanation.
“I did something wrong. I feel guilty and unworthy of you.”
She cautiously glanced at Le Shi. The omega took a sip of water, seemingly unfazed. Her lips glistened slightly, and her gaze narrowed as she looked back.
“Xie Yuanwei, your words don’t hold much weight with me.”
Xie Yuanwei nodded repeatedly. She knew exactly what kind of person she had replaced.
Just as she was mourning her lost takeout, Le Shi pulled out her phone and waved it in front of her.
“Let’s talk.”
Xie Yuanwei replied immediately.
“Yes. Let’s talk.”
Le Shi seemed pleased with her attitude. She gave a soft hum of approval.
“I won’t cancel the engagement. But considering your past behavior, I’m extending the probation period.”
“Got it.”
Xie Yuanwei answered without hesitation. But when she noticed Le Shi’s expression shift, she quickly corrected herself.
“I mean… understood.”
Le Shi continued.
“I’m not upset about you running away this time. It wasn’t a large amount of money. You can keep it. But next time, the consequences will be very different.”
Xie Yuanwei nodded quickly.
“I understand. Completely.”
“And you’ll need to cooperate with certain requests. I’ll compensate you accordingly.”
Xie Yuanwei’s eyes lit up. She cleared her throat and replied,
“Whatever you say, I’ll treat it like a royal decree.”
Le Shi nodded in satisfaction.
“Alright then. Unlock your phone. After I confirm everything, I’ll have someone take care of your food.”
Xie Yuanwei grinned and stretched out her left hand, but realized it was still cuffed. She asked hesitantly,
“Could you unlock this?”
“No.”
Le Shi refused without hesitation.
Xie Yuanwei accepted her fate. She took the phone and unlocked the screen, then immediately turned the display toward Le Shi.
“See? I really did order it.”
Le Shi moved behind her and leaned in to look. She seemed convinced by the order confirmation, but before Xie Yuanwei could exit the screen, a message popped up right in front of both of them.
[President Xie, let’s have some fun tonight.]
Xie Yuanwei’s face went pale. She glanced at Le Shi, then immediately deleted the message and the contact. Without hesitation, and with Le Shi watching, she removed every person on her contact list who had ever flirted with her.
“Would you like to double-check?”
Xie Yuanwei asked carefully, inching the phone toward her.
Le Shi looked down at her and took the phone. She tucked it into her pocket and stood up.
“Not interested.”
“What?”
Xie Yuanwei stared, completely lost. She furrowed her brow.
“So… I still can’t use my phone?”
She collapsed dramatically onto the carpet, staring up at the ceiling.
“This is going to be so boring I might die.”
Xie Yuanwei had slept the whole morning. Someone came in briefly to deliver a meal, but they left without saying anything. She didn’t even get a chance to ask questions. Left alone again, she sat on the floor, absentmindedly tugging at the carpet fibers, bored out of her mind.
The sunlight coming in through the window behind her grew dimmer by the hour. For the first time, she felt the passing of time. Sitting cross-legged, she listened to someone mention that Le Shi had gone to the company and would probably return later in the evening.
So the alpha waited obediently for Le Shi to come back, even though her eyelids were getting heavier.
“Feeling sleepy?”
The voice startled her. Her body jolted slightly as she woke up, her eyes still foggy with sleep. But when she saw who had spoken, her eyes lit up.
“You’re back!”
Le Shi paused for a moment, surprised by her reaction.
“You were waiting for me?”
Xie Yuanwei nodded twice and smiled shyly.
“I wanted to ask if I could change rooms. This one isn’t very comfortable. I’ve been lying here all day, and it feels a bit stiff.”
Le Shi went quiet for a second, then walked over and unlocked the handcuffs on her wrist. She glanced at her briefly and said,
“Come on. I’ll take you to another room.”
Xie Yuanwei immediately perked up. Thinking back, it seemed like Le Shi had planned to do this from the beginning. She still didn’t understand why Le Shi insisted on keeping the engagement or bringing her home in the first place. But she had food and a place to stay, so life wasn’t so bad.
Le Shi had changed clothes. She carried her blazer draped over one arm, and the top button of her shirt was undone. Her collarbone was faintly visible beneath the white fabric. Her skin was very pale, almost icy in tone.
Her legs were long and well-shaped. Every step she took was graceful. When she glanced to the side, her eyes met Xie Yuanwei’s without hesitation.
“What are you staring at?”
Xie Yuanwei answered honestly.
“I’m looking at you, President Le.”
Le Shi paused again, her voice caught in her throat for a second. She made a small sound in her nose, then walked a little faster without replying.
“You’ll sleep here from now on. Go take a shower. Your pajamas are already prepared inside.”
Xie Yuanwei looked around the new room. It was spacious, and the bed looked soft and comfortable. There was a desk with several hamster plushies in different positions, along with a vanity. It didn’t look like a room that had just been prepared.
But she didn’t dare ask. She went straight to the bathroom, and soon the sound of water running could be heard from inside.
Le Shi stood in front of the bathroom door for a few seconds, then licked her lips and lowered her eyes, hiding her exhaustion. She walked over to the desk, dimmed the lights, and rested her head on her arms. As soon as she closed her eyes, she fell into a deep sleep.
When Xie Yuanwei stepped out, the first thing she saw was Le Shi sleeping at the desk. Half of her face was tucked into her arms, and her lips were slightly pursed from the pressure.
She looked much softer like this, far less distant than usual.
“President Le?”
Xie Yuanwei gently patted her shoulder.
“You should sleep in the bed.”
Le Shi slowly opened her eyes, still groggy. She made a soft sound in response and sat up. Her gaze was unfocused as she looked up at Xie Yuanwei for a few seconds, then she gradually came back to her senses.
“You finished showering?”
“Yes.”
Le Shi nodded, then quietly gathered her own sleepwear and headed into the bathroom.
It was only then that Xie Yuanwei realized something. This room might actually be Le Shi’s bedroom.
That realization sent a wave of awkwardness through her. Even though they were both women, alphas and omegas were biologically different. Sharing a bed made her feel embarrassed.
Although she still hadn’t completely adapted to this world, the discomfort was there.
She shifted her weight and sat at the edge of the bed, nervously rubbing her hands on her knees while waiting.
Le Shi didn’t take long. She walked out while drying her hair with a towel. Her makeup had been removed, and her sleepwear was a loose pullover with a wide neckline. It was just slightly too big and seemed to slip toward her shoulder with every step.
Her hair was still damp, leaving wet patches on the fabric, but she didn’t seem to mind. She didn’t even glance at Xie Yuanwei. Standing in the warm light, she looked surprisingly gentle and relaxed.
“You’re not going to dry your hair?”
Xie Yuanwei hadn’t meant to ask that. She had wanted to ask whether they were really going to sleep in the same bed.
But seeing Le Shi about to lie down with wet hair made her speak up.
Before Le Shi could answer, Xie Yuanwei ran into the bathroom, grabbed the hair dryer, plugged it in, and gently pulled the confused omega over to sit on the edge of the bed.
“Come here. I’ll dry your hair.”
She turned on the dryer and tested the temperature carefully. When she saw that Le Shi didn’t resist, she became a bit bolder.
“President Le, I hope I’m not crossing a line, but sleeping with wet hair can give you a headache. Plus, the bed will get all wet. It’s really better to dry it.”
She kept talking, trying to calm her nerves and avoid upsetting the omega. Le Shi sat silently the whole time, listening. But eventually, she had enough.
She grabbed Xie Yuanwei’s wrist, turned off the dryer, and unplugged it. Then she leaned in and pushed her onto the bed. Climbing on top of her, she pinned Xie Yuanwei down.
Her legs pressed firmly against the lower part of Xie Yuanwei’s stomach. Le Shi took a deep breath, her voice muffled and low.
“Are you going to sleep or not?”
Xie Yuanwei blinked. Then she nodded quickly.
“Yes, we’re sleeping.”
