The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 191
Chapter 191: Breakthrough (Aria Side)
Wrapped in flames, I advanced, turning the flames on my back into wings, sweeping away the monsters in one breath.
I slashed through the Iron Golems blocking the way with my glowing sword, clearing a path by burning down the Shadow Stalkers and Black Widows attacking.
Fifth raised her hand again to do something. I threw the long sword that was hanging from my waist, which pierced her shoulder and stopped her movement.
(What I learned from Berg came in handy.)
Kicking away anything in my path, I flew straight ahead, piercing Fifth’s chest with my sword before she could react.
“Gu…”
The robe she was wearing, enveloped in flames, burned away, revealing something beneath that surprised me.
“It’s not Fifth?”
Beneath the robe was a woman’s face, half of it covered by something resembling a black shadow, with lifeless eyes that seemed to lack any vitality.
“It’s… too late…”
The woman’s body turned to ashes, centered around the sword. But unfazed, she moved her tongue.
“Shadows return to light… Light illuminates the world… No one can stop it…”
With those words, the woman turned to ashes. I looked around after she had vanished, and the monsters were gone, and silence returned to the room.
(Where did Fifth go? No, I need to destroy the core now!)
I leaped to the altar and swung my sword down at the top where the core was. As the core split in half and exploded, it shattered into pieces.
“Now…”
As I landed on the floor, the ancient characters that covered the room began to disappear. I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling that our objective had been achieved.
“…!?”
Immediately after, the room… the tower began to tremble, and the walls of the room started to move.
“Serena! Shurin! Let’s get away from the tower!”
Through the gaps in the complexly changing walls of the tower, we could see the outside. Both of them expanded their wings and flew outwards.
As I tried to leave as well, I noticed a shield with a sword placed in a mirror that had fallen from the altar. Feeling like something was calling out to me, I picked them up and escaped from the tower.
While joining them in the air, we looked at the tower. There were ancient characters floating on the outer walls of the tower, and at the top, there was a white throne.
“…Could it be that they anticipated us destroying the core?”
Serena muttered as she looked at the transformed tower. Hearing this, we all exchanged glances.
“Those spell formations and the core were real, but Fifth set up the spell formations, triggering them when the core was destroyed… that explains what’s happening now.”
“…We were completely deceived.”
I couldn’t help but grit my teeth. The spell formations engraved on the inside of the tower were meant to activate the ones engraved on the outside, in case the core was destroyed.
“That…!”
Shurin pointed in a direction, where a light was heading towards the throne. Though it was distant, we could see the light’s true form.
“Lowd!?”
Clad in white armor, he sat on the throne, and then the entire tower was engulfed in light…
