The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 164
Chapter 164: Tower of Heaven’s Challenge
Halting the carriage, everyone disembarked and looked up at the tower in front of them. The tower, surrounded by multiple rings, would usually evoke a sense of holiness, but now it emitted a somewhat ominous aura.
“I never thought we’d challenge this dungeon in this way,” remarked one.
“Yeah, I didn’t even consider challenging it,” another replied.
Even with just the known information, the difficulty of the Tower of Heaven’s Challenge was considerably high. Only parties of elite adventurers, of at least gold or silver rank, would dare to venture inside.
“Are we ready?” asked one, holding a sword, and everyone nodded in response, each gripping their weapons. With that confirmed, they looked up at the tower once more.
“Let’s go.”
—
Passing through the grand entrance, the interior of the Tower of Heaven’s Challenge—specifically the lower level known as the “Foundation of Stacked Corpses”—was dyed in white.
Exquisite decorations adorned the pillars, and various ancient inscriptions and reliefs were engraved on the floor. It might have been impressive if not for the sinisterly glowing sigils forcibly etched onto the walls, ruining the aesthetic.
“So, this is the summoning sigil…”
Slashing the sigil with his sword, it momentarily severed, but the wall writhed, repairing itself, and the sigil reconnected, regaining its glow.
“…As expected, the sigils have become part of the dungeon itself.”
“To interfere with the dungeon… Who exactly are we dealing with?”
“I don’t know, but… Regardless, we’ve confirmed that we need to destroy the core, Shurin.”
“…Follow me.”
Led by Shurin, they advanced. When they had reached halfway, Shurin’s ears twitched, and she exclaimed while nocking an arrow on her bow.
“Run!”
Upon hearing Shurin’s command, they ran just in time as giant blades emerged from pillars on both sides, swinging down where they had been standing moments before.
The pillars from which the blades emerged then transformed. Decorated pillars intricately rearranged themselves into golems resembling armored knights.
Following that, they sensed the presence of monsters from behind. Looking back, they saw superior-class monsters—creatures bearing names like Goblin Lord and Skull General—emerging from the depths.
“Goblin Lord, Skull General… and topping it off with an Origin Chimera.”
The Goblin Lord was literally an advanced breed of goblin, possessing intelligence and abilities surpassing that of humans due to its immense size. Normally, it would serve as a boss in a mid-sized dungeon, much like the Skull General.
The Origin Chimera was the oldest and strongest among the Chimera species—a creature with the heads of a lion, a goat, and a dragon, with wings and a snake’s tail, possessing extraordinary vitality.
“So, this is the ordeal…”
Standing before two golems, each twice his size, I raised my sword and said to Aria and the others, “I’ll handle this. You take care of the rear.”
“Understood… We’re going too,” Aria replied.
As Aria and the others faced the Goblin Lord, it let out a roar, and I charged towards the golems…
