The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 127
Chapter 127: The End of the Battle
When I woke up and felt the heaviness in my body, I tried to get up. Serena, who had apparently been taking care of me, noticed and sat down beside me.
“How long have I been asleep?”
“Three days, completely bedridden. Your body was in terrible condition, and even I took a long time to heal you.”
“Well, this time I did the most reckless thing I’ve ever done.”
“You can’t just brush that off! Even with me and Trutia, we can’t bring someone back from the dead! No matter how tough you are, Berg, it was really dangerous this time!”
“I’m sorry, but I thought that if anyone could save me before I died, it would be you.”
“…Geez.”
Serena’s words caught in her throat, and after sighing, she told me to lie back down. She said she was going to get Aria and the others and left the room.
I checked my body, moving my hands, opening and closing them. As Serena had said, it still hurt in places, and I could feel the lingering fatigue in my body, but it seemed like I could move without any real problems.
A little while later, Aria and the others came into the room. We were going to discuss what had happened and the aftermath.
“That said, we’re still swamped with rebuilding and post-war procedures,” Aria said.
According to them, the damage to Ozma’s town wasn’t too bad. Since the castle was built on a mountain, it was somewhat distant from the town, and that distance helped reduce the damage to the residents more than expected.
However, because Yomi’s forces were nearby, and with the town being closed off just before the battle started, there had still been some impact. Fudo and the others were currently maintaining order and protecting the town.
“Is there no one left in Ozma’s family line?” I asked.
“It seems that Youzan hadn’t yet had any children. There were some branches of the family, but… they were all wiped out in the battle.”
“I see… but with everything that’s happened, even if they were alive, they probably would’ve been executed.”
The castle had been nearly destroyed in the aftermath of the battle. What had once been a solid fortress was now a mountain of rubble. If anyone had been inside, they surely wouldn’t have survived.
“By the way, what happened with the Gate of Yomi and the Yomi magic?” I asked.
“The Gate of Yomi has been sealed deep underground. At least with the current technology, it should be buried deep enough that it can’t be uncovered,” they replied.
“We’re still searching through the rubble for any records of Yomi magic… but with all the rebuilding and other tasks, we haven’t been able to dedicate many people to it.”
“Now everyone’s also discussing rewards, and how to handle the expenses of this war. The nations are debating over it.”
“…After the war, it’s always about that, huh?”
I had expected it, but it was inevitable that political discussions would follow a war. War costs a lot of money, and naturally, everyone would want to shift those costs onto someone else if they could.
“I’ll get to it after I rest for a bit. Once I take care of some personal matters.”
“Personal matters?”
“The records of Yomi magic… I think I’ll be able to find them.”
