The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 113
Chapter 113: The True God
(Aria’s Side)
“What’s going on!?”
I shouted, looking up as the Gate to the Underworld, which we had sealed, suddenly broke through the ceiling and began rising. Everyone else was also unable to grasp the situation due to the sudden event.
“This presence… could it be…?”
Amane muttered while looking up. Everyone turned to her as she seemed to sense something while her Tsukuyo was glowing.
“Has it been here… this whole time? You mean it has been suppressing its power and waiting for this moment, a time when we couldn’t even sense it?”
“What’s happening…?”
“Aria!”
I was about to ask for more details when Shurin called me. She pointed upward, her amber eyes focused.
“The Gate to the Underworld is fully open! Now, Berg is trying to fight!”
“!”
There wasn’t time to ask for more details. I immediately gave the command.
“We’re going to help Berg! Shurin! Rakul! Help me!”
Shurin nodded and scattered seeds on the ground, which rapidly grew into a tree-shaped cage big enough for everyone. Once we all got in, Rakul touched the cage, making it lighter and lifting it to the maximum.
“Hold on tight. I’ll take us there.”
Grabbing the vines, I flapped my flame wings and took off. The vines and everyone inside were protected by Serena’s water barrier, so there was no fear of catching fire.
We soared upward, scattering fiery sparks like falling feathers.
(Berg’s Side)
“The God of Death, huh… It doesn’t look like it came here for sightseeing.”
“Before a god, you still maintain such insolence. Are you a fool, or are you brave enough to stand before me?”
“Probably more of a fool. I’m thinking of killing a god after all.”
I drew my Seven-Branch Sword and held High End, feeling a power that could rival, or even surpass, that of Il-Eater.
Yomi smiled faintly and flicked his fingers. A massive wave of the dead surged out from the Gate to the Underworld, approaching like a tsunami.
I charged forward, imbuing my sword with lightning as I slashed through the wave of the dead. The smell of burnt flesh filled the air as the lightning scorched them.
But more of the dead continued to pour out of the Gate, and soon, monsters from the Underworld also appeared, surrounding us in a cage-like formation.
“Eight Thunder Gods!”
I called upon the power of the Eight Thunder Gods, and bolts of lightning shot out from the Seven-Branch Sword. The lightning struck down the monsters, carving through them with their pale, electrified tails. Meanwhile, I extended the blade of light from High End and sliced through the remaining monsters.
(It’s endless!)
As long as that Gate to the Underworld was open, the monsters wouldn’t stop coming. But each time a monster appeared, the Gate itself grew larger and more sinister, and the cold air from the Underworld grew stronger.
Thinking I might be able to destroy the Gate, I broke through the encircling monsters and charged toward it with the Seven-Branch Sword raised. But just as I was about to unleash a thunderous strike, Yomi directed his hand toward me.
“‘Burn to death.’”
Flames engulfed my entire body. The heat and force stopped my attack in its tracks, and I heard more words echo.
“‘Drown to death.’”
Suddenly, a flood of muddy water struck me from the side, swallowing me up. The combination of the force and the scalding water caused my armor to scream in protest.
“‘Crush to death.’”
Once again, an invisible force struck me head-on, sending me flying and pushing me far from the Gate to the Underworld.
(Again… this?)
As I began to repair my armor, I glared at Yomi. I knew I couldn’t deal with the Gate while he was still standing. Determining I had no other choice, I wrapped myself in lightning and flew at high speed toward him.
“‘Slash to death.’”
I could feel an invisible force ripping through the wind as it approached me. I used the sound of the wind’s tearing to avoid it and closed the distance, readying my Seven-Branch Sword to strike down at Yomi.
