The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 101
Chapter 101: Division
Just by looking, I could tell this man was no ordinary person. Despite the distance, the chilling magical power of the Yomi soldiers was radiating from around him.
“You must be Mudo.”
“Indeed… This is the first time I am facing you, Black Storm Knight.”
Mudo looked at me with stagnant eyes. Then, his gaze filled with hatred, and he ground his teeth, spitting out a voice full of resentment.
“That look… The aura you give off, I can’t be mistaken! You are indeed of Kamutsuhi’s bloodline! Even though I schemed to drive your kind to a remote land, diluting your bl00d so you would never appear again… How detestable!”
Mudo struck the ground with his scepter, causing multiple magic circles to appear. From the dark red glowing circles, Yomi Ninjas emerged and charged at us.
Aria and the others and I split into different directions to fight back. I drew the Seven Branch Sword from my back, unleashing lightning as I slashed, scattering the Yomi Ninjas while calling out to Amane.
“Amane, do you know where the Gate of Yomi is?”
“…I feel a strong energy directly beneath us. It’s probably under the castle.”
“Understood. Shurin, do you know where the path leading to the underground is?”
“That black tower, over there.”
Shurin, who had pierced through the approaching Yomi Ninjas, pointed to the tower. Meanwhile, Mudo was summoning more monsters by expanding his magic circles.
(Should I deal with him first?)
I gathered dark energy around my sword. When I swung it with the lightning from the Seven Branch Sword, a storm of black lightning surged, shattering the Yomi Ninjas and the magic circles.
Mudo defended with a layered barrier to block the lightning and jumped up to meet me, but I swung the Seven Branch Sword down toward him. Mudo used his scepter to float and created another magic circle beneath his feet.
(This… A teleportation circle?!)
By the time I realized it, Mudo’s body had sunk into the circle. I, too, was being pulled into the invisible force within the circle.
“Aria! Everyone, seal the Gate of Yomi! I’ll handle Mudo!”
I shouted to Aria, who was rushing toward us, then fell into the teleportation circle. I felt like I was being swallowed by a muddy torrent but was quickly thrown into the air.
I adjusted my stance mid-air and landed. As I stood up and looked around, I saw tall walls surrounding me, stains on the ground, and a distinctive, bloody stench that pierced my nose.
“A place of execution.”
“That’s right. It is for your death.”
Mudo looked down at me from above the walls. I tried to change my sword into a crossbow, but I realized it wasn’t responding.
“Futile. This place is surrounded by a barrier that seals the power of divine artifacts. Even normal magic won’t work here.”
I tried chanting “Wind’s Blessing, Follow Wind” but nothing happened. It seemed that the activation of magic itself was being suppressed.
“I won’t kill you easily… I’ll shatter your body into pieces, carve you up, and burn you until not even ashes remain, erasing your very existence!”
Mudo gave orders to the waiting Yomi soldiers, and the doors around us opened. From them, lifeless warriors clad in various armaments appeared and surrounded me.
“They are those I have resurrected with my magic. Once famous in Hizuchi, these are especially important for you, aren’t they?”
One of the surrounding figures stepped forward. Even though his form was completely changed, I couldn’t mistake him.
“Now, kill him for me! Shion!”
Shion, holding a twisted blade, approached me.
