The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 15
Chapter 15: The Crater of Desire
“The Crater of Desire” is a dungeon that has transformed into a volcano. It has a structure that ascends from the interior to the crater. As adventurers climb higher, the monsters that appear become stronger, and the environment becomes harsher.
Even so, adventurers are drawn deeper and deeper into this dungeon, captivated by the beauty of the gems that can be obtained here, just like passionate young people…
—
As we continued through the first floor, “The Path of Reunion,” wiping away sweat…
“It’s so hot…”
Aria fanned herself at her chest. Even though we were wearing lightweight armor that protected only the vital areas, the heat inside the dungeon was intense.
“We just entered, but this heat is certainly tough. Should we use it?”
“Yes, I think so. We shouldn’t hold back and end up collapsing.”
I took a magical tool from my bag and activated it. Cold air enveloped both of us as I infused it with magic.
“It’s really amazing when you actually use it. Could you have become a magical tool craftsman?”
“I can only engrave runes on magic stones. I didn’t have the time to learn more.”
“Even that is impressive.”
What I used now was a disposable magical tool I had created using magic stones. Craftsman-made magical tools could be used semi-permanently and had more potent effects, but I couldn’t make ones of that caliber.
“I made some extras, but I’m not sure if they’ll be enough. Let’s hurry as much as possible.”
“Yes, and it’s also a test run for this, right?”
Aria looked at the weapon hanging from my waist. I nodded as we continued, and several Salamanders and Fire Elementals blocked our path.
“…Can I leave the Salamanders to you?”
“Yes, I’ll finish them off quickly.”
We drew our weapons and rushed forward. With my pitch-black short sword and hand axe, we approached three Fire Elementals, and they retaliated by hurling fireballs at us.
We parried the fireballs and closed in on the Elementals. I slammed my hand axe into one that was floating in mid-air, sending it crashing to the ground. I thrust my short sword into its head, and its body dissipated into magic stones.
Two Elementals then came at us from both sides, spewing flames. Rolling to avoid the attack, I quickly adjusted my grip on my weapons.
(Deal with one of them…)
As I tightened my grip on my weapons, a voice flowed into my mind again. It happened in an instant, but I immediately acted on it.
Dodging the flames being released, I slipped between the Elementals and, joining the handles of the hand axe and short sword, they fused into a single polearm, a halberd, in my hand.
I spun around and swung the halberd. The Elementals were sliced apart by the blade of black wind and turned into magic stones that rolled on the ground.
Aria had also defeated the Salamanders by this time. She collected the magic stones and approached.
“That’s amazing! I’ve never seen an ability to change shape so freely.”
“Well, I’m not completely sure yet…”
As I thought about it, the halberd returned to its original form, the hand axe and short sword. It seemed like I could change it in other ways as well, but I would have to test it later.
“I knew you had talent, but you’re really skilled.”
“I came all the way here with just a sword, so the monsters here aren’t much of a challenge for me.”
“I see. How about we try cooperating next time?”
“Sure, I’d like that. It would be a good chance to see how well we can work together.”
While discussing, we continued deeper into the dungeon, confirming each other’s abilities as we approached what would likely be the most formidable presence at the heart of it all…
