The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 202
Chapter 202: Duel
(Aria’s Side)
The Apostles that covered the sky are disappearing simultaneously. Astonished by the sight, Aria focuses her attention on the heavy sound of someone sitting down, only to find Blast Pain sitting there, his body in tatters.
“…Il-Eater has perished, and my mission has finally come to an end.”
Blast Pain’s body is gradually crumbling, but his face looks remarkably calm.
Looking up at Blast Pain, Aria speaks, holding a warrior’s respect for him.
“Blast Pain, thank you… Without you, I don’t think we could have done what we needed to do.”
“It doesn’t matter. I did what I had to do, and you did what you had to do.”
Blast Pain, without hesitation, turns to face “The Tower That Challenged the Heavens,” even as it crumbles, and gazes into the distance with distant eyes.
“We were created by the Creators, but if we have souls… then in the afterlife… with our brethren…”
The light disappears from Blast Pain’s eyes, his body crumbles, leaving only debris behind.
Naturally, the three of them pray, and then I suddenly mutter.
“…Berg?”
—
(Berg’s Side)
The sound of hooves and claws kicking the earth echoes. Maneuvering the reins while keeping each other in sight.
Lowd, beside me, bends down to avoid the spear swung horizontally. In retaliation, I thrust out the Halberd, which is evaded but then change the direction of the spearhead to sweep with the axe blade.
Lowd dodges the axe blade by falling backward, then swings down his spear. I catch it with the Halberd, deflect it, and thrust again.
As our mounts close the distance, the dragon horse opens its jaws lined with fangs to bite Garma. Garma shakes its head to evade the jaws and then smashes its head down like a whip.
At the moment the dust rises from the ground, Lowd changes his axe spear into a sword as we close in. I also switch my weapon to a sword while drawing near.
The black sword and the white sword clash with a high-pitched sound, scattering sparks as they intersect several times before locking blades.
“You’re strong… With this much power, you could have conquered all the dungeons in the world!”
“What a waste… With your power and talent, you could have carved your name as the strongest being to ever exist, unreachable by anyone!”
As the ground cracks and the deadlock breaks, we face each other, and Garma and the dragon horse rear up and clash with their forelegs.
“Guah!”
The impact of hooves and claws sends us both flying. As I raise my head, Lowd’s figure has disappeared.
(Above me!)
Looking up, Lowd descends with light imbued in his sword. I realize it’s the technique that destroyed Heinrüber, but there’s no time to dodge.
“Garma!?”
Garma neighs as it throws me off. Dodging the direct hit thanks to being thrown off, I spread my wings to avoid the shockwave.
From the swirling dust, Lowd, with wings spread, leaps out. As we cross swords in midair and plummet to the ground, we roll down like a falling meteor.
I punch Lowd’s face as he kneels down. Then I punch him again in the abdomen as he struggles to stand. But Lowd punches me back while still kneeling.
Lowd clenches his fists and swings them alternately. While enduring the impact that reaches to the core of my body, I punch back.
Having taken my fists to his face, Lowd grabs my arm and slams me into the ground. As I exhale all the air from my lungs, Lowd mounts me and swings his fist down.
Dodging by twisting my neck as his fist flies towards my face, I manage to avoid several strikes while hearing the ground being torn apart. Then I knee Lowd’s back as he leans over me.
I unfold the sword from my knee like a spring. Stabbed from behind by the sword, Lowd rolls away from me.
Gasping for breath, we glare at each other, then pick up our swords and prepare to fight.
“My power isn’t just for myself.”
I concentrate darkness on the tip of my sword. Lowd also imbues his sword with light as we start running towards each other.
“This power is for those who live desperately even without the power to fight! For my loved ones, who are precious to me!”
Lowd’s white sword is thrust forward. With a shout, I swing my sword, pouring all my emotions into the blow.
“And… to stop you!”
Blood splatters and falls to the ground, dyeing the white armor red with my blood.
“Gu…!”
“…”
The black blade pierces through the white armor, piercing Lowd’s heart…
