The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 106
Chapter 106: Entrusted Will (Ganza’s Side)
“Ganza-san!?”
What pierced through Ganza was a tail covered in ominous scales. At the tip of the tail was a needle-like stake dyed in purple, impaling Ganza and leaving him hanging in the air.
Emerging from Fifths’ shadow was a colossal lizard-like monster. It had brilliantly colored scales, six sharp claws, and a crocodile-like head with four eyes and sharp teeth growing without gaps.
A Basilisk – magical creatures known as the kings of snakes. While there are tales of venomous snake kings, the one before them was far larger and more ominous than the accounts.
“Well, well… Releasing this after such a wound was unexpected.”
Muttering as he stood up, Fifths took out a bottle from his pocket and drank its contents in one gulp. The fatal wound on his shoulder swelled and healed as if the flesh were inflating.
“With this, my body has reached its limit. Be it a human or a beast, when cornered, we all bare our fangs, don’t we?”
Checking his left arm, Fifths looked up at Ganza. Rakul rushed to intervene, but Shadow Stalkers repeatedly appeared, blocking her path.
“Congratulations. Thanks to you, my life now has less than an hour remaining. As a reward, enjoy my specially crafted Basilisk, which will poison your entire village.”
“Kisa…ma…”
“Now, I have something to attend to. If possible, I’d like to finish off someone who needs to be dealt with.”
Leaving these words behind, Fifths sank into the shadows. Immediately after, the Basilisk opened its jaws, exposing the inside.
A long, slender tongue, like a red snake, extended from its mouth with countless fangs. Four of them pierced through Ganza’s shoulder and leg, slicing through the air.
“Ganza-san!”
Attempting to break through the encirclement and run to Ganza’s aid, Shadow Stalkers emerged from below, swinging their arm-like stakes…
“Huh!?”
A Zamma pierced through the air, right in front of Rakul. Not only did it pierce the approaching Shadow Stalker, but it also scattered the surrounding ones.
“Rakul, I entrust Zamma to you!”
“W-What are you saying!?”
“I’ve reached my limit here. It’s regrettable that I can’t defeat him, but I can’t let you lose your future as well.”
“I’ll save you now! So, please don’t say that!”
As the Basilisk attempted to retract its tail, Ganza, using his remaining strength, restrained it. He looked at Rakul. Even at this moment, as she was about to rush to his aid, he felt relief.
“Rakul! Don’t forget! No matter how difficult and painful the path you walk, no matter what obstacles you face! Unwavering determination to uphold your strong will! That is the only qualification to wield Zamma!”
“Strong… will.”
As his strength dwindled, the tail was pulled out. The tongue moved, and the Basilisk’s jaws opened to the limit. Yet, until the end, Ganza left words for Rakul.
“I’m glad I could meet you. Farewell, Rakul.”
The Basilisk’s jaws closed, and blood splattered, wetting the Basilisk’s head…
