The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 114
Chapter 114: Reunion
A sharp sound echoed. An invisible force from Yomi’s raised right hand stopped my sword, and as he looked at me, he murmured again.
“‘Crush to death…’”
(Now’s my chance!)
With lightning crackling beneath my feet, I leapt into the air. I felt the invisible force pass beneath me and swung my Seven-Branch Sword down.
The sword was blocked again by the invisible force. But as lightning exploded from the blade, it pierced the invisible force, and the lightning rained down on Yomi.
“‘Fall to death.’”
Just as I tried to strike again, my body was pulled downward with incredible force. In a flash, I extended my arm to the ground and released a whirlpool of darkness to slow my descent, but it wasn’t enough to counter the pull, and I crashed into the ground, raising a cloud of dust.
“Ugh…”
I rose from the center of the crater, trembling as my body groaned with pain. I analyzed Yomi’s attack, trying to understand it.
(It’s probably a form of word magic.)
Word magic was the origin of Hizuchi’s technique system. Just by speaking a name or a phenomenon, it could cause the exact event to occur, easily controlling even death. It was a powerful art, but now it only existed in legends.
(So… he’s still not fully recovered.)
From what he said, it seemed Yomi hadn’t fully regained his power. Yet, he effortlessly blocked my sword and his word magic was terrifyingly powerful.
“That sword… does it carry the same power as the Underworld, like me?”
Yomi’s body, covered with cuts and burns from the Eight Thunder Gods, began to heal as if time were reversing. As his wounds closed, Yomi looked down at me and muttered.
“‘Freeze to death.’”
In that instant, everything around me, centered on me, froze. I melted the encroaching cold with lightning as I tried to take off. But then, a massive snake, formed from the piled-up corpses of the dead, shot toward me at high speed and bit down.
The snake coiled around me and flew through the air. I thrust High End into its upper jaw, pouring destructive light directly into it.
The snake’s head shattered, freeing me from its jaws, and I swung my Seven-Branch Sword, burning through its body. As the snake turned to ash and vanished, more monsters closed in.
Flapping my wings, I flew into the air and shot several hundred arrows to hold back the approaching monsters. Then, I enveloped my Seven-Branch Sword with darkness, creating a jet-black whirlpool, and released it with lightning.
The monsters were swallowed by the storm of darkness and lightning, disintegrating. As the ashes of the monsters scattered, a pale blue hand emerged, and a cold voice echoed.
“‘Crush to death.’”
I was blown away by the invisible force. As I was sent flying, I crashed into a swarm of monsters, and once again, a cold voice rang out.
“‘Crush to death.’”
The monsters gathered around me, forming a wall of flesh, and began crushing me with immense force.
My movements were restricted, and my armor creaked under the pressure. I focused, preparing to unleash the “army”…
But flames suddenly flared up, and part of the monsters around me were blown apart. From the spot where they were torn away, vines wrapped around me and pulled me free from the flesh cage.
“Sorry, I’m late.”
Aria and the others appeared, quickly moving to my side and offering support.
