The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 171
Chapter 171: Acquisition
(Somewhere around here…)
While cutting down the undead creatures blocking our path, I made my way back to the center of the room. Near the hole where flames erupted, I scanned the surroundings, imagining the worst-case scenario in my head.
The floor consisted of uneven grids with stakes lined up beneath. If someone were to fall through the gaps in the floor, they would have to hide in the area below the floor, among the stakes.
…There it is!
Luckily, as I searched near the hole where I defeated the mummy, I spotted a gold coin illuminated by the flames. I hurried to grab it.
But just as I reached for the coin, a mummy fell from above. The impact of it hitting the floor caused the gold coin to dance in the air.
“Dammit!”
While throwing my sword at the mummy in front of me, I reached out for the coin. With a burst of wind enveloping me, I leaped towards it.
“All right!”
I managed to grab the coin just before it fell into the gap in the floor. However, due to the momentum of my leap and the awkward posture I had to adopt to grab it, I couldn’t land properly and ended up rolling on the floor, falling into the nearby gap as if being sucked in.
“Urgh!?”
I grabbed the edge just before falling completely and hung there for a moment. With a momentary shiver down my spine, I used “Wind Step” to jump back up.
Returning to the surface of the floor, I looked up and saw the undead creatures that had gathered around attacking all at once. Quickly, I crouched down and deployed a large shield, bracing for the onslaught.
“…Garma!”
Summoning a black wind, Garma appeared with a neigh, blowing away the undead creatures as he charged forward fearlessly. He ran through the grid-like floor without hesitation, scattering the undead creatures in his path. As he reached the door and cleared the way, Aria and the others also defeated the undead creatures that surrounded them.
Jumping off Garma and landing gracefully, I inserted the gold coin into the indentation on the plate. The plate emitted a faint glow that reached every corner of the door, which then opened with a heavy sound.
“Now!”
Once everyone confirmed they had entered, I entered as well and forcefully closed the door behind me. As it slammed shut with a loud bang, there was knocking from the other side for a moment before the presence faded away.
Turning around, I saw Aria and the others sitting against the wall, resting. There was also a staircase leading upwards, and I leaned against the door, sitting down as well.
“…Let’s take a short break. Does everyone still have potions?”
As I spoke, everyone nodded and began drinking their potions. I also gulped down a potion with a distinct herbal flavor and sighed deeply.
(…Is this going to continue until the next mid-boss room?)
“…I know saying this won’t change anything, but…”
As Aria finished her potion, she muttered.
“If there’s someone who built this dungeon, I’d give them a punch right now.”
“…If they’re there, I’d be ready to join in for that punch.”
My words were met with silent nods from Serena and Shurin…
