The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 86
Episode 86 – One Who Shines in the Light
“Serk…”
My older brother, whom I hadn’t seen in a long time, looked terrible even to me. It wasn’t just because of what that bastard did to him—he must’ve been pushing himself way too hard.
“Bro, we’ve got a lot to catch up on… but first, I’m going to take care of that.”
Once I confirmed my brother was alive, I turned to face that bastard again. I tightened my grip on my sword as I saw Aria and Serena approaching from the side.
“Wh-Why the hell are you here!? You’re supposed to be in the Holy Kingdom!”
“Shut up, bastard. Whatever the reason, I’m going to kill you.”
“You dare call me, Lord Greb, a bastard…!? Don’t get cocky just because you landed a cheap shot, you worthless trash!”
That bastard—Greb—stood up and swung his monstrous sword down at me. I blocked it head-on with my own sword.
“Someone like you is no match for even one of my arms!”
The veins in Greb’s right arm bulged as he pushed harder. But I dug in my feet and pushed back with all my strength.
“Huh? Wha…?”
Greb made a dumb face as he started to get pushed back. I knocked his sword up and slashed his torso. As he staggered back from the blow, I turned my weapon into a spear and drove it into his gut.
“Gah!?”
The tip of the spear pierced all the way through his back. I changed it into a halberd and swung it around. The hooked blade got stuck in his body, so I used brute force and hurled him away, halberd and all.
“Guhah!? Wh-What…?”
“Weakling.”
“Y-You bastard!? Ice Lance!”
As I made the halberd disappear, Greb’s face twisted with rage and he fired a spear of ice at me. I blocked it with a tower shield, then used the shield as a platform and launched myself into the air.
I came at him with my sword, and he parried it with his own. I noticed the bleeding from his cut-off arm and his stomach had stopped.
…It’s probably the power of his sword. The eerie glow from the crystal reminded me of the same power and aura as Fuldo’s helmet.
“This can’t be, this can’t be, this can’t be! Trash like you shouldn’t be this strong! I’m the one being pushed back!?”
“You can think whatever you want, but this is reality.”
I twisted our swords together, then smashed my knee into the wound in his stomach. As he doubled over, I grabbed his hair and slammed my fist into his face.
His hair tore out with a sickening sound, and Greb went flying. His face was smashed in, bl00d gushing from his crushed nose like a waterfall.
“You’re going to die by my hand. That’s the reality.”
“H-Hii!? C-come on!!”
As I glared at him with killing intent, Greb raised his sword. Suddenly, the ground shook, and something massive burst out from next to him.
It was a giant monster that looked like an enormous caterpillar. Its face was a massive circular mouth lined with sharp teeth that could probably swallow a horse whole. Several eyes focused on me.
“Kill him! Eat him!”
Greb turned and ran as he gave the order. He probably knew he couldn’t beat me, so he sicced the monster on me to buy time and escape.
“…Deploying combat gear.”
Facing the monster as it charged with a strange roar, I spoke the words to unleash my power.
“Chaos Crusader, the Black-Clad Holy Army.”
Armor wrapped around me, and I summoned Garma and charged forward. Just before the monster lunged from the ground, I jumped from Garma and grabbed my greatsword.
I swung the sword just as I passed the monster in midair. It charged right into the blade.
The sword split through its head and sliced its huge body in half vertically. As its insides sprayed everywhere, the two halves of the monster crashed to the ground. I landed back on Garma beneath it.
Hearing the hoofbeats, Greb turned around and his face twisted in shock. I caught up instantly and swung my crescent axe-bardiche, slicing off his right arm from the shoulder.
“Gyaaaaaaaaaaah!!!”
With both arms gone, Greb lost balance and collapsed. I approached on Garma as he lay on his back, his face twisted in fear.
“W-Wait! Please, listen to me!”
“…”
“It’s true! I tried to kill Badol! But I did it for the good of this country!”
“…”
“No one denies Badol is a brilliant man! But because of him, how many people went without proper recognition!? You were constantly compared to him and never fairly evaluated either, right!?”
“…”
“If this keeps up, this country will rely entirely on one man! When that happens, it’ll be the innocent people who suffer the consequences first!”
“…”
“Y-Yes! If you help me, I’ll make you the new king! We’ve both suffered—if we join hands, we can create a country without corruption!”
“Shut up.”
Releasing my killing intent, I silenced Greb and walked right up to him, looking down at his face.
“I know damn well how painful it is to be compared. But that doesn’t mean I’m anything like you.”
“Wha… ah…”
“You think my brother got strong without effort? You think he reached that level without pain or hardship?”
“Ah… ah…”
“You didn’t even try to understand. You just envied what he had and told yourself you weren’t at fault, then pulled this kind of sh1t… Words from someone like you…”
I pulled the reins, and Garma raised its front legs. Its shadow loomed over Greb, who was frozen in fear.
“…don’t carry any weight. They’re just noise.”
Garma’s hooves came crashing down—hard.
