The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 75
Chapter 75: Like a Rock (Rakul Side)
There was no room for complacency.
The knights accompanying me were seasoned veterans who had participated in numerous monster subjugations.
They didn’t neglect gathering information from the nearby village or understanding the terrain.
And yet…
“Run, Rakul…”
A knight, with his chest pierced by a blood-soaked arm, uttered these words just before his life slipped away. As his arm was pulled out, three monsters stood over his fallen body.
They were unfamiliar monsters, coordinating their attacks like humans despite having different appearances and abilities.
“Ugh… Aaah!”
I infused magic into my sword and lunged at them, but the monsters easily caught my strike with armored arms, countering with spiked fists.
Swiftly moving my sword to parry, their powerful punch, accompanied by incredible force, intercepted both the blade and me, sending me sprawling through the air.
My body came to a halt as it collided with a tree, and the impact on my back momentarily expelled all the air from my lungs, leaving me struggling to breathe.
The sword in my hand was shattered at the guard, rendering it useless. Despite trembling hands, I tried to draw a spare sword and stand up…
“Huff!?”
Before I could stand, a whip-like arm from one of the monsters struck my side. Rolling on the ground, I was then grabbed by the monster covered in black fur.
“Ugh… Take this!”
I swung the sword towards the monster’s neck, but the blade, hindered by its fur, couldn’t even cut through the thin skin.
“Unbelievable…”
It was hard to believe that a knight’s sword, used by the Order, couldn’t cut through, even if swung with the strength of my arm alone.
“Kefu!?”
The monster’s fist pierced my abdomen, and the pain from being slammed into the ground again caused me to lose consciousness momentarily.
The figures of the monsters came into view, each different in appearance, yet all had a shining crystal-like object on their chests.
“This one, Ganjouda.”
“Wakakute, Tsuyoi Kotaida.”
“Sozai ni, ii.”
The monsters approached, conversing with each other, and the pain prevented me from moving.
A giant blade slashed through, cutting the reaching monster.
“!?”
The blade immediately turned, severing another monster’s waist. The black-furred monster, whose thick arm had been swung at the wielder of the blade, released a resounding crash as it collided with the rocks. However, in the next moment, the blade had sliced through the monster.
The identity of the blade was a sword passed down in the eastern island nation, known as a katana. However, its large, thick blade was incomparable to anything I had seen before.
It was the Zanba Sword… I had heard of a massive sword used to cut through both horse and rider in full armor, and what stood before me now was undoubtedly that.
The one wielding the Zanba Sword was a warrior clad in armor, shaped as if carved from rock. The armor covered his entire body, and his towering figure, combined with the helmet resembling an oni, emitted a pressure akin to a mountain.
The radiant eyes of the helmet turned towards me. The power and presence exuded were foolish to compare to the monsters that had been overwhelming me just moments ago.
“…You seem to be alive, young one.”
As the armor dissipated like sand, a tall man stood there. White hair mingled with wrinkles on his battle-hardened face, portraying the visage of a seasoned warrior.
“For now, let’s tend to your wounds, young one.”
This encounter was to change my fate…
