The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 10
Chapter 10: Conclusion
The deeply lodged hand axe appeared in my field of vision. The moment I exerted strength to pull the hand axe from the armor…
The ground beneath me turned into a black swamp, and numerous swords shot out.
“What the!?”
Using the wind to retreat, I blocked the sword threatening my throat with my hand axe. However, the power of the sword was too great, and it blew me away, leaving cracks on the blade I used to defend.
Boss Mail picked up one of the swords it had conjured, and with one arm, swung a greatsword that was nearly double the width of the previous one and as tall as itself.
“Just making a hole in its stomach won’t kill it…”
Moreover, it had switched to the greatsword to avoid being deflected like before. With a blade of that size, there was no way to deflect its attacks, and since my hand axe had already shown signs of wear and tear, I was at an even greater disadvantage.
Boss Mail readied the greatsword and steadily advanced towards me. I immediately sidestepped, but the sword pressure generated from its attack brushed against me, causing me to break into a cold sweat.
The greatsword swung again. Unlike the sharp and swift attacks from before, this one was heavy and massive. While I could avoid it, I realized that attempting to block or deflect the sword pressure would lead to the entire defense being cleaved.
(But…)
A black mud-like substance overflowed from the hole in its abdomen. The previous blow couldn’t be ignored. It hadn’t shown any sign of using magic and its movements had become straightforward.
Even so, my legs were still moving, strength remained in my fingers, and my thoughts were clear. A smile spread across my entire body, communicating that I could still fight.
I sheathed my hand axe and gripped the small dagger with both hands. Boss Mail mirrored the stance, and after a brief moment, we both moved simultaneously.
I evaded the oncoming greatsword by slicing through the air. I attempted to slash at its abdomen with the small dagger, but it defended with its gauntlet. I jumped back to evade its kicked leg, and when the greatsword swung towards me, I deliberately moved forward to deflect the attack before it gained momentum.
“Haha! You’re strong!”
Every time I deflected Boss Mail’s onslaught of sword strikes, my focus sharpened. Unnecessary thoughts were stripped away, and my mental processes accelerated. I dodged the incoming fatal strikes and executed the right weapons and techniques.
(Faster! Stronger! More!!)
With wind enveloping me, I attacked Boss Mail’s right wrist. Its joints seemed to heal faster than the rest, but they were also more fragile.
The moment Boss Mail swept the greatsword, I dropped to the ground and avoided it, then used my body’s coiled energy to spring up and slash upwards. My precise strike aimed for the gap in its armor, severing its left arm from the elbow.
“―――――――Agh!!!”
Boss Mail’s cry seemed to resound as it tackled me, sending me flying. Regaining my balance upon landing, I saw Boss Mail swing the greatsword once again.
“Ugh…!”
I struck the greatsword from below with the small dagger, deflecting its trajectory. The impact caused the small dagger to slip from my hand and shatter as shards scattered on the ground.
Boss Mail raised the greatsword into an upper stance. Even though my small dagger was deflected and shattered, I remained in the position to block. Just as it held its sword as if waiting for the perfect moment to strike…
(Now!)
Just before the greatsword came crashing down, I swiftly pulled the hand axe from my left hand and slammed it against Boss Mail’s right wrist. I swung it, feeling the blade break through the handle, and just as the blade shattered, Boss Mail’s right wrist, along with the greatsword, flew through the air.
“‘Wind Step’!”
Using all the wind at my disposal, I leaped into the air and caught the falling greatsword. Infusing the last of my remaining magic into enhancing my body, I swung the incredibly heavy greatsword down with a shout.
“This is the end!!!”
The sound of the greatsword cleaving the ground reverberated. In front of me, the once formidable Boss Mail had been split in half vertically.
…Migoto.
I felt like I heard that voice in my head. But before I could process it, Boss Mail’s form crumbled like black sand. However, the disintegrated form seemed to approach me as if it had a will of its own.
Though I tensed, expecting another attack, it all converged into its hand and the greatsword. The situation shrouded in black smoke was short-lived. As the smoke cleared, the greatsword in its hand had transformed into a pitch-black small dagger and hand axe.
“Chaos… Crusader?”
As I muttered the voice that echoed in my mind, a sensation flowed into my entire body. It felt like my consciousness was slipping away. In addition to depleting most of my magic and the string of tension that had kept me on edge, I realized my limits had finally been reached, as if it were someone else’s problem.
Just before losing consciousness, I thought I heard a woman’s voice…
