The Second Son of The Marquis Runs Away from Home ~ Lacking Talent, He Abandons Everything and Becomes an Adventurer ~ - 128
Chapter 128: Aftermath
The next day…
Feeling better, I headed to the ruins of the Tenno Castle with Aria and the others. The soldiers bowed when they saw me, and I told them to take it easy before we entered the ruins. Inside, the area was filled with rubble and debris, and the cleanup work was ongoing.
“This… Just the removal of debris will take a lot of time,” I said.
“People who can use magic are being assigned to other necessary tasks… but this castle is just too big,” Aria said, looking around with Rakul.
As I stopped to think, I considered assigning more personnel once things settled down.
“This is it,” I said.
We arrived at the black remains of what had once been a tower. It had probably been a magnificent structure, but now it was unrecognizable.
“Rakul, let’s get started.”
“Got it.”
Rakul used his magic to create a massive arm of earth, and together we started moving the rubble. After a while, a room that still retained its original shape appeared.
“This… is this a barrier?” I asked.
“Mudou was someone with very high caution. There’s no way he would leave his documents lying around. I thought so, and I was right,” Aria said.
Mudou had always tried to secure his own safety. He kept his life’s work, the Yomi magic, within sight rather than hiding it away. It seemed I had guessed correctly.
I drew the Chaos Crusader and slashed through the barrier that was covering the room. The sound of shattering glass echoed, and as we entered, the room was filled with books and documents.
“Is all of this… related to magic?” I asked.
“Honestly, burning it all would be faster, but considering there are valuable historical documents among them, it might be better to examine everything first,” Aria replied.
“No, that’s fine,” I said.
I stepped into the room and began scanning the books and materials. From the pile, I picked up a book that emanated a familiar magical aura and began to inspect it.
The book contained research on Yomi magic that Dougen had been conducting, as well as the tools and procedures needed for the techniques.
Some of the pages detailed the types of Yomi monsters and corpses, and I realized these could be useful for establishing countermeasures. I decided to separate and organize the books and materials before handing them over to Aria.
Aria drew her sword and sliced through the air. The books and documents she struck caught fire immediately and turned to ash.
“We don’t need to hurry with the others, but… we might as well collect anything that can fit in the bag,” I said.
“Right… but how did you figure this out?” Aria asked.
“It was just a feeling… The magic felt similar to the one the Yomi soldiers had wrapped around them. I could sense it,” I explained.
“…Is that safe?” Aria asked, concerned.
“It doesn’t feel bad, though… I’ll have Amane take a look when we get back,” I replied.
We finished our tasks and headed back to the base. The next day, I asked Amane to check it out. She looked at me in shock.
“Berg-sama, please listen calmly… You have the power of Yomi within you.”
