The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 23
Chapter 23: The Warkalt
“Gyaaah!?”
I impaled the goblin leaping at me from the front with my spear. Immediately, another goblin approached from the left, brandishing a knife.
I extended my left arm forward and whispered an incantation, causing darkness to surge and envelop my arm. In an instant, the darkness transformed into a gauntlet, deflecting the knife effortlessly.
“Gigii!?”
With the goblin’s attack repelled, it was left defenseless. I delivered a powerful right straight to its face. The gauntlet, formed from the spear, left a deep dent in the goblin’s face.
(Starting to get the hang of this…)
I collected the goblins’ magic stones and examined the Chaos Crusader, now transformed into a gauntlet.
It felt well-balanced and fit my hand perfectly, but…
(I still haven’t fully unleashed its potential.)
The more I practiced with it, the more I realized I hadn’t completely mastered this weapon. Could it be because I hadn’t heard any voices since then?
“Great job. I’ve finished on my end,” Aria said, interrupting my thoughts.
I paused and turned to her. She held the Crimson Sword and looked at me.
“You know, Belk, you can fight in so many different ways… You used to use bows, axes, and halberds, right?”
“I experimented with various styles to find what suited me best. In the end, I found that swords and fists matched my style.”
“And you used to use axes quite a bit, right?”
“Axes are useful against tough opponents and can be used more roughly.”
Swords tended to lose their sharpness against hard foes or when covered in blood, but axes could function as makeshift maces even when dulled.
“Hey, would you mind teaching me your fighting style, Belk?”
“Mine?”
“Yeah, I got the idea while using Ruskdite. Somehow, I feel like a fighting style enhanced with your magic might suit me.”
“…I’m not sure if it’ll be useful.”
As we talked about this, we made our way to the port town. After twenty days of travel since leaving Walcura on the Grushio Continent, we had arrived at one of the port towns, Warkalt.
We paid the entrance fee and felt the bustling atmosphere as we entered.
“First, let’s find an inn… And about the ship, is it okay to go to Mildrea?”
“Yeah, that’s better since I know the area… Oh, isn’t that inn over there a good choice?”
Aria pointed to an inn with a sign that read “Dolphin’s Rest Inn.” It appeared to be quite large, likely due to its location on the main street.
We entered the inn, and in the lobby, a well-built woman was looking at what seemed to be a ledger.
“Sorry, there are two of us. Do you have a room available?”
“Two? We only have one room available right now. Is that okay?”
“That’s fine. How much is it?”
“For two people, it’s twenty silver coins per night. If you stay, the room has a shower, and you can also use the large bath in the back.”
We nodded and paid the fee, then received the key. Afterward, we headed straight to the port to buy tickets for the ship to Mildrea.
“Lucky for us, the departure is tomorrow,” I said.
“Yeah, let’s do some shopping and prepare today, then get back to the inn early.”
Even though the departure was tomorrow afternoon, it would be better to rest early to have enough energy…
—
“Ah…”
Aria lay on a spacious bed, her expression blissful. Beads of sweat glistened on her flushed skin.
“Already done?” I asked.
While petting Aria’s head, Ruskdite floated in the air beside her. Despite touching Aria, Ruskdite’s gaze was fixed on me.
“You seem to be surpassing me day by day… Not just Aria, but your strength as a male is extraordinary,” Ruskdite said.
“Don’t call people ‘extraordinary’ like that.”
“I may not be entirely wrong… Well, Aria, may I proceed?”
Aria nodded, and Ruskdite materialized and straddled me.
“You’re still full of energy. This time, I’ll calm you down,” Ruskdite said.
“I don’t have a say in this, do I?”
“Of course not. Aria and I, as beautiful females, have requested you as a male. So, as a male, respond to our desires.”
Since leaving Walcura, Ruskdite had been joining us in this manner. They had discussed it with Aria, and it was decided that I would now engage with both of them.
And so, the night grew late as we left the inn, with a woman at the front desk giving us a knowing smirk…
