The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 141
Chapter 141: Hermit’s Final Destination
The place we arrived at with Eilsied’s guidance was a dense forest. Among the variously shaped trees that branched out, there were several paths resembling roads, but these paths constantly changed with time, and the trees also changed gradually, making it impossible to leave without precautions.
Fools who ventured deep would wander forever, while only the wise who knew when to retreat could reap the benefits… That was the dungeon known as the “Hermit’s Final Destination.”
“This is actually my first time coming here.”
“It’s okay. I’ll guide you, so you don’t need to worry about that.”
Shurin murmured as she looked up at the forest, then glanced at the magic stone in my hand. After dividing food and supplies between us, we stepped into the forest under Shurin’s guidance.
Normally, entering without expensive magical tools or being one of the top scouts in the Magic Continent would be suicidal, but Shurin walked forward without hesitation.
“…How do you navigate through this?”
“Well… because the wind and the plants tell me?”
Shurin answered, tilting her head at my question, but I wondered why there was a question mark at the end.
“Elves can sense subtle magic that is normally undetectable. With their keen senses, they can perceive the flow of atmosphere and surrounding magic.”
“Are you constantly using resonance detection… no, something beyond that?”
“Yes, and even if the dungeon is vast and constantly changing its shape, Shurin can sense the flow of magic towards its center.”
“…Impressive.”
“Yes, if it were to be revealed, adventurers would flock to scout her talents…”
Dungeons always change. For high-ranking adventurers, the fact that the structure changes every time they dive in is their biggest concern. Whatever the method, considerable effort and resources must be invested.
With Shurin, these resources could be minimized. High-ranking adventurers would understand just how exceptional her abilities were.
“Stop.”
As we walked, Shurin held up Eilsied and sensed the presence of monsters approaching us.
“Two Mad Apes.”
Mad Apes were among the stronger monsters that appeared in the forest. With their unmatched strength, their attacks unleashed from their extraordinary arm strength would turn an ordinary person into a lump of flesh with a single blow.
“It’s okay.”
As I prepared to counter with my sword, Shurin stopped us.
Pulling out two seeds growing on Eilsied, Shurin transformed them into arrows. Holding the two arrows, she took a breath and shot them in a single swift motion.
The arrows pierced through the trees and struck the Mad Apes. However, the two beasts continued towards us with the arrows stuck in them.
“It’s over.”
Shurin said, and roots extended from the arrows embedded in the Mad Apes, corroding them. The Mad Apes rolled around on the ground for a while but soon stopped moving, turning into magic stones.
“…Impressive skills.”
“With a bow, no one can beat me.”
Shurin picked up the magic stones and proceeded ahead. At that pace, which didn’t seem like heading towards the deepest part, we continued deeper into the dungeon.
